The family of missing Sydney businesswoman Melissa Caddick will have a new interim living allowance granted by the Federal Court while Ms Caddick’s assets remain frozen.

Ms Caddick disappeared shortly after her home was raided by the Australian Federal Police as part of an Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) investigation into her and her business, Maliver Pty Ltd.

ASIC has filed civil proceedings against her in the Federal Court.

An initial order freezing her assets allowed for $800 per week for her husband and 15-year-old son, but their lawyers asked for an increase.

The family first requested a change to $4880 a week, a sum described as “staggering” by lawyers for ASIC.

On Thursday morning the Federal Court heard a new sum had been arrived at from barrister David Sulan, who is representing Ms Caddick’s brother Adam Grimley as her representative.

“ASIC neither opposes nor consents to that figure, it’s a matter for the court,” said ASIC barrister Stephanie Fendekian.

Justice Brigitte Markovic indicated she would make the order.

The figure was not revealed in court

why doesnt the court tell HIM TO GET A JOB?.

Why did ASIC send lawyers to the court if “ASIC neither opposes nor consents to that figure"?

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/melissa-caddick-police-believe-missin...

Detectives have widened the net in the search for accused fraudster Melissa Caddick, with a theory she fled to Queensland after disappearing the night officers raided her Sydney mansion.

Police involved in the search for the millionaire businesswoman, suspected of siphoning off her clients’ investments to fund a lavish lifestyle, believe she is “very much still alive” and could be on the run interstate after failing to unearth a single clue to her whereabouts since she left her clifftop home 68 days ago.

Senior officers have spent hundreds of hours trawling through CCTV footage panning the exclusive Dover Heights street where she lived and investigated “a mountain” of tips from the public leading them to query the assumption she left her $7 million home about 5.30am on November 12, when her son told police he thought he heard the “click” of the front door when she left for a run

More than $20 million of investors’ funds, predominantly savings of her rich friends, was deposited into Ms Caddick’s account between January 2018 and September 18, 2020, according to documents filed in the Federal Court.

Bank records show the accused fraudster spent an astonishing amount on luxury clothes, limousines, travel, mortgage payments and protein shakes.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said Ms Caddick’s perplexing disappearance remained a missing persons investigation.

“We are treating the case as she is still alive,” the commissioner told Ben Fordham on 2GB.

“There are two aspects to this ... the NSW Police is leading a missing person investigation into her going missing. The Australian Security Investment Commission is also running an investigation into potential frauds in relation to superannuation investments in the millions, perhaps the tens of millions of dollars.

Ms Caddick’s disappearance has reportedly stunned her family. Those close to her parents say they were so unsuspecting of her alleged fraudulent activities they have sunk into a deep depression.

“Ted and Barbara just sit at home staring, they don’t eat, friends have to go around and spoon feed them.

“It’s so sad, they just can’t get their heads around what’s happened to Melissa, that ASIC are investigating their daughter,” one family friend told The Daily Telegraph. “They’re waiting for the debt collectors to throw them out of the apartment.

Melissa adores her elderly parents, they, and her son, are everything to her — she bought the parents the Edgecliff apartment so they were comfortable in old age.

“She sold their house and bought them the penthouse several years ago.

“Barbara used to love her gym sessions, she hasn’t left the house once since Melissa walked out on them.”

Thirty-six hours after their last conversation, Mr Koletti reported his wife’s disappearance at an eastern suburbs police station.

I wonder what they have to make them so sure she is still alive....

The plot thickens!

Quote:
Missing millionaire Melissa Caddick may have spent months planning her own disappearance, according to her scorned brother-in-law.

The businesswoman, 49, vanished on November 12, two days after an AFP raid on her $6.1million Sydney home for allegedly siphoning money from her clients to fund her lavish lifestyle.

Chris Koletti now claims his sister-in-law likely meticulously staged her disappearance and didn't tell her husband Anthony Koletti because he was 'too dumb' and 'can't keep a secret'.

He also said she would probably return to face the music when she 'runs out of money'.

.
Police have chased down 50 tip-offs regarding the whereabouts of missing woman Melissa Caddick, with the search stretching to Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.

The tips have ranged from sightings in the street to information from the public about where she might be.

For a fleeting moment, detectives even turned their sights to the Northern Territory after noticing Mrs Caddick’s husband, Anthony Koletti, had received phone calls from a landline in the Top End before she vanished.

“Every lead has been followed and nothing has come out of it,” a police source said.

perhaps she is dead by her own hand.... maybe the disgrace was too much Undecided Undecided

Missing woman Melissa Caddick allegedly fleeced at least 20 more “distressed” victims who have come forward to complain they were duped of millions, according to ASIC.

Sources close to the investigation say corporate watchdog Australian Securities and Investments Commission and receivers have fielded calls from more investors in the last six weeks bumping the roll call of the 61 complainants towards 100.

The charming financial adviser who allegedly operated an elaborate Ponzi scheme and solicited friends, family and colleagues to invest in her company knowing they were less likely to question her motives, vanished from her $6 million Dover Heights home in the hours after Australian Federal Police and ASIC officers raided her affairs three months ago.

She is accused of squirrelling away millions of dollars of investors’ funds in 29 personal and company bank accounts instead of investing in shares so she could access investor funds to bankroll her $600,000-a-year lifestyle.

Sources say she cast her net wider than originally thought with the number of alleged victims continuing to rise

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/truecrimeaustralia/police-courts/investors-bel...

A group of 15 people who invested nearly $6 million with Melissa Caddick want her Dover Heights mansion and other assets sold immediately and the net proceeds paid to those she allegedly duped.

The group‘s lawyer has drafted “position papers” setting out their claim over the alleged fraudster’s estate in a bid to stop it being eroded by her family’s living expenses and legal fees.

The group estimates the runaway financial adviser may owe as much as $25m to investors and that her net assets could be as much as $5.6m, giving a maximum potential return of 21 cents in the dollar.

However, in correspondence sent to the corporate regulator ASIC, they express concern that as much as $750,000 of this could be chewed up by living expenses and legal fees if the assets aren‘t sold quickly.

The Federal Court awarded Caddick’s unemployed husband Anthony Koletti $1,700 a week living expenses including school fees for her teenage son after he told the court he had only $1.95 in his bank account. Her younger brother Adam Grimley has racked up $110,000 in legal fees.

The money we invested was entrusted to be managed in shares for our futures. We want to get justice, we want her found and held accountable.

“What’s happened has been deeply upsetting and disheartening. We have to get on with our working lives, we have to be parents, it has affected our entire lives and our children.”

Financial records show that from January 2018 until September 2020 a total of $20.279 million was deposited into Caddick’s accounts of which she has withdrawn all but $674,966.97.

Dominic Calabria, a partner at Bridges Lawyers, who detailed the“position paper” for court states Caddick’s $7.5 million Dover home is worth $3,370,446.93 when the mortgage is paid. The $3.2million Edgecliff penthouse she bought her parents has a net worth of $1,524,000.00

It is the Investors whose interests are those that need protecting, no one is seeking to punish persons against whom no positive findings have been made one way or the other,” Mr Calabria said.

“Ms Caddick and Mr Koletti household and the Caddick family members have been financing their living expenses for some period of time, seemingly many years, through the use of Investor Funds … For how long is it reasonable for Caddick family members to continue to live on Investors Funds?”

Caddick vanished from her Dover Heights hours after AFP and ASIC raided her home on November 11.
.

ASIC’s case against Ms Caddick will return to court on February 22 where the administrators of her company are expected to detail their investigations into where the money has gone

I would want them sold as well.....why isnt the husband WORKING ????

Missing accountant Melissa Caddick went on a document-shredding spree around the time the corporate watchdog began investigating her over claims of a multimillion-dollar fraud.

Former colleagues who worked with the Dover Heights businesswoman have provided police with an important insight into Ms Caddick’s professional life and behaviour before her disappearance last November

The women and their families unwittingly became alleged victims after trusting Ms Caddick with their life savings.

The news comes as authorities edge closer to launching a criminal investigation into Ms Caddick’s alleged scam and adding her name to NSW’s wanted list.

While the mother-of-one, 49, has not been seen since the Australian Securities and Investments Commission raided her home on November 11, police suspect she may still be alive.

Investigators recently learnt that Ms Caddick organised a document destruction company to get rid of hundreds of files from her home in September last year.

The company swept up the documents and destroyed them all offsite.

At the time, Ms Caddick was running her finance firm Maliver Pty Ltd from an office inside her $6m mansion, where she also hosted clients for lavish lunches and dinners.

The shredding occurred around September 8, when ASIC kicked off its investigation into Ms Caddick after learning she was using someone else’s Australian Financial Services Licence to manage clients’ money.

please dont tell me Anthony didnt know about this. Undecided

she goes walkabout in Nov    so she had plenty of time to make arrangements to disappear.....things might change when she is no longer classed as a missing person.

Goodness knows where she is. She would have had Plan B, no doubt about it.  The Police have undoubtedly used Photoshop to create a few different pictures of her (with different hair styles, etc).  She is a plain looking woman and without the jewels and fashion garments she would blend in quite well anywhere and not be noticed.  Wink
