24 Day Heatwave in 1896 saw 437 people die.

It is false for the BOM and their activist friends to say the current heat wave is a record or unprecedented...

Quote:
And you thought it was hot now? How a 24-DAY heatwave on Australia's east coast in January 1896 saw temperatures climb to 49 degrees and killed 437 people

The extreme weather event was described as feeling 'like a furnace' and recorded much higher temperatures than the east coast is set to swelter through this week.

It was a hot start to 1896 and by January 14, newspapers were reporting people were dying from a range of complications brought on by the extreme temperatures.

By the third week of the year, 12 infants had died from heat-related illnesses in Goulburn, NSW, alone, a report on JoNova about the heatwave revealed.

People were fleeing the cities on trains to seek refuge in the mountainous regions of the country, and one child escaping the heat 'died at the moment the train arrived'.

Hospitals were at breaking point, and the death toll was rising.

The difference between the 1896 one and the current heat wave is that the 1896 one wasn't uniformly hot. It was cooler in SA, VIC and TAS during that heatwave, not nationwide like the current one. That's why even though the 1896 wave was probably hotter in the mid east coast, nationally it was cooler.

2018. , the bureau of meteorology forecast a scorching 49C  in the Pilbara WA – only 2 degrees below the highest temperature ever recorded in Australia, which is 50.7C at South Australia’s Oodnadatta airport in 1960. This reverses the global warming of 2 degrees and radiators are the gift for the season.

Perhaps you have the data. BoM doesn't have it

Adelaide - "THE HEAT WAVE.
TERRIBLE WEATHER IN
TOWN AND COUNTRY.
SHADE TEMPERATURE IN
ADELAIDE 111°.
OTHER HIGH RECORDS.
THE DEATH ROLL.
STILL INCREASING."

January 1896
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/53680112/4095285

Victoria - "THE HEAT WAVE.
Effects in Victoria.
[BY TELEGRAPH.]
MELBOURNE, Friday." Jan 1896

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/44168314?zoomLevel-6

And Feb 1896

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/79763474?zoomLevel=6

It looks like Tasmania may have been spared. Wink

My Country - Poem by Dorothea Mackeller

The love of field and coppice
Of green and shaded lanes,
Of ordered woods and gardens
Is running in your veins.
Strong love of grey-blue distance,
Brown streams and soft, dim skies
I know, but cannot share it,
My love is otherwise.

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror
The wide brown land for me!

The stark white ring-barked forests,
All tragic to the moon,
The sapphire-misted mountains,
The hot gold hush of noon,
Green tangle of the brushes
Where lithe lianas coil,
And orchids deck the tree-tops,
And ferns the warm dark soil.

Core of my heart, my country!
Her pitiless blue sky,
When, sick at heart, around us
We see the cattle die
But then the grey clouds gather,
And we can bless again
The drumming of an army,
The steady soaking rain.

Core of my heart, my country!
Land of the rainbow gold,
For flood and fire and famine
She pays us back threefold.
Over the thirsty paddocks,
Watch, after many days,
The filmy veil of greenness
That thickens as we gaze ...

An opal-hearted country,
A wilful, lavish land
All you who have not loved her,
You will not understand
though Earth holds many splendours,
Wherever I may die,
I know to what brown country
My homing thoughts will fly.

That was before climate change.

It is now -

"Three or more days of high maximum and minimum temperatures that are unusual for that location. "

http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/heatwave/about.shtml

So a heatwave in Sydney is not the same as a heatwave in Marble Bar. Wink

It doesn't have anything to do with their ACORN-2 "data". Wink
