I suspect that - irrespective of what happens with the impeachment business - Trump's finished politically.

The Republicans have a big decision to make (assuming Trump is able to run again). Continue to "tie" their Party to "Brand Trump" (and all it stands for), or to move in a different direction. If they decide on the latter, they'll have no shortage of candidates jockeying for position...and THAT could have a major impact on the way people vote in the impeachment trial (which would probably spell curtains for Trump's political ambitions).

Cunning, no? Here we the use of onomatopoeia to merge the name Karmala with the sticky brown confection, caramel. It's a scare campaign that comes with a direct reference to Karmala's tintedness.

We also have the adjective sweet, used ironically to infer its opposite: someone tough, shrewd and calculating. It directly targets gender in an attempt to undermine femininity.

Put together, in two words, we have a scare campaign based solely on race and gender. The tottering, clueless incumbent, Sleepy Joe, and his ambitious offsider, Sweet Karamela, a not-quite-black woman (she's caramel), but hardly sweet. She's a ball-buster, she's bitter, and she's got power.

These two words describe everything Trump was tasked to defeat - the threat of Hillary, a ball-buster, and the legacy of Obama, a black man. No, Dnarever, the Grappler is not better than that. He only supports Trump to rid the world of its Sweet Karamelas. It doesn't matter what Trump does - actively supports dictators, racks up 20 trillion in debt, presides over the highest covid toll in the world and incites his followers to storm his own government - Trump is the last white bastion against uppity tinted broads like Sweet Karamela.

It might be dumb, but it's one of the oldest scare campaigns in the book. Think of Sleepy Mark Anthony and Sweet Cleomelapatra - Julius Caesar used both in his own propaganda campaign to defeat Anthony and take control of the empire.

Like Trump, Julius Caesar is known for his own assault upon a republic. Caesar's failed too, but it didn't take long to do away with elected representatives and usher in the Dark Ages of Western Civilization.

Sweet Karamela has a similar purpose, a use of onomatopoeia that captures just how close we are to losing the lot.

No functioning voting system stops at 3 am, everyone is sent home, and on resumption the loser jumps miraculously to the lead. Then the count continues for weeks, waiting for the operatives to fill in enough to put the guy nobody could actually turn up to hear in the WH.
Those operatives had no time to vote in similar proportions in congressional or senate choice because they had to focus on faking just the presidential votes. Why else are the Dems not similarly WAAAAAY ahead in those chambers??

This would be unthinkable in other, uncorrupted electoral systems. But Tammany Hall, like Lenin, lived, lives, and will live in Dem controlled jurisdictions in the US.

The Dems now want all election to be as fakeable as this one so they are pushing for more of the same. Nobody with any respect for true democracy is pushing for MORE fakeable postal votes. Only the poncy pelosy Dems do.
And they will cancel your book deal if you disagree, demand that you be made a non-person.
