This bloke can express any opinion he likes as a private citizen.  However at the time he was on duty, wearing an RFS uniform and in an RFS vehicle. The RFS was correct to tell him his services are no longer needed.

This still seems to be suggesting that the firies want to be there fighting fires anywhere especially in their community. My argument would be I doubt give a RFS guy a choice between not fighting fires and fighting fires in their community, they'd prefer to be not fighting fires.

Twisting yourself into a pretzel there. What he clearly said was their sense of duty is such that while there are fires that need their effort, they will work.

You're twisting it to mean he said they're GLAD there are fires.

Morrison said nothing of the sort and you know it.

No, Scotty from marketing was using a throwaway line to cover up any sense of ill-preparedness or any fault on his behalf.

The quote I supplied suggests he didn't. Remember at the times Greens were calling him an arsonist. Is that fair and balanced?

yes sadly in a lefties eyes it would be... Angry

look what they say about Trump.....almost 4 years and not one decent word out of them....

yet hes leading the polls and the left are battling to come up with someone who will outscore him.....ye gods they have only had 3 years.....perhaps had they concentrated on that     instead of trying to GET TRUMP.... they may have had a better group to choose from as it is... The NSW Rural Fire Service firefighter who gave Prime Minister Scott Morrison a piece of his mind during the bushfire crisis has said he was sacked after he unloaded on television.

Appearing on The Project with his wife Tanya on Sunday night, Paul Parker told about the aftermath to his moment that went viral during Australia’s horror bushfire season.

“The message I got was about time you brought the truck back because we were about to send the police to go look for you,” he told The Project.

“And then there were further comments with gestures and arm movements saying that I’m finished. It’s all over.

"Asked about concerns over how long the tens of thousands of volunteer firefighters – many who have been away from work for weeks now – were expected to continue without pay, Morrison said they “want to be there”."

Seems to me the off the cuff remark at the end of that sentence is the problem.

"How about paying the firefighters?"

"They want to be there!"

Easy to misunderstand.... as far as I'm concerned, the firefighter's comments were a flareup in the heat of the moment (sic) and should have been treated as such - only a pedant would make a national case out of it by pursuing it as if it is a crime or something.  The man had his say - leave it at that - check later and see if he's all right - meanwhile he has a fire to fight.

We've all known idiots of managers who do that... make a crime out of a moment under often extreme pressure into a national case .... put simply - such people have no idea of man management in a stressful situation.  In other areas they can end up fragged or shot.

They responded that he wasn't sacked - but following the last comments on TV they had to decide what action to take.  What they need to do is stop being pedantic seat-warmers and STFU about the whole thing... make a simple public statement that his comments were due to extreme stress etc, he had a right to vent them, and let it go...
