Do lies in cartoons work better ?
One of the noticeable features of the impeachment trial is the way that the Trump lawyers just stop talking when they run out of lies.
When all the dust settles, after the final vote is cast, we will see who the US Senate believed, & how badly the US House Representatives did in making their case for "Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors." against the President of the United States of America.
Maybe had you watched the case you would not say such silly things.
The house case has been unbelievably persuasive based on fact where the strongest parts of the Presidents defence has been a series of 30 second sound bites tailored for Fake Fox News but unfortunately absolutely and obviously untrue. The Trump case is all about playing Fake media lies to Trumps base on Fox while hiding evidence and rorting the trial.
Trump does not have one single witness that can support what he has done - not one - nobody can say anything that would show Trump to not be guilty.
Still the Trump legal team are to refute one single piece of evidence against Trump.
We all knew he was guilty when he released the transcript.
What Congress has shown is how Trump's pitch is part of a wider Russian disinformation campaign. They've shown how Russia uses information to simultaneously sabotage the Ukraine and the US, getting Trump elected and then trying to pin it on the Ukraine.
What's clear now is that Trump was hell-bent on proving this fiction himself. To do so, he used his own agents to undermine legitimate military and diplomatic staff. Most importantly, Congress has shown how Trump's actions undermined US interests and long-term strategy of containing Russia. Trump withheld military aid to a country defending itself against Russia. Trump personally bribed that country into announcing fictional investigations aimed at exonerating Russia of its 2016 election interference.
Not only was Trump asking for a personal favour to destroy his political rival, he was attempting to perpetuate propaganda that came straight from the Kremlin.
The Dems' case has brought all the elements together masterfully. If the Senate would allow witnesses, we'd hear from the key players themselves. We've already heard from Trump-loyalists Sondland and Parnas. Bolton would add add evidence from a National Security position - how Trump's "drug deal" went directly against US interests. Giuliani would be another one. Watching Giuliani questioned under oath would be perfect.
Imagine: none of the free-flow diatribe Fox lets him get away with, but substantive questions. Giuliani would be pleading the 5th like there's no tomorrow.
Still, it'll all be in Bolton's book, which will conveniently be released after the election - an election Trump will win and, with the support of the current Republican senators, go on to turn the White House into a bigger swamp than anyone could ever have imagined.
