The fun-police state

http://www.ozpolitic.com/articles/fun-police-state-coronoavirus.html

I am becoming increasingly concerned that this nation is losing its perspective in the face of the Coronavirus. The PM has unleashed an army of jealous wowsers, curtain twitchers and hall monitors to dictate how their neighbours live. We are banned from heading out and being seen to have fun or do something frivolous. Yet we are literally forced to go out and engage in high risk activities so long as it is our least favourite thing to do.

What does this say about our values? I can understand people’s fear of Australia turning into another Italy. And just to be clear, I think we should keep the ban on men hugging men when this is all over (unless they want to have sex with each other). Also, wildly gesticulating while you are talking on your mobile phone. You could poke an old lady’s eye out. Pay attention when you gesticulate in public. But we seem to have decided that the virus is God’s retribution on the Italians for the crime of being happy and having more fun than us.

Case in point, children are being forced to attend school until they actually come down with the virus or kill their grandmother, in which case they might be lucky enough to get a rare funeral invite. The apparent reason is that school is both important and urgent, even though the benefit might be more than ten years away. Also, it might stop parents doing something equally miserable - going to work. The real reason is threefold. First, children are less likely to shoot you if you force them to do something they hate (though I acknowledge the land of liberty making inroads here). Second, our country is obsessed with the petty achievements of our children, and this extends way beyond celebrating their first wet dump. We are so obsessed that we are forcing the babysitters at the childcare centres to get a PhD in education so they can invent creative ways to get children to remember things their brains are not yet ready to absorb. We have proof that this ‘works’, because these kids do better than their less fortunate peers in grade 1, which is some kind of end in itself. We even invented the most absurd, convoluted way of doing long division (a key life skill if ever there was one), so that children can now be better than their parents at something, even if they lack the mental capacity to figure out what half a dozen means without a pen, paper and ten minutes to spare. Don’t get distracted, the lesson is not finished yet. Thirdly, there is a good chance they will get bullied at school and have a miserable time. Maybe the little runs will even tease them about their sick grandmother. So sending kids to school is our top priority.

Contrast this to my plight. The Prime Minister appears to have announced that I am not allowed to play tennis or even go fishing. I could be a kilometre offshore, by myself, ten meters underwater, and more likely to get eaten by a shark (by the way, what’s up with all the sharks lately?) than to catch or spread a virus. But someone is going to be pissed off with me for doing the wrong thing. Especially if I catch a big Spanish Mackerel and post a photo on facebook.

Another case in point: We are allowed five people at a wedding and ten at a funeral. This is Australian values distilled down to cold, hard mathematics. But even this understates our wowserness. The minimum requirement for a funeral is 1 person (not counting the guy who fills in the hole afterwards). And this is just a technicality, not a legal requirement. But you actually need 5 people for a legal wedding. One man, one woman (as God/Nature/The Government intended). Two witnesses. And someone official to tell you that you are married. There has never been a legal requirement for witnesses to make sure someone is actually dead before you bury them, which in my opinion is far more important. I now pronounce you legally dead. You may bury the corpse. Please sign here. And you, sign here. Getting back to the maths lesson, you can have ten times the minimum requirement of people at a funeral, but only one times the minimum requirement at a wedding. So that’s actually a 10:1 ratio, not a 2:1 ratio.

I have a better idea. Let’s ban funerals altogether. This is not some kind of macabre weekend at Bernie’s thing, though the jury is still out on how infectious a corpse is. Think about this: we have a lot of unused ice skating rinks, because ice skating is fun, even solo. In fact it is the most fun of all when you are by yourself, because you aren’t going to lose a finger if you end up sprawled on the ice. So let’s put the bodies there. Throw a tarp over the top to keep the cold air in. When summer comes around again, or someone invents a vaccine, or everyone has caught the virus, we can thaw them out (or not) and bury them. We could be as collectively miserable as we want. Maybe then we could have a few extra people at weddings.

A lot of us are getting a six month holiday for the first time in our life. Those of us still working are very concerned about this. You are not allowed to enjoy the holiday, because unemployed people are meant to line up at Centrelink and frown (but not scowl in case that intimidates the bureaucrat and he feels bullied). Sneezing is also acceptable, so long as you use your magic elbow to kill the virus.

The Prime Minister has given his wowser army a sneaky trick in the fight against good times. He has granted them unlimited leeway to interpret what a gathering is. So how do you tell if people are gathering illegally? Look deep inside yourself and ask, do I feel jealous? If the answer is yes, it is a gathering. People queuing at Centrelink? Not a gathering. People stuck in traffic? Not a gathering. But how dare you sit on the beach and enjoy the sun and fresh air when you should be sitting in a windowless office next to sneezy George. If I put my camera down at my ankles I can even take a photo of you smiling with at least 100 other people stretched out in the distant background along the white, sandy gathering.

Quite right freediver

The mediocre man thinks to himself that he is virtuously protecting the 95 year-old in the nursing home
But it is not love of the unfortunate that drives him
It is hatred of the happy and successful

I have to admit that I went fishing yesterday
And you are correct that if pictures had been posted on social media
The mediocre
Jealous scalds would have come out to play

I also did not vote in the council election on Saturday
And I shall not be paying the fine

As Alexander soljenitsin said
It is on each individual in society
To not engage with the tyrannical nature of those who are reprehensible

I really felt I had a moral duty not to vote
I really felt I had a moral duty to take the sun fishing and show him that real Australians do not melt in the face of adversity

To show him that cowering in the corner like a frightened prey animal is never a good idea

Ahh yes, that old chestnut...

When is a pile a heap? When is a hill a mountain? When does casual sex become a commitment to a monogamous relationship?

And... finally.... how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

So what your saying is the most populous regions/continents & sub-continents are still breeding like flies as they have always done?

People gathering at a beach in numbers can still be affected by a carrier.

How they arrive at the beach is another concern .... not all would drive their own vehicles.

We were supposed to travel an hour north on Wednesday to babysit our grandkids whilst Dad takes Mum to a medical appointment. Dad is a front line respondent being a copper. We are now staying home as directed.

Everybody should be staying home in an effort to slow or stop this virus spreading.

What I'm critical of Morrison for is for making a set of guidlines for isolation & closures of business then reneging on them because people whinged.

i.e. increasing the time for customers to go to the hairdresser & barber ...... the virus doesn't tell time. And in the current crisis with isolations who gives a phuc what your hair looks like? The fashion parade has been put on hold!

Keeping schools open as baby sitting venues for kids whose both parents work. It has been seen that the virus does attack children & younger adults........ & that all the propaganda that children were safe from it was complete BS.

With all the money being dished out ... instead of doubling the dole for long term unemployed the should be paying one parent to stay at home with the kids.

And with the first near 300 ex cruise ship passengers quarantined to a hotel in Sydney the whinging from them has already started. The idiots need to shut up & get on with it. They can't all be trusted to self isolate... that's already been proven.

There are another 7 cruise ships full of self centred idiots due to dock in Sydney this week.

Imagine all of them being allowed to out into the community & trusted to "go straight home & isolate" for 2 weeks?

These ships have been vectors of infection/disease for ages.

As far as the title of "fun Police State" - what other suggestions do you have for tackling this virus outbreak?

People made sacrifices to liberties during times of war ....... this is just another type of war.

Do your bit & stop whinging about it ....

no one is happy about the restrictions.

I wonder why we need fun police, when people are being asked to distance themselves from others, not congregate in large areas to reduce the spread of this, and then we have scenes like people at the beach , wandering around COmmonwealth Park in Canberra in huge numbers (such as I saw on Sunday), panic buying of toilet paper, people wearing masks and gloves (including the dhead I saw on Saturday wearing goggles, gloves with a mask around his neck).

You people can't be trusted to just obey simple requests, so of course we need fun police.

Spot checks and using face time, by the Police, on people that were supposed to be self isolating, have shown just how belligerent some people are to ignore that guideline, to self isolate, to be given the trust to do so.

Yes, in the affluent area of Toorak, where apparently those affluent rich areas have the highest amount of infections.
When it was asked about why these areas were more effected, in some news interview, the answer totally avoided mention of that doctor, whom had seen 70 patients.

It seems to me it’s almost taboo to mention his name ::)

How about we run this Country 'Castro' style.
We knock our Political empowerment down a few notches and become Communist (Egalitarian-like ;)) but raise our Medical empowerment up to give our people an extra 20-30 years longer (than the USA average) life from a 'Stress Free' country and good Health?

The West has a 'subordinated' Medical Industry in the face of the empowerment of Politics. This is the best you get "Wash your hands and stay at home." - the typical life of a subordinate Health Worker afraid of catching germs from people.
This is the life a lot of them live - some because they have to... working in Operating Theatres where the chance of infection can be high if performed in a busy shopping mall.

You don't like it the way it is? Well would you prefer New Zealand's style next door in Big Brother Oceania?
Maybe the other side with South Africa? Can you imagine what it would be like to do the Australian style in South Africa? Do you think those hordes of clicking Xhosians are going to 'stay home'? Hunger will drive them out.

Don't worry. The Politicians will 'go out' because of the Hunger too.
Soon they'll tire of being prevented from making money and having to spend it like a payment to the People.

That said. Shouldn't we be putting Sanctions, as should the World - on China?
I mean - the Government placed a full 1/4 of our Economy on China and look what has become of it.
We put our Money on a sick Chinese Economy.
This Virus is the price China pays to get ahead.
It is a False Economy and a very sick one at that.
It will happen again and possibly even worse.
Unless Sanctions are imposed and China changes it's ways.

"In Italy, one in ten people diagnosed die, according to the findings of the Science publication, that is statistically one of every 1,000 people infected. Yes ... that's the same attitude they displayed by leaving the country for OS holidays/cruises after this virus was well & truly a global issue.

Ignorant & arrogant pharking idiots.

That even goes for that Melbourne Doctor Chris Higgins .... who failed to show any common sense & err on the side of caution after he returned from OS.

I hope they lock him up....

then we have the mod flown in and put in good hotels  whining about the time their breakfast is delivered..

oh its so hard on the children......as if! >:( >:( >:( >:(

On a news report last night it was shown that several of the whingers in the forced hotel isolation were doctors.

Whining that they should be allowed to go home & self isolate ... and that their rooms weren't getting the linen changed daily, the food was no good etc etc.

It shows education & qualifications don't amount to intelligence & commonsense.

They chose to go OS in the company of people from all over the globe at a time when the virus was well & truly near or declared a global pandemic......

they should just STFU, do the 14 days & then go home. And go into isolation like the rest of us.

Selfish arrogant arseholes.

I bet some TV station will want to do a "their story".  ::)

Not according to mate from Mackay who rang me yesterday.

He has just bought a 24ft Shark Cat ..... not allowed to take it to the boat ramp .... ramp closed.

I imagine that has to do with the numbers of people who could be there launching & retrieving at the same times.

A lot of people own boats ...... & only 2 people are allowed to be together.

I would suggest that the Transport Minister in QLD Mark Bailley has foolishly contradicted the guidelines for corona virus isolation in regards to boating/fishing not being an essential activity ..... unless it's your business or you live or work on an island.

I believe the initial directives given by Transport & Main Roads were correct .....

and because of whinging another idiot politician has folded and made an exception to the rules ..... like Morrison did with Hairdressers & Barbers.

They more they do this the less likely the isolation strategies will work & the more likely people will disregard the directives.  ::)

Barra don't have it

& Spanish Mackrel are not caught commercially in the highest ciguatera incidence zone of Platypus Bay(Hervey Bay) -

https://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/view/whole/html/asmade/sl-2019-0076

Quote:
53
Taking or possessing particular fish—Platypus Bay

A person must not in the Platypus Bay regulated waters—
(a)take any of the following fish for trade or commerce—
(i)catfish of the family Ariidae;
(ii)cobia;
(iii)giant queenfish;
(iv)great barracuda;
(v)spanish mackerel;
(vi)pickhandle barracuda;
(vii)yellowtail kingfish; or
(b)possess a fish taken in contravention of paragraph (a).

Most of these are because of Ciguatera.

Even stinking catfish are on the list  ;D

It's been in effect for a long long time. Yet you can get ciguatera anywhere along the NSW/QLD coasts from several different known good eating species including Coral Trout.
http://www.fishandboat.com.au/articles/item/38-ciguatera-hidden-toxin

I've eaten Spanish from other areas further north no dramas.

But you can never tell.

Could be Nile Perch ...... they often use it & call it Barra.

Same family & genus as Barra ... different species.

Barra  - L. calcarifer  / Nile - L. niloticus

Barra have fresh & salt water phases in their lives .... saltwater the best eating.

Nile are completely freshwater water(Africa).

they have darker meat that tastes ordinary to shyte. (The only Trevally usable as an eating fish are Golden Trevalley ... is that what you meant by GT?)

Asian sea bass are also good.

It was sold as sea or salt water barramundi. Did not taste like freshwater fish. I have never eaten one I would rate as 'good'. However it did have a thin layer of translucent fat under the skin which I have only ever seen before on yellowbelly.

You're probably not allowed within 1.5 mtrs of the fish, so you'll need to cut the line before it reaches the shore/boat/jetty.

Well FD.

Hunger will drive them out.

...and it's Hunger that will make you drive out and disobey the laws.
Desperate times ahead in the Year of Living Dangerously.  ;)

Yes. I am all out of Spanish Mackerel. I had to resort to buying Barramundi for $10/kg on the weekend.

The farmed rubbish?

No idea. From coles. Was off an enourmous fish. The staff bought most of it. Some kind of shenanigans. I've heard the wholesale price has crashed, but not the retail.

Yeah - typical ey?

Could be Nile Perch ...... they often use it & call it Barra.

Same family & genus as Barra ... different species.

Barra  - L. calcarifer  / Nile - L. niloticus

Barra have fresh & salt water phases in their lives .... saltwater the best eating.

Nile are completely freshwater water(Africa).

It's quite OK to eat.

Much better an import than that hormone fed shitpond grown Vietnamese catfish rubbish they call BASA ........

Asian Sea Bass is Barramundi - same fish.

they can be found throughout SE Asia to the Indian sub-continent.

Most of the imported barra is from Vietnam ..... and it's farmed in freshwater.

You can tell farmed barra .... it is a lot darker skinned & fins are nearly black.

I don't like the taste of freshwater barra ... even wild caught from floodplain billabongs or man made impoundments.

Australian farmed barra is equally bleeeeh.

Wild caught saltwater barra is very silvery & the best eating.

There are plenty of other saltwater fish that taste better than Barra.

But is that really essential?

No recreation fishermen relies on fishing for daily subsistence.

What has happened in QLD is your state Transport Minister has muddied the waters over the restriction rules & boaties thinks it's ok to go out fishing.

Not thinking that people numbers at boat ramps will see more people than necessary in one place for launching & retrieving.

That Volunteer Marine Rescue Services have shut down or have next to no monitoring...... leaving boaties at risk if they have any problems on the water ..... & risk spreading contagion if they have to be rescued.

Going fishing for amateurs is NOT ESSENTIAL.

It's selfish & indulgent to the whiney bastards who only care about themselves.

No-one relies on any one particular source for their food. You could for example grow cabbage in your backyard rather than going shopping. But then it might dawn on you that "not relying on it" is not actually a rational argument.

Do you really think people will have trouble staying more than 1.5m from others at the ramp?

If you use a telephoto lens it foreshortens the scene to make it look like people are closer together than they actually are. The media have been using that trick a lot lately.

There was also that "ambush" shown on Media Watch where ACA (I think) went into a takeaway shop where a tradie was sitting in a corner by himself eating his lunch. ACA were shaming him and the shop owner for breaking the rules. The tradie just said "I'm just eating my lunch by myself".

Getting viewers "outraged" is an old tactic used by tabloid media. We've seen it in the War on Christmas stories that appear very year before Christmas, we've seen it in the dolebludger stories they roll out on slow news days. Now we are just seeing a different version of it

If you know anything about journalism, you'd know the mantra is "If it bleeds, it leads"... Has been forever...

Compare that with non-professional journalism (e.g, social media)... If it bleeds, its an oppressed victim, if it doesn't, its a perpetrator.

Yes I saw that on Media Watch after the superb 4 Corners episode on who really was to blame.

...the Media ACA going out and blaming us Australians for not adhering to the Rules made by those who let the Virus into this country. Walking around like Gestapo on a colonial American witch-hunt of halloween. "You - yes you! Stand still laddie!" Like another brick in the wall (that now keeps you in your homes).

I very rarely get a donut. I find the shows first...don't just head to a spot and drop.
Been getting some good pearlies out wide. Always get good snapps. I throw the big ones (70+) back though. They to tough and have a strange taste imo. 50 to 70 is the good eaters. Cobia, dollies, hoo's, Spanish but I'm over Spaniards. Keep a spotty or two though. Blue bone.

I fish double island and 1770 a fair bit too. But with all this virus stuff I'll wait till that's over before heading back up...hence the boat is off the trailer and sitting on tyres so I can catch the white rust on the trailer before it gets out of control. New springs going in as well.

Still got trout and red throat in the freezer. Heaps of sharks up 1770 a couple of weeks ago. Lost some good reds to the tax man so we gave up and fished shallow for trout and lipper. We were going to self isolate at musgrave but couldn't carry enough water. Happy to live on fish but h2o is essential out there.

Believe it or not I got my biggest snapper in Moreton bay at harries. 96cm, 9.6kg on plastics. Plastics out fish bait every day of the week...for trophy fish anyway.
Still can't crack the meter mark. Not out there enough. They are there though.

So now people are getting fined if they are found to be out without a good reason.

It's 2022, The coronavirus vaccine has eradicated the virus so that we can go back to normal.
But since 2020, crime has plummeted,  road accidents have plummeted.  Hospital visits for non coronavirus reasons have plummeted. Fines for noncompliance have soared.

Maybe the governments will leave these laws in place. After all, if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about  ;)

Thanks to these idiots (the ones in government or the 'crowd' on the beach?) the council has decided to start closing some beaches. This will concentrate beachgoers on the remaining open beaches, thus giving journalists something to report on.

In other news, sales of telephoto lenses have skyrocketed.

I'm certain they will keep some new laws. Who's writing all the new ones down to see which ones remain?
The law book will be an encyclopedia set × 10 soon.

I hate laws and I hate lawyers. Parasites of the earth. Fkkkers charge a bloody fortune for something that is basically thrust upon us without signing up. Fraudulant.

This CCP virus brings the Bwianesque milk monitors out of all the servants of the state.

Coronavirus: Victorian lockdown L-plater cops fine lesson for driving with mum

Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton says he’s satisfied a $1652 social distancing fine issued to a 17-year-old because she was undertaking a driving lesson with her mother was legal after the state’s Chief Health Officer backed the infringement.

But Mr Patton said the fine will still be reviewed to see if police discretion should be used.

“Although we are satisfied that that was a lawfully issued infringement, I’ve spoken with the Assistant Commissioner for the region and in conjunction with a member … we’ll be looking at whether discretion should or could be applied in this circumstance.

Mum and daughter ventured half an hour's drive from home during a driving lesson - $1652 fine.  Social distancing. It's a lawfully issued fine - Rulez must be obeyed at all timez!!- but it is a ridiculous, idiotic fine, nonetheless.

It warms the hearts of all the milk monitors who look no further than the state to be the solution to everything.

Victoria - is it really that stupid down there??

so would it be ok if someone calls for help as they appear to be  drowning

no one goes to rescue them for fear of breaking the  social distancing regulations.... ::)

or maybe they sign declarations  no help needed..

Good to see you have your priorities in order cods.

During the Spanish Flu. If you go help someone (stranger) like  from Drowning which results in full body contact - then there is a high chance that both that person and now yourself will die soon. People never took that risk during the Spanish Flu. 50 million people world wide probably did.

Mum and daughter ventured half an hour's drive from home during a driving lesson - $1652 fine.  Social distancing. It's a lawfully issued fine - Rulez must be obeyed at all timez!!- but it is a ridiculous, idiotic fine, nonetheless.

Why not?
The grubberment, police and every public servant lies to us every time they open their mouth.

I can see no issue with driving lessons.
Think about it,

They are in the car together, or in their house together....what's the difference?

They are not going anywhere, so are highly unlikely to spread the virus.
But if they were going to work, to keep the income tax flowing, it would be OK.

But in Victoria, the idiot state, they get booked.
And it's true, they are the idiot state.
Allowing DARKIES to run rampant and hiding it from everyone " nothing to see here folks"

They have some of the most draconian speed detection methods on earth " money, money money"

And generally most Victorians are several points behind on the IQ scale, but that could be all the muzzos, DARKIES and monkeys dragging them down.

Quote:
Police have withdrawn the fine they issued to a 17-year-old learner driver in Melbourne on the weekend, after she was pulled over for non-essential travel.

Sheree Reynolds, who was giving her daughter Hunter a driving lesson from their home in Hampton to Frankston on Sunday, said she was shocked by the fine.

Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton said while the fine was legally issued, it had been withdrawn because there was some confusion within the community about whether driving lessons with a parent were allowed.

Why would you bother when you can get Pearlies, Trout, Snapper, & Lipper. Even mackeral comes in behind these & but ahead of cobia.

Double Island(from beach) is closed.... just past the rocks at Rainbow.

I'd say Freshwater Camp ground is also closed.

I'm due to go to Gladstone in Oct-Nov .... I hope that this shyte won't drag out til then. I stay at a house on Facing Island down Gatcombe Head end.

Only fish from beach & chuck a pot in creek.

Haven't been outside for 2 years.

Sold my boat about 4 years ago maybe 5  :'(

Too big to handle on my own now.

re: "I love my fishing".

Aww no. Cobes are good. AJ's are not so good.
It's all in the way you fillet them.
Have to avoid the red/brown flesh and just keep the white only....and nothing over 10kg.

Happy to take you for a run out off DI next time. We have a place booked in Nov for 2 weeks every year.
I'm always on my own. Missus doesn't do offshore. Kids still to young. Got a 6m plate hardtop. Rides beautiful. Very safe boat.

Hopefully get up there earlier but this virus seems like it's hanging around for a spell.

Have you ever followed this bloke?

No...can't say I have.
Will check it out.
Cheers.

He sounds these spots he calls "wonkey holes" ... always seems to catch fish on them.

If you've got a flash sounder you should be able to see what he means.

Yeah righto. I know about wonky holes. They happen more up in the reef. Underwater springs. Only became aware of them a few years back. A lad from WA started at work...mad fisho. He told me of them.
Finding them is difficult.
In saying that I recon I have one off Moreton Is. Can see it on the sounder....but only sometimes.
Good fish nearby too.

never mind.  Make sense of people in self imposed isolation phoning for food deliveries

Revealing article today

claims our government (and all others most likely)

are literally printing money

as much as they like

The information came to light in response to the question: 'Where's all this money coming from'

Answer:  they're creating it, making it, printing it, much as they like

gee, can't see any downsides there, can we ?

Guess they know they can do it, seeing the NWO will eradicate national currencies and replace with a one world currency as soon as the world's populace has bowed to the vaccine and has surrendered all their rights to the NWO

before that, though, we'll probably end up paying $300 for a slice of bread ala Venezuela

There is usually a 10% interest on money printed out for the Government. Obama did it to save his arse.
Buy now, pay 10% more later to the Banks.

So how is ScoMoAustralia getting away with just 'Printing' out money? Especially when they are trying to smuggle the USA's CASHLESS system in to replace printed money?
Why we would have a 'system' from a Nation (USA) that is so Economically stuffed and in Debt?  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

How bloody rediculous. She's on a driving lesson in a private car.

Still see people walking the beaches and swimming where I am.
But we don't have the 'high density' that City beaches have.
So not much has changed really, here.
Still see families out and about enjoying the outdoors here.

Alas, everything is modelled on Australia's high-density Cities and the rest of the country has to follow suit because of these inferior uncivilised city people. They've spoiled everything!

How high? Even at the height of the beach panic, you could still go to Bondi and maintain the required social distance.

yes, govco should slap them with a wet lettuce leaf and leave it at that

responses get stricter when people ignore the rules as they stand. If everyone followed the rules, there would be no need to tighten the restrictions. If you have a problem with tightening of restrictions, follow the rules instead of crying. It's not that difficult

True. But most don't. Bondi is not really about the Surf. It's one of the most crappiest Beaches in Australia. Stinks like turd hardened by salt. Heaps of Rips. Waves are mostly 'dumpers'. Thieves roam the vacant towels looking for keys or phones under them. Life Savers can't work unless they have Camera's watching them. Beach Masters slug along like Elephant Seals looking for a easy wet female for their harem. Foreign Gangs find safety in numbers to act tough.

It's all about the 'Scene' and the Businesses around the Beach. All about Money & Sex.

Bondi is where its all about 'getting together'.

Little wonder the Back Packers kept on going in Partay' mood.

So now 'every' Beach is considered to be like Bondi.
It's ludicrous I know. Considering this type of Beach activity is only seen on 5% of all Australian beaches.

Apparently on all Night Dives. All Divers must stay at least 1.5m away, even in low viz conditions. Never know what you might catch down there.

This is getting ridiculous - fined for visiting a remote beach? WTF? Do the police really have nothing better to do? Shouldn't they be staying home to avoid spreading the virus rather than travelling in groups to remote areas just to be pricks?

Coronavirus restrictions: Group of men caught eating pizza in car filmed arguing with police

https://www.news.com.au/world/coronavirus/australia/coronavirus-restrictions-group-of-men-caught-eating-pizza-in-car-filmed-arguing-with-police/news-story/1a8735366531796351882c69e3d7e625?fbclid=IwAR1i9dyuSyWM-COJafgtyezc1sErZzELtRe2tEp6dLXU0Y_OGmYj6s-xPyQ

A group of men who were allegedly caught sitting in their car eating pizza over the weekend have been filmed in a fiery exchange with police.

A group of men have been caught out by new coronavirus restrictions after police saw them sitting in a car together eating pizza over the weekend.

The group of four was caught in Condell Park in southwest Sydney on Saturday afternoon when they were spotted by police, who moved in to break up the gathering.

But the incident escalated as more than 10 officers attended the scene, and one of the men was handcuffed and began arguing with officers.

“Look at what youse have done to me, and for what?” one of the men — handcuffed and sitting on a driveway — yelled at police during the exchange, which was filmed and posted online.

Police across the country cracked down on Aussies flouting social distancing restrictions over the Easter long weekend, and issued on-the-spot fines to more than 100 people in NSW alone on Saturday.

“We’re sitting down eating and the f***ing dogs came for no reason,” one of the men says during the lengthy exchange.

“Under the legislation of this country, I’m entitled to say whatever I want, to whoever I want,” another of the men tells the officers.

Two Milperra men, aged 22 and 26, were fined $1000 each for failing to comply with a public health order, according to a statement from NSW Police. Police also fined an older man at the scene for using offensive language.

RELATED: All the fines you can cop for ignoring virus rules

RELATED: The only valid excuses for going outside

NSW Police issued a total of 111 fines in 24 hours over Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

Recipients of the fines included a Darlinghurst woman, 25, who was spotted by police at Copacabana Beach on the Central Coast on Saturday. She told police she was watching her boyfriend surfing and was fined $1000.

Police also went to the remote village of Sandon in the Northern Rivers region on Saturday after being told a husband and wife had arrived there for the Easter break.

A man, 53, and his wife, 51, told police they’d been in the area for two weeks. But police found they’d only arrived two days beforehand. They were both fined $1000 and told to return home to Lennox Head.

Police said they also had to speak with another couple and their two children, and tell them to return to their home in Petersham in Sydney’s inner west.

Police also had to move on four people who they spotted sitting on a park bench at Maroubra Junction on Saturday afternoon.

After conducting checks they found all four members of the group, three men, 33, 45 and 55, and a woman, 32, had previously been warned about following social distancing orders.

They were told they’d be fined and moved on from the area according to NSW Police.

I think we have become so good at shielding our eyes from the realities of life that when it finally breaks back through people like Pecca start sucking their thumb into a catatonic state of fear. That's why people get outraged that the Chinese are already back buying bats for dinner at the wet market, while we have industrial incinerators to quietly dispose of the corpses of pets we no longer want. That's why people get hysterical about others insisting on having fun while they cower at home in fear, and throw all perspective out the window in telling others what they should and should not be doing. That's how Pecca somehow deluded himself into thinking that banning people from beaches was somehow based on medical advice. It's why people think this virus is some major catastrophe, yet when we look at all of Australia's death statistics you would not even be able to see the blip. So they sit at home eating themselves to death in fear of having any fun.

Shoppers 'distressed' by cop car driving into Brisbane organic market during coronavirus pandemic

hoppers and stallholders at a Brisbane organic food market have been left startled after a police car drove through the centre of the usually bustling thoroughfare.

Video posted on the Northey St Organic Farmers Market Facebook page shows the police car coming close to market stalls and customers as it patrolled the market Saturday morning.

The footage emerged almost 10 days after large crowds were seen attending the Jan Powers Powerhouse Farmers' Markets in New Farm.

The April 4 incident was slammed by Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk who threatened to shut down markets if people continued to flout social distancing rules.

The essential travel that you are allowed is within your local postcode.

Not hours drive north, south east or west regardless of isolation.

My local postcode changes within metres of our driveway as our property borders along a boundary road in a green wedge area. 🤔

Us country folk have to drive far to get to shops, unlike most suburbanites within a 5 minute walk to a shop of some sort.

I think that’s part of it too somewhere?
Not saying they not doing an active good job of making their fearful presence felt.
But I’m astonished at the amount of fines issued!
I know some fines were ridiculous and and uproar occurred, the learner driver, the man washing his car at night at a car wash, and both charges were dropped after.
So I wonder, what are the majority of fines are for? I’m certain some would be pathetic small instances as an excuse.

The Victoria police have lost a lot of good will with the public.

An old man was out alone - legally walking for exercise for 20 minutes and got tired so sat
on a park bench for 2 minutes and was fined $1652.

Someone was legally exercising alone on a paddle board
at a beach & got fined $1650.

A man was fined $1650 for being alone visiting the grave of his wife.

I'm hearing case after case on 3AW radio and
so many people are very angry about it because they
were maintaining social distance laws.

At the same time an interstate aeroplane flight showed that a plane was
packed with people sitting side by side and that was OK.
Go figure?

Some of the fines were later withdrawn.

You give the police an inch and they take a mile.

Heartbroken daughter is left 'inconsolable' as ARMED POLICE storm her father's funeral to enforce ten-person limit

A woman was left 'inconsolable' after armed police officers interrupted her father's funeral to enforce a 10-person attendance limit imposed as part of coronavirus social distancing rules.

Helen Kolovos' funeral for her father in Victoria on Saturday was disrupted by two officers who walked into the church as his coffin was being carried out near the end of the service.

Ms Kolovos said the officers started counting the number of people in attendance.

The federal government imposed a limit of 10 people at funerals last month in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19, which has killed 61 Australians and infected more than 6,300.

Ms Kolovos said they had complied with the ten-person limit, and family members even sat in separate pews despite coming from the same household.

It's only when they think you're deliberately ignoring the rules that they fine you. Of course, there will be some cops who go to far, just as there will be those that don't go far enough, all in all, i think they're doing a pretty good job

A lot of the fines were later refunded or withdrawn because they were, quite frankly, stupid. And they are just the glaringly obvious ones. We are seeing all sorts of issues caused by handing the police unchecked authority to be dicks.

Local Police = not bad.
Highway Patrol = revenue rakers.

Cops
NSW = keep the Rich honest, but turn a blind eye to the Street level poor, hence a lot of 'riots' in Sydney.
VIC = keep the poor honest, but turn a blind eye to the Rich like Skase, Packers, Bond, Grollo Bros, Rivken, etc.

SA = They sleep with your girlfriend, wife, mother, etc.
QLD = They take bribes - just ask Fitzgerald.

WA = Corrupt from top to bottom
NT = The shoot on site

Tas = the Worse Cops of all, because they make you marry into their 6 fingered Family.
ACT = Fake Cops handing out Fake Fines to Politicians.

there is always an excess they get away with, for all fines. When you invent a perfect system you be sure to let them know about it.

How many fines for using mobile phones while driving where the person claimed they weren't? sure most caught are liars, but the laws of probability say that some are bound to be a mistake on the officers part. Having a hand near your ear is no guarantee of a phone.

Does that mean that we do away with all fines for using mobiles? no, because the benefit out weights the negatives. Same rule applies here. The benefits to the health of the community out weight a few fines due to overzealous police.

It was on the news that a lot of these issued fines will be under review by the chief cops to sort. Otherwise the courts will be inundated with a lot of cases for review. Many will be withdraw as a result based on common sense.
Galbally himself said a lot of them can be rebuked in court.
I suppose what the mainstream police were doing was shoot first, ask questions later.
Like it’s been said, it is all new, and to be a policeman having to scour the grounds by foot to everyone out in the open, and in shops too, is different to anything done before, there will be uncertainties, but so far, my area I live in, everyone has been marvellous with physical distancing and we have no cases of the virus 👌
In fact, I’m loving these physical distancing rules, so much space around me, so good! Everyone gets out of your way 🤗

Very funny John 😆
No acreage space in shopping centres though.
Being a country gal had its advantages and then some not so.

Yes being isolated is something that’s not new to me.
One gets used to it, liking their own company.
It does concern me many living in cramped apartments won’t cope.

I’ve never agreed with, or understood why the normal 1/4 or 1/3 acre block that was good enough in past to raise kids with a back yard, is now chopped up and subdivided into all cramped style units.

Is it any wonder, going out to eat all the time occurs?
Is it any wonder none are hardly having kids or maybe just one? Maybe!
Is it any wonder they always find an excuse to get out of their cramped living quarters?
Is it any wonder they like to travel more than the average retired persons?

And who would blame them, I would too!

But this stay at home rule must be hurting as no hobbies, never cooking much, (yet Uber eats etc are doing a roaring boom at present)
Hopefully some different set of life skills are learnt.
Adaption is one of them.
Keeping positive and not feeling sorry for oneself is another.
Being thankful not being ill is another.

My elder cousin (like a big brother to me) is in hospital, a week ago went in for emergency operation for bowel cancer, he is fit (ex bantam weight boxer) trim, and grows his own veges.
The operation was stuffed up, complication occurred, went back in on Friday for another op, with a chance he may not make it.
He is still in intensive with tube down his throat.
He has 4 adult kids and grandchildren that can’t visit him due to the c-virus risk.
Only his wife and 2 of his adult kids can visit one at a time, a day apart.
His other 2 adult kids not allowed because they work in the community.

What a time to have an emergency illness.
So I say, whether we have much living space or not, is more space and contact with people, than restricted to a hospital bed.

i honestly don't know how they do it. It would drive me nuts. Especially if they have young kids that can't go out except maybe one walk a day.  My kids spend half of every day either jumping on the trampoline or riding bikes and scooters around the house, or climbing trees., i even set up a leggo station outside for them so they're in the fresh air...... without that, they would never burn off their energy and they'd drive me nuts. You'd almost have no choice but to stick them in front of a monitor all day, which I detest

money. Why split a parcel into four 1/4 acres blocks when you can sell 8 450m2 blocks?

John, my mum used to say when I felt loopy with the kids endless energectic antics, “better they wear out their shoes and not bed sheets”

Was thinking about keeping them amused outdoors, as you live in a great climate area, I saw some were doing the backyard camping scenario, tents and all.
That would be a cool thing to do. And have outdoor picnics.
As I live in a area where it rains practically all 52 weeks per annum 😏
I used to, in winter, during school holidays, set up tent indoors, with beach towels out, deck chairs, and the kids loooooved it!

Imagination play is always key.

When they were even younger, bob cardboard boxes made into cubby houses with a door and window.

I’m getting all nostalgic now. Miss them as little kids.

How did I just know it was going to be Victoria again...

In case anyone hasn't picked up on this logic, Social Distancing is an effective way of limiting contagious disease. I have no sympathy for dimwits who, by their ignorance or contempt, endanger the rest of us. And just for those who think the situation is not that serious, I suggest you Google the mathematical models for Covid19's effect without restrictions. The numbers are staggering. The health system would collapse, and the whingers would be demanding something was done about it, as they watched friends and loved ones die. No society would be able to maintain order.

People's personal space tends to automatically increase when they get to the beach. It's the last place you need to be policing.

What do the mathematical models tell you about catching the virus from beach sand?

they tell me that anyone making that claim has an engine that isn't working on all cylinders

for Australians yes, personal space is different though depending on which country you live in/come from. Many Europeans and Asians idea of personal space is far smaller than ours no doubt due to high population density in their cities. You can make this observation anywhere including the beach and the supermarket.  The biggest problem in this country at the moment with people breaching social distancing although the government wont admit it is from Asians and Europeans.

None of the photos I have seen clearly show people abandoning social distancing rules. They merely show the inability of the pantwetters on the forum to understand how photos of open spaces work. Like when they tried to tell me they could measure the distance between people in a photo when they were only 3 pixels high because they were in the distant background.

Like the golfer on the tee with a double water carry par five in front of him...he knows its a three shooter and he should just dink a five iron down there....but what does he do...he says stuff it...reaches for the driver and promptly carves it into the piss...reloads...hits the five iron.....
Attitude of the public will gradually condemn social distancing...….

I disagree.

People are just to big a bunch of whingers.

My preferred adjective would be TNUCs.

I went shopping yesterday & there are still way too many morons not observing social distancing & getting too close.

The restrictions won't seem so OTT if you catch it & you take a turn for the worse.

Agree and realistically is it that hard to just follow the restrictions?

Its not an obsession...just an example of how attitude
effects ones decision making.....

Umm, seems like an obsession every analogy you make seems to be about golf.

Well, no....
I referred to golf in another thread simply as an example of the tyranny being implemented by Adolf Andrews.....
Tell you what..if you don't understand the idiosyncrasies
of golf how about we have a spelling contest....
Would that be simpler for you....

And in your analogy, I would have taken the 5 iron first up. Why? Because I'm aware of my limitations and would have known I probably would have put the drive into the lake.

No because in your analogy you assume 3 shots to the green and then putting. I'm not a great putter so probably a 6.

I am referring to the restrictions on bush walking, driving, national parks, camping, and reserves. While you can mingle with thousands in shopping centres, you can't go camping or driving in solitude. Ridiculous.

They're not hard, but some are utterly ridiculous.

whats utterly rediculous is the state premiers becoming obsessed with getting the number to zero and supposedly keeping it there.

its meaningless.

the virus is in every country.

it will be reappearing again and again and again.

so frigging what if you have no cases for a month.

as soon as you put 60 people on a bus and 1000 on a train , boom, its back again.

what did you achieve?
what sustainable benefit?

Contact tracing shows that .3% of infections have occurred outdoors.

Vitamin D is thought to have a protective effect. Yeah, keeping people inside is a great idea.

Those restrictions have already been lifted.

They were only ever temporary.

Getting it to zero looks possible to me. If you have no cases for a month, and no foreigners entering, you've probably wiped it out internally and can go back to licking bus seats.

No they haven't. We are still limited in how far we can drive.

Quote:
Some restrictions have been lifted in Queensland allowing more travel, more activities, and larger gatherings.

Permitted activities include:

Up to five people can visit your home from separate households for day visits
Up to 10 people can gather for non-contact outdoor activities
You can travel up to 150km radius from your home (or 500km if you live in Outback Queensland) for recreational activities
Up to 10 people (or up to 20 people for Outback Queensland local residents) can dine in at restaurants, cafes, pubs, registered and licensed clubs and RSL clubs provided the business is following a COVID SAFE checklist

Don't care where you live .... but in QLD you're wrong.

If you're a cockroach & you still have tighter restrictions than that .... why does Gladys BigNose want the borders open?
