So an official means which a separated spouse can appeal to is needed to protect them and any children. Self control and moral behavour is so lacking in society to-day, we need yet another bureaucratic device in the system to keep spouses safe from each other and from themselves

A particularly disturbing element to the tragedy is the fact the father is reported as stated by witnesses as having escaped the burning vehicle, upon which he sprinted across the road .. back to the vehicle … to retrieve a knife with which he repeatedly stabbed himself

A mature aged witness who'd tried to assist at the scene is reported to have stated that it seemed that Baxter was trying to prevent people from getting his children out of the vehicle.  Baxter was described by the witness as crazed, angry, ranting

Imagine being at that scene where the wife had been pulled from the vehicle by brave bystanders.  The woman was described as 'crawling along the gutter' and rolling to try to extinguish the flames.  She was pulled onto the grass verge where a witness tried to hose her to extinguish the flames.  Another witness said Ms Baxter was 'smoking, on fire' and in excruciating agony

at the other extreme, the children's father, who had been pulled from the vehicle and was by that time on the opposite side of the road, sprinted back to the vehicle … not to try to pull his children from the inferno .. to retrieve a knife which he used to stab himself.  And in the process, he has been described as trying to prevent people from saving his children's lives, while ranting, struggling, raving, angry

He'd planned it in advance, had purchased the petrol, if reports are correct.  Then he waited until his wife and children were about to commence their drive to the school before dousing them and the vehicle in accelerant and setting them alight.  The children were helpless, strapped into their seats

Only God could forgive that creature
