Poor petal. ACORN-2 is the new update from ACORN-1 adjustments.

In it they adjusted something like 196 209 records for statistical reasons. Exactly how statistics can tell whether records are categorically wrong and can be calculated is not disclosed. You can't make adjustments on old site moves because the microclimate will differ. That may not apply to modern moves because they may have operated two sites siultaneously and can be confident of any adjustments. But all of those should have occurred under the ACORN-1 adjustments.

BTW - Screen changes Stephenson Screens have been made smaller. It has been shown that smaller screens add about 0.6C to the temperatures daily.

Of course not they used mercury thermometers, now they use digital. The new digital ones are supposed to be average over 5 minutes(well it what is used in the States) to try to emulate the mercury ones. Here they are apparently "purpose built" with a lag to emulate mercury ones. However there are no design specs available or even calibration data to see if they meet design specs.
