The rant was made on the basis of Morrison allegedly saying the fire crews 'enjoy' fighting the fires, when this is what he ACTUALLY said.

The Prime Minister was quoted as telling media in December: "The fact is these crews, yes, they’re tired, but they also want to be out there defending their communities. And so we do all we can to rotate the shifts to give them those breaks … in many cases you’ve got to hold them back to make sure they get that rest."

So we have a rant that was based on fake news, and a story about the ranter being sacked is also fake news.

Great thread, BH.   Grin Grin Grin

This still seems to be suggesting that the firies want to be there fighting fires anywhere especially in their community. My argument would be I doubt give a RFS guy a choice between not fighting fires and fighting fires in their community, they'd prefer to be not fighting fires.

to be fair gordy   the guy was on the Project last night   spouting all that......I feel for the guy he was under enormous pressure at that time

but they cant rehire him he will always be affected by this... no matter what happens....I fear a few more fireis will go as well......as they would have seen some fearful things......and lived them.....

lets be honest this is just the tip of the iceberg....we have collected so much money  I do hope this gentleman gets his share... he did a massive job and shouldnt be defined by this outburst...

Twisting yourself into a pretzel there. What he clearly said was their sense of duty is such that while there are fires that need their effort, they will work.

You're twisting it to mean he said they're GLAD there are fires.

Morrison said nothing of the sort and you know it.

they are given a choice.....they are made up of volunteers.....

who would send one into an inferno when his heart wasnt in it.?..

no one is forced to do that job....in fact its the chosen few who do get to do it.......you must want to do it...or why be there.

Totally agree they would feel as though they can do it. But again would any RFS firie want to be training to fight fires or fighting fires and looking at the destruction that brings.

No, Scotty from marketing was using a throwaway line to cover up any sense of ill-preparedness or any fault on his behalf.

The quote I supplied suggests he didn't. Remember at the times Greens were calling him an arsonist. Is that fair and balanced?
