i don't know why this is still an issue.
Set up an independent committee to check EVERYONE in parliament. Anyone who fails the test, or fails to provide the required documentation is to be immediately banned from parliament, with a halt to their salary, benefits, govt. credit cards, expense accounts and everything else they're entitled to. If after a certain period they still fail to provide the evidence, they pay back any money, be it through salaries or expenses claimed, paid to hem but to which they weren't entitled to in the first place.
If joe public has to pay back money paid to them to which they were later found to not be entitled to (robo debt), then the politicians should be held to the same standards.
Err just remember we are dealing with Scummo the crooks coalition!
Is he in a safe seat?
I think if he is ruled ineligible (like Barnaby), he will have to re contest the seat of Kooyong if he can clear up his citizenship....Surely they now have a vetting process that determines eligibility before someone is selected???
Quote:Kooyong has been held by the Liberal Party of Australia and its predecessors for its entire existence. It is one of two original electorates in Victoria to have never been won by the Australian Labor Party, the other being Gippsland. For decades, it has been one of the safest Coalition seats in metropolitan Australia.
My guess is he could be in trouble if he cannot prove he has renounced his Hungarian citizenship which was reinstated in 1989???
Quote:Mr Staindl's lawyer, Angel Aleksov, said Mr Frydenberg's mother did not renounce her citizenship and even if those rights were temporarily lost during the Communist era, they were restored following the fall of the regime in 1989.
