Wave machine
Jan 22nd, 2019 at 6:12pm

So many days of crap surf.

I'm thinking of some kind of a water tower that could be built maybe 1km off the beach. Powered by solar, wind and tides, it could pump water into the tower and when full released in one go sending a nice reliable wave to shore.

A bit of artificial reef to shape the wave may be necessary.

Attention Elon Musk!!

Slaters wave pool is the best. Puurrfekt waves that can be sized to suit the riders.

No need for the ocean anymore.

I like watching waves roll overhead.
Diving underwater to watch in 40m viz, a wave come towards and then over me, as the water curves tube and rolls away.

It's even better when I watch Dolphins swim along it, over it and all around it, towards shore.

Wave generators have been tried without any great success so far.

There is one near Perth in WA I believe.

...

Here is the story.  https://www.power-technology.com/projects/perth-wave-energy-project/

There is another one planned near Portugal:-  https://www.power-technology.com/projects/pelamis/

Gordon was referring to a wave making machine, but waves sure do have potential to produce a lot of clean energy if only they could nail down the right technology.

I'm thinking of a totally different scale.

A 100000+ tank on a huge platform that fills up with solar and wind power.
Whenever it's full all the water would woosh out and some kind of device would focus the energy to the break.

I reckon every 20 mins or so. Some artificial reefs could be designed to shape the wave.

I don't care about the cost because I want Elon Musk to build it.

Attention Elon Musk. BUILD ME A WAVE MACHINE.

Well Elon can build me a swimming pool that goes down to 300m without the Colossus Squid at the bottom waiting.

(btw: defunct wave generator at Port Kembla)

Most definately. It's a fear that has been handed down through countless generations in at least one of the generation. It was told to me that the fear came from a great ancestor that was a Captain of a ship that got attacked by a Kraken/Giant Squid in the far north Sea off Norway and lost many crew members. They say its a 'curse' that was bestowed upon the Captain by the Kraken for not having offered himself first as the Captain of the ship - to appease the Kraken.

So here I am. Scuba Diver and the mere sight of that Colossus Squid Photo gives me the heeby-jeebies.

Ironically no. I love eating calimari. Not the most exciting taste of food. But good with chips n' fish.

I saw someone riding one of those winged SUPs into the bar last time I went out fishing. Looks like fun. Those things are opening up a lot more options for surfing.

I see the pattern Wink

You are not complaining about this because the average punter can't have one in their backyard Wink
