When did you decide to leave Oz for the trash piles of south east asia or the mud huts of Africa?

but it's true that overpopulation will erode Western lifestyles, including yours, unless you're fortunate to die beforehand and leave the coming mess to your descendants

the planet is the equivalent of a paddock into which the greedy farmer squeezes more.  People in Oz, which has an enviable lifestyle compared to most, are beginning to feel the squeeze

do you see India or Africa et al coming up with a solution for your descendants?  If so, let us know

No I don't have the answers, but I'm also sure that compulsory sterilization isn't one of them. It's also enlightening that the members who promote this policy are among the most bigoted on this forum so I question their motivations.

What's your solution?

Improving education. especially of women.
Once a population gets educated, the birth rate drops.

Ok.  Off you go and educate the women in the 3rd world

then get started on the men in the 3rd world

and let us know how you fare with the leaders of the 3rd world who might have objections to your presuming to interfere

meanwhile, babies are landing at a rate of who knows how many per minute, worldwide

frankly, I think you're too late with your education solution

Australia should stop all immigration for a while until we set the level of population we can sustain.
Our own birth rate is low so we could even lose some population from present levels.
Australia should be setting the example for the rest of the world.
Never mind the usual cultural cringers and self loathing virtue signallers, Australia can be the world leader.

Japan's already setting that agenda, Mike. An ageing population, no growth, declining wages.

Everybody keeps telling them, if they don't breed, they'll need to bring some in.

But do they listen? No.

Wacism, innit.

They are over a 100,000,000 people on a group of islands which is mostly mountains. They are already 50,000,000+ people over populated.

This will sound cruel but it's needed:

People all over the world should need a license to breed.
There should be compulsory abortions and a large fine for woman who get pregnant without a license.
People with undesirable traits should not got a license.
People who don't have any way of properly supporting their children should not get a license.

Undesirable traits could be:
low IQ - no more halfwits breeding more halfwits.
obesity,
short & fat,
congenital abnormalities,
medical conditions based on hereditary such as
diabetes or a family history of insanity.
Any other trait considered to be unwanted.

Heil Bobbi.

Those are exactly the policies published in "Mein Kampf".

Hitler didn't invent those polices -
he was copying the Yanks before WW2.

Nice if …..

a case of woulda, shoulda, coulda, I'm afraid

We're getting no say in population and immigration.  There's an agenda and we are voiceless, despite the belief of some that Australian politicians 'listen to the people'.  Sometimes they do, most times they don't. And when it comes to population/immigration, we're ignored apart from lip service and lies around election time

as far as Australia setting an example re population growth to the rest of the world --- sure, in a fairy-story

they're coming to Oz so stand aside

and when they've been in Oz for around three generations, they might get around to limiting their offspring, mostly because by then they'll have realised that less kids means more material wealth and 'better life'

meanwhile, they're popping them out like rabbits worldwide.  The woman in Uganda is an extreme example, sure, but why didn't that couple stop when they reached say, a dozen?  Couldn't be bothered going to town to access birth control -- but she manages to find dye for her hair?  Didn't want to endure the 'unnatural' sterilisation?  Enjoyed the notoriety?  Got more money for having more and more kids?  I do not believe that woman and her spouse were not advised by any of the do-good organisations, nor do I believe non of her neighbours told the do-good orgs about her ever increasing family.  She managed to get four houses to accomodate her offspring and almost certainly those four houses were not bought or built by her or her spouse

look at her kids.  They're wretched. And 'charities' beseech us to feed them?

How about our 'authorities' and 'charitable orgs' bring her and her giant ovaries to Australia for a better life?  And what if her daughters inherited her 'giant ovaries'?  Let's fill up Australia, boys.  It's a massive piece of land with room for billions seems to be the belief of those making the decisions while living in 50 million dollar homes on Sydney Harbour

we have to sterilise or genocide.  If not now, then in the not so distant future.  Or we'll all --- worldwide -- be fighting in the streets for water and food.  And that scenario is well on the way judging by the number of SWORD attacks and deaths in of all places ... Australia

A Uganda mom pumps out 38 children!

Mariam Nabatanzi takes a family portrait with some of her children at their home in Kasawo village, March 8. Mariam Nabatanzi gave birth to twins a year after she was married off at the age of 12. Five more sets of twins followed - along with four sets of triplets and five sets of quadruplets. Three years ago, however, the 39-year-old Ugandan was abandoned by her husband, leaving her to support their surviving 38 children alone. REUTERS/James Akena

And is that the sort of population policy we want in Australia?

It's sobering to learn that those with a good quality of life make up only 8% of the world's population

To qualify in that 8%, a person must have access to water, food, education, medicine

The percentage must shrink when you add easily accessed transportation, unlimited consumer goods, sophisticated surgery, unhindered travel and all that we enjoy in this country and UK, US, much of Europe

interestingly, it is those in the top 8% and higher echelons who are concerned about overpopulation

and it is those in that top handfull of privilege who have restricted their own breeding to around 2 children.  In other words, those who enjoy the best lifestyles and opportunities are diminishing their own numbers

the remaining 92% continue to increase their populations, often to massive and unsustainable degree

The governments of the top 8% are importing people from the 92%

sounds like crap to me.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/china-watch/society/decreasing-chinas-poverty/
The poverty rate, proportion of people living below the Chinese poverty line, had fallen among rural population from 97.5 percent in 1978 to 3.1 percent at the end of 2017

The author must of forgot about china...….

https://blog.giveindia.org/stories-of-hope/5-facts-about-poverty-in-india-that-w...

Forgot about India too it seams...….

just the USA is 5% of the population at 350 million, japan is 100 million , would be 100 million in northern Europe, where is link for this,
ive seen 80% being in poverty worldwide. SO yes you pointed out a problem what is your answer to fix it ?
Or is don't bring in Refugee's your answer ?

https://ophi.org.uk/multidimensional-poverty-index/global-mpi-2018/

The United Nations development Programme (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) developed a new version of the global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI). The global MPI covers 105 countries in total, which are home to 77 per cent of the world’s population, or 5.7 billion people. Of this proportion, 23 per cent of people (1.3 billion) are identified as multidimensionally poor.

There are many measures to reduce the population within the law.

lets see here are some,

Cigarettes

Why doesn't the government legislate so tabaco companies have to take out all the chemicals that aren't in natural tabaco, shelf life comes to mind.

Medicine, Pills & Co

After 70 years of age its up to the person whether they want the medication....its law....after 70 you're pretty much on the scrap heap, if you decide no more pills then happy birthday to you.

After 80 if you get hospitalized you're pretty much f@rked....lucky to get out alive, would have to be a strong old fella or gal...they asses and administer whether the patient can take it is another matter.

I should add that if you're lucky to be in the 1% or associated with them or just filthy rich this doesn't apply to you.

United Nations

Preaching to the world that homosexuality and transgenderism is natural for humans and is part of nature

Turn as much of the population as possible into gays, no babies born by these people

Nothing can be further from the truth, being homosexual is going against nature.

well your view of nature anyway, there are documented cases of same sex happening with every species of Mammals and quit a few birds..... so it's not natural even if it happens in nature.

Well yes all these Fast foods and farming practices seam to be killing lots of people, is depopulating already happening.
Should we be anti Vax just on the point that without them more people will die. Should we be against homosexual encouragement.
Should we encourage agriculture using antibiotics so much they are developing germs that are immune. Wink
