With less that a year to go until Election Day 2020 (well, one day less than a year), a new poll from the conservative cable channel Fox News shows Hillary Clinton running ahead of President Trump.

One problem: the 2016 loser on the Democratic ticket isn’t even in the race.

The Fox poll, conducted Oct. 27-30, found that Trump is running behind Clinton, 43% to 41% in a hypothetical race. The Republican incumbent also lags behind all the other top Democrats, trailing former Vice President Joe Biden 51-39, Sen. Elizabeth Warren 46-41 and Sen. Bernie Sanders 49-41, the poll found.


Clinton has been coy about declaring once and for all that she is not running in 2020. But Biden has faltered and fallen as Warren and Sanders have risen, opening the door to a late entrance. Were she to jump into the race — even at this late date — she would likely pull in $100 million within days and be competitive. Plus, having run in 2016, she could likely build a national campaign in short order.

Another new poll also had bad news for Trump.

A poll conducted by the New York Times and Sienna College, released Monday, shows Biden beating Trump in six battleground states that the president won in 2016. Biden has a five-point lead on Trump in Arizona, is up three points in Pennsylvania, and leads by two in Wisconsin and Florida. The pair are dead even in Michigan, which Trump surprisingly won in 2016, and leads in North Carolina by 2 points.

Trump versus the other two top-tier candidates show the president in better shape. While Sanders led Trump by 3 points in Michigan, he trailed by 1 to 4 points in Pennsylvania, Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina. The two were even in Wisconsin. Meanwhile, Warren trailed Trump by 2 to 4 points in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida, and North Carolina and were even in Arizona.

In another poll, this one by Harvard Harris, Clinton and Biden are tied for the Democratic presidential nomination — if the former Secretary of State runs. In the poll, Clinton would get 18% of the vote if she enters and Biden would get 19%. Without her in the race, Biden draws 33% of support from registered Democrats.

Hillary never really went away and has been dropping hints that she may still run. “It truly is remarkable how obsessed he remains with me,” she said last month on the PBS “News Hour.” “But this latest tweet is so typical of him. Nothing has been more examined and looked at than my emails. We all know that. So he’s either lying or delusional or both.”

Then she said, “Maybe there does need to be a rematch.”

“Obviously, I can beat him again. But, just seriously, I don’t understand, I don’t think anybody understands what motivates him other than personal grievance, other than seeking adulation.”

Former White House aide Steve Bannon has predicted she will make a third attempt for the presidency in 2020. “Hillary Clinton is doing a whole thing,” he said on Fox Business. “She is running. She’s just throwing to decide how to fit her way in.”

Dick Morris, a former longtime adviser to Bill Clinton, also now says Clinton is likely running. “There’s a test you can do at home,” Morris said last month on “The Cats Roundtable” on New York AM 970 radio. “Just put your fingers on her wrist, and if you feel a pulse, you know she’s going to run.”

Flashback: For the record, FOX News had Hillary Clinton winning by 4 points on Election Day in 2016.

Hillary Clinton urges Democrats to pick a candidate who can win the Electoral College

Hillary Clinton on Monday urged Democrats to choose a nominee who can win the Electoral College in 2020.

"We have to hope that whoever ends up nominated can win the Electoral College," she said at a discussion of her book, "The Book of Gutsy Women," in Denver.

"I think several of our candidates could win the popular vote but as I know ... that's not enough," added the 2016 Democratic nominee.

"I don't think we have a choice; we have to win" in 2020, she said, speaking alongside her daughter and co-author Chelsea Clinton at a sold-out event.
She urged a supportive crowd of almost 2,000 people to "work hard for your preference in the primary" but "close ranks behind whoever is nominated."

"Do not let anyone you know vote third party," she said.

Without ever using President Trump's name, Clinton warned that this administration will leave damage that "is going to take some work to repair."

"What we've got is government not by principal but by tweet and it's undermining who we are," she said.

She cited Trump's interaction with Ukraine and decision to drawdown troops in Syria, saying he lacked a plan to not "abandon the Kurds."

"We're supposed to be striving to be a more perfect union," Clinton said.

"We had, I think, a very important quality that is now being undermined and is being destroyed by the current administration," she continued. "The current president has an affinity for dictators."

The former secretary of State warned that there will be human and financial consequences after Trump's administration in the areas of public health, climate change and global reputation.

Election Day 2020 is officially less than a year away (by just a couple days, but still).

Things are changing fast (or not, the election’s nearly a year away).

But usually by this time, there’s at least a real front-runner from the party that’s not in the White House. Today, not so much.

Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, once the inevitable nominee, is running one of the worst campaigns in the history of campaigning. He’s been overtaken by Sen. Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren in a slew of prominent polls, including those in Iowa and New Hampshire, the first two states to cast ballots in the primary season. Sen. Bernard Sanders, despite a heart attack and the fact he’ll be 103 when he moves into the White House if elected, is not far behind.

Then there’s the elephant in the room, the one in the muumuu.

A new poll released Monday by the conservative cable channel Fox News shows 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton running ahead of President Trump.

Really.

Conducted Oct. 27-30, the survey found Mrs. Clinton up 43% to 41% in a hypothetical race against Mr. Trump, who also runs behind Mr. Biden by 51-39, Ms. Warren 46-41 and Mr. Sanders 49-41.

The two-time loser has most definitely been keeping the door open for a 2020 race. With Mr. Biden plunging and Ms. Warren and Mr. Sanders having hit a ceiling, a late Clinton entrance is all the more conceivable. Were she to jump into the race — even at this late date — Mrs. Clinton would likely pull in $100 million within weeks and quickly be competitive. Plus, having run in 2016, she could likely build a national campaign in short order (she doesn’t have the same name-recognition problem as that mayor from South Bend, Indiana what’s his name).
