Hey, Lee old mate, are you quoting the same people you claimed have been fudging the figures?

You mean I should lie and pretend they haven't said that? Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

It doesn't have anything to do with their ACORN-2 "data". Wink

Oh I get it, you are faarkin good.

If you say "ACORN-2 "data" then it makes you sound like you know what you are talking about, when you don't.  Brilliant!

But for others who just accept the science that the BOM and CSIRO publishes, they might be phased, you know casuse they don't know what ACORN-2 "data" is.

That sows seeds of doubt into their heads and they might vote differently next time!

See I get it mate, I can do this, put me in contact with 'your people'  Exclaim

Poor petal. ACORN-2 is the new update from ACORN-1 adjustments.

In it they adjusted something like 196 209 records for statistical reasons. Exactly how statistics can tell whether records are categorically wrong and can be calculated is not disclosed. You can't make adjustments on old site moves because the microclimate will differ. That may not apply to modern moves because they may have operated two sites siultaneously and can be confident of any adjustments. But all of those should have occurred under the ACORN-1 adjustments.

"Reason for adjustment Maximum temperature Minimum temperature
Statistical                             209                                   244
Site moves (all)                    176                                   170
Screen change or condition   79                                     77
Site condition (without move)   9                                       5
Observation time change         2                                     24
Total                                     450                                    491
Table 7 ACORN-SAT version 2 adjustments by cause. Totals do not add as some adjustments have multiple causes. "

http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/change/acorn-sat/documents/BRR-032.pdf

BTW - Screen changes Stephenson Screens have been made smaller. It has been shown that smaller screens add about 0.6C to the temperatures daily.

Edit: Once data is adjusted it is no longer data, which is why I called it "data". Wink

It is now -

So a heatwave in Sydney is not the same as a heatwave in Marble Bar. Wink

You should know by now that's all Lee can do! Fudge, cherry pick and dissemble. Problem is he really wants to use science and historic records to prove his case, but the majority of them demonstrate he is talking poop. As stated, I feel sorry for the retard..

President Elect, The Mechanic wrote on Dec 19th, 2019 at 11:13am:
It is false for the BOM and their activist friends to say the current heat wave is a record or unprecedented...

Quote:
And you thought it was hot now? How a 24-DAY heatwave on Australia's east coast in January 1896 saw temperatures climb to 49 degrees and killed 437 people

The extreme weather event was described as feeling 'like a furnace' and recorded much higher temperatures than the east coast is set to swelter through this week.

It was a hot start to 1896 and by January 14, newspapers were reporting people were dying from a range of complications brought on by the extreme temperatures.

By the third week of the year, 12 infants had died from heat-related illnesses in Goulburn, NSW, alone, a report on JoNova about the heatwave revealed.

People were fleeing the cities on trains to seek refuge in the mountainous regions of the country, and one child escaping the heat 'died at the moment the train arrived'.

Hospitals were at breaking point, and the death toll was rising.

No Mechanic as usual, you, the daily mail and Jo Nova are wrong.

Methods of recording temperature were not standardised until the early 1900s. A Stevenson screen was not installed in Bourke until August 1908

The Bureau of Meteorology noted in a 2017 report the 1896 data "cannot be easily compared with modern recordings".

"Detailed study has shown that extreme temperatures recorded at Bourke during the 1896 heatwave were likely suspect due to non-standard exposure, and likely around two degrees warmer than temperatures recorded with standard instrumentation."

And the death toll of 437 people?

There was no airconditioning, poorer medical knowledge about dehydration, and heat stroke, no OHS laws and poorer forecasting.

What type of screen did they have before that. Studies showed similar screens had a difference of about 0.2C. The new smaller Stevenson Screens add about 0.6C. Wink

Of course not they used mercury thermometers, now they use digital. The new digital ones are supposed to be average over 5 minutes(well it what is used in the States) to try to emulate the mercury ones. Here they are apparently "purpose built" with a lag to emulate mercury ones. However there are no design specs available or even calibration data to see if they meet design specs.

You do realize that in 1896 we were just a collection of British colonies.
The British are notorious for not drinking water. They also still dressed the same for their cold British climate.

435 people died in an 1896 heatwave — but scientists say the extreme heat events of today are still hotter

I do know that.

I also know what you are doing.  You have a shill job to hose down any postings cotrary to the riding instructions you have.  You don't have to worry about reputation, just as long as any postings made about climate change or left wing issues are countered with fear and doubt or made fun of.

But I'm still keen to get in on the gig mate.

So I'm ready to sell out just like you.  Sorry for calling you names and shite, a jobs a job mate and I'm ready to go.

PM me please.
