Hobart (the New Boutique State) is the most expensive City in Australia for Rent, with Adelaide coming second. The other Cities and even 'Regional' areas are also very expensive.

Australian Real Estate Industry both Owning and Renting is one of the most expensive in the World.

The poor Convict of old for his/her crimes of stealing a loaf of bread, etc... is now the Corporate Criminal of Banks and Real Estate stealing 'billions' of dollars nationally.

Is this really the International Scene in control (especially when a lot of money has been leaving the major banks and sent overseas like Mega-Scams) of RIPPING OFF Australians?
Or is it really an Australian movement of Real Estate, Banks & others (?) just empowering themselves to compete with overseas nations and their Banks, Real Estate and other Big Industries?

You are quite correct

I worked two nd even 3 jobs to save enough to build a deposit.
We, my wife and I did without in the early years, so that we could meet the mortgage payments.
When interest rates hit 18% we were on the bone of our arses, but the kids were always well fed and clothed, not in brand name, but in New clothes.

When interest rates fall, we continued paying the same amount.
I got better jobs and our house was paid off in record time, on one wage.

Second hand cars
Salvos for furniture, which I repairs to as good as new, sometimes better.
Did all my own services and repairs.
Worked on my own home.

But the whyning new generations want new everything, and don't want to work two jobs.
They don't want to buy second hand cars or repair them themselves, most can't.
They get deep into debt and rely on their parents to get them out.

The artificial pumping up of the property ownership rort has created a situation wherein disaster must follow... and I hope it does soon for the parasites currently feeding off stupid policy and poor management of the nation...

And Rudd wants to bring in 25 million more people - from the Third World, of course... and create a disastrous society and economy with no way out but endemic poverty for the many... obviously it suits his interests.... apart from that, the man is a lunatic.
