Would you get on this flight? Horrified passenger shares a photo of a PACKED Qantas plane with travellers sitting right next to each other despite strict social-distancing rules

Qantas passenger claims he was on packed plane in breach of social distancing
Was on flight from Townsville in North Queensland to Brisbane on Monday
Qantas has slashed flights between the two cities from 36 per week to just 14

A passenger claims the photo was taken on a flight from Townsville to Brisbane on Monday

The passenger insists the photo was taken on Monday and also shared a photo of his boarding pass to back up his claim.

What sort of firearm was used when the passengers were forced onto the plane at gunpoint?

I'm curious.

Notice that no one is wearing a mask?

What I notice is the distinct lack of anyone being forced to board the plane.

What I notice is that the Govts. are handing out
heavy fines for people who are respecting social distancing laws
yet they allow people on aircraft to be stacked in like sardines, cheek to jowl.

It's another blunder that should go in the Coronavirus blunder thread.

fearful presence?

I've never been scared of police, even in the old days when driving drunk

Sophia wrote on Apr 14th, 2020 at 2:10pm:
But I’m astonished at the amount of fines issued!

that says more about the number of people not listening or following the rules. More often than not, the cops are giving warnings and moving people on with no fines. It's only when they think you're deliberately ignoring the rules that they fine you. Of course, there will be some cops who go to far, just as there will be those that don't go far enough, all in all, i think they're doing a pretty good job

A lot of the fines were later refunded or withdrawn because they were, quite frankly, stupid. And they are just the glaringly obvious ones. We are seeing all sorts of issues caused by handing the police unchecked authority to be dicks.

they were refunded? so they weren't unchecked after all, you made it up?

It's a rapidly changing situation. Mistakes will be made From all sides. Crying that your a victim and should do away with fines altogether won't help anyone, it'll just endanger innocent people

They are still getting away with the excesses they are getting away with. As I just explained. It was only the "too stupid to sweep under the rug" ones that got refunded.

there is always an excess they get away with, for all fines. When you invent a perfect system you be sure to let them know about it.

How many fines for using mobile phones while driving where the person claimed they weren't? sure most caught are liars, but the laws of probability say that some are bound to be a mistake on the officers part. Having a hand near your ear is no guarantee of a phone.

Does that mean that we do away with all fines for using mobiles? no, because the benefit out weights the negatives. Same rule applies here. The benefits to the health of the community out weight a few fines due to overzealous police.

It was on the news that a lot of these issued fines will be under review by the chief cops to sort. Otherwise the courts will be inundated with a lot of cases for review. Many will be withdraw as a result based on common sense.
Galbally himself said a lot of them can be rebuked in court.
I suppose what the mainstream police were doing was shoot first, ask questions later.
Like it’s been said, it is all new, and to be a policeman having to scour the grounds by foot to everyone out in the open, and in shops too, is different to anything done before, there will be uncertainties, but so far, my area I live in, everyone has been marvellous with physical distancing and we have no cases of the virus 👌
In fact, I’m loving these physical distancing rules, so much space around me, so good! Everyone gets out of your way 🤗

Very funny John 😆
No acreage space in shopping centres though.
Being a country gal had its advantages and then some not so.

Yes being isolated is something that’s not new to me.
One gets used to it, liking their own company.
It does concern me many living in cramped apartments won’t cope.

I’ve never agreed with, or understood why the normal 1/4 or 1/3 acre block that was good enough in past to raise kids with a back yard, is now chopped up and subdivided into all cramped style units.

Is it any wonder, going out to eat all the time occurs?
Is it any wonder none are hardly having kids or maybe just one? Maybe!
Is it any wonder they always find an excuse to get out of their cramped living quarters?
Is it any wonder they like to travel more than the average retired persons?

And who would blame them, I would too!

But this stay at home rule must be hurting as no hobbies, never cooking much, (yet Uber eats etc are doing a roaring boom at present)
Hopefully some different set of life skills are learnt.
Adaption is one of them.
Keeping positive and not feeling sorry for oneself is another.
Being thankful not being ill is another.

My elder cousin (like a big brother to me) is in hospital, a week ago went in for emergency operation for bowel cancer, he is fit (ex bantam weight boxer) trim, and grows his own veges.
The operation was stuffed up, complication occurred, went back in on Friday for another op, with a chance he may not make it.
He is still in intensive with tube down his throat.
He has 4 adult kids and grandchildren that can’t visit him due to the c-virus risk.
Only his wife and 2 of his adult kids can visit one at a time, a day apart.
His other 2 adult kids not allowed because they work in the community.

What a time to have an emergency illness.
So I say, whether we have much living space or not, is more space and contact with people, than restricted to a hospital bed.

i honestly don't know how they do it. It would drive me nuts. Especially if they have young kids that can't go out except maybe one walk a day.  My kids spend half of every day either jumping on the trampoline or riding bikes and scooters around the house, or climbing trees., i even set up a leggo station outside for them so they're in the fresh air...... without that, they would never burn off their energy and they'd drive me nuts. You'd almost have no choice but to stick them in front of a monitor all day, which I detest

money. Why split a parcel into four 1/4 acres blocks when you can sell 8 450m2 blocks?

i thought the same thing with my knee ... wasn't looking forward to hospital in this environment. But i have to say, they were brilliant. I saw nothing that gave me cause for concern once I was there

John, my mum used to say when I felt loopy with the kids endless energectic antics, “better they wear out their shoes and not bed sheets”

Was thinking about keeping them amused outdoors, as you live in a great climate area, I saw some were doing the backyard camping scenario, tents and all.
That would be a cool thing to do. And have outdoor picnics.
As I live in a area where it rains practically all 52 weeks per annum 😏
I used to, in winter, during school holidays, set up tent indoors, with beach towels out, deck chairs, and the kids loooooved it!

Imagination play is always key.

When they were even younger, bob cardboard boxes made into cubby houses with a door and window.

I’m getting all nostalgic now. Miss them as little kids.
Where the time has gone?

BTW.... how’s your knee going?

Heartbroken daughter is left 'inconsolable' as ARMED POLICE storm her father's funeral to enforce ten-person limit

A woman was left 'inconsolable' after armed police officers interrupted her father's funeral to enforce a 10-person attendance limit imposed as part of coronavirus social distancing rules.

Helen Kolovos' funeral for her father in Victoria on Saturday was disrupted by two officers who walked into the church as his coffin was being carried out near the end of the service.

Ms Kolovos said the officers started counting the number of people in attendance.

The federal government imposed a limit of 10 people at funerals last month in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19, which has killed 61 Australians and infected more than 6,300.

Ms Kolovos said they had complied with the ten-person limit, and family members even sat in separate pews despite coming from the same household.

How did I just know it was going to be Victoria again...

In case anyone hasn't picked up on this logic, Social Distancing is an effective way of limiting contagious disease. I have no sympathy for dimwits who, by their ignorance or contempt, endanger the rest of us. And just for those who think the situation is not that serious, I suggest you Google the mathematical models for Covid19's effect without restrictions. The numbers are staggering. The health system would collapse, and the whingers would be demanding something was done about it, as they watched friends and loved ones die. No society would be able to maintain order.

My oldest would freak out if he had to sleep in a tent outdoors with his brother. He'd be fine if I were with him, but until i get out of this knee brace that won't happen

knee is much improved thanks. I'm just stuck with the brace for a few more weeks.
