I already HAD deep depression aged seven

it was exacerbated when my father bashed us for hours, ranting out of its head

before tossing anything movable from within the house to the front lawn

he built a pile

all our clothes, few that were

our puny collection of toys

everything we had in other words, that wasn't nailed down

He then got a can of petrol and … still ranting to draw an audience … sprinkled it over all our stuff

Sunday morning. People trying to catch a bit of extra shut-eye, looking forward to a family get together maybe, or going for a swim .. whatever normal people plan while they're dozing on Sunday morning

Then my idiot 'depressed' father jumped up on the pile of our belongings

he had quite the audience

and from his pocket, he drew a box of matches

Of course, normal people there were trying to talk him down, trying to placate the maniac

my siblings were even younger than I

my mother was cowering in shame in her nightie

'Come on ! ' screamed the maniac with the matches, 'Who's going to join me? You?' … he pointed to me, 'Come on up here with old Dad. You're not afraid of old Dad are you? '

I had to try to work out in seconds if my going up on the petrol soaked pile would mollify him

would he hesitate to light the matches if I were up there with him?

or would he continue his frenzy and set us both on fire?

in seconds, a kid has to try to figure out a bullying, dominant, 'depressed' parent figure

meanwhile, the neighbours were trying to pacify him

siblings screaming and clinging to our mother

all of us battered and bruised from the beating earlier on

Finally, the big showman allowed himself to be pulled down from our petrol soaked things

yes, he was comforted

'You don't want to do things like this, mate. Come on, let's go to our place and we can have a beer and a talk '

because at the end of the day, it was all about him

his life's dreams hadn't worked out for him

someone had to pay

And while he was being comforted, we began dragging our stuff from the pile and laying it out on the grass in the hope it would all dry and be good

of course everyone at school heard about it

including the teachers, other kids parents

Siblings and I were ostracised. Too dangerous to get involved with

shouldn't take too much investigative work to discover if the petrol container is somewhere in the wreckage, at which point it's virtually assured that the maniac was responsible

instead of manning-up, he decided life was too hard to continue and smack his kids or anyone else

right there on the footpath. Anyone could have been set on fire or blown to smithereens

sounds as if he was working with a ten year old's brain. Too much tv, too many Roadrunner cartoons where things die only to spring up unhurt a moment later. Too much ego and conceit

and way too little intestinal fortitude

he was a gutless wonder whose glory days on the field had long gone

Yet look at the photos of his wife. She'd endured three nine month pregnancies and pulled herself back into shape. She'd raised three young kids from their moment of birth. They look healthy. Whatever problems she had suffered and was suffering, she was putting her best foot forward and looking after her kids

he on the other hand was waffling on to his KIDS on facebook .. writing self-promoting shite that those kids would never, could never read or see in any case

he played to the gallery

but the gallery had moved on

he wasn't man enough to move on

just a performer

playing to the grandstand

with everyone else paying for his self indulgence

what a shame someone didn't come along just before he blazed his family

what a shame he wasn't hauled away and prevented from hurting anyone else

and how gutless …. he STABBED himself to end it fast for himself

and left his kids and wife to burn

but maybe that's all wrong. Let's wait to see. Maybe his wife was lying as she was rolling around on fire when she said he'd poured petrol on her

maybe it was some other lunatic and the father of those kids was stabbed by persons unknown simultaneous with other unknowns who for reasons unknown, burned that family alive

you should read the writings of Eric Harris, one of the columbine school shooters.he wasnt depressed. he was delighted in what he was doing .
another great book is "ordinary men" which details how ordinary policemen in germany in 1939 were conscripted and ended up being up to shoot kneeling pregnant jews in the back of the head.

the thing is, that to many people who think well of themselves, these incidents need an explanation and that explanation cant be

another great book is "ordinary men" which details how ordinary policemen in germany in 1939 were conscripted and ended up being up to shoot kneeling pregnant jews in the back of the head.

the thing is, that to many people who think well of themselves, these incidents need an explanation and that explanation cant be
"human beings, just like me, are capable of such things"

so, as members of the public posting in an open forum after reading all the above and more in the news, we are reaching the conclusion the father attempted to murder his entire family in an unthinkably sadistic manner, although in his tiny mind, he most likely believed it would be instant annihilation, all roses and butterflies as he and his family soared straight to heaven

guess the people who've had to find what's left of the bodies and put them in body bags and transport them still smoking to the morgue, might have a less idyllic version of what happens when you burn three kids, an adult male and a vehicle

and the scorch marks from the wife's burning body will remain in the neighbour's lawn for some time

Whos he? Now probably smart money is on the driver, but do we know for 100% certain?
