Slimy GetUp! chased back down into its burrow
Nov 20th, 2018 at 4:02pm

The union controlled Labor Party depends on the gumshoes GetUp! for its dirty tricks like the mediScare FRAUD.

Now there is a new more talented highly active Good Guys group to crush the feeble GetUp!.

You can see how the Good Guys are blocking Labor at every turn.

GetUp faces conservative challenger Advance Australia

An alliance of well-known Australians has launched a centre-right political machine in a bid to rival union-backed activist group GetUp and vowed to campaign as a registered third-party organisation against the Left ahead of next year’s election.

The group, Advance Australia, will run its first major campaign against Labor’s plan to scrap imputation dividend refunds, the so-called retiree tax, as well as a grassroots movement to keep Australia Day unchanged.

Advance Australia has also flagged a direct counter campaign to GetUp-led attacks on sitting conservative Liberal MPs, and may target federal seats to support candidates who campaign on mainstream issues.

An advisory body for the not-for-profit organisation, which proposes to register with the Australian Electoral Commission as an independent third party under pending rule changes in the electoral act, includes: former ABC chairman, banking executive and Macquarie University chancellor Maurice Newman; Sydney doctor David Adler, who is president of the Australian Jewish Association; and storage king Sam Kennard.

Free-speech advocate Kerry Wakefield, whose husband is former Coalition minister Nick Minchin, will also be on the advisory board, with the organisation to be chaired by Queensland businessman James Power, whose uncle Bernie Power founded Power Brewing, which was bought by Fosters Group in 1993.

Mr Newman, who also served as Australian Stock Exchange chairman, said the time had come to challenge groups such as GetUp, with left-wing activism dominating the national debate.

“We are in the position of the battle of Stalingrad … we have retreated to such an extent we need to hold our ground somewhere and start to push back,” Mr Newman told The Australian. “We have to put our hand up and say we believe in this country. People like GetUp are so well funded.

“Look at seats like Warringah, Canning, Dickson … these electorates are under constant attack by GetUp. They are very well-funded and we have to get well-funded. We are hopeful we can. We can’t leave the world to George Soros.”

...

A nationwide poll of 2000 voters, commissioned by Advance Australia in September to guide its charter, found that only 16 per cent of people believed society was better than it was a decade ago, while more than 80 per cent were concerned about the rise of political correctness.

Dr Adler, a former deputy medical director at the Australian Medical Association, told The Australian that mainstream and traditional values had largely been left out of the national discourse. Dr Adler, who lives in the electorate of Wentworth, said that in the recent by-election there was only one side of the argument displayed in any great volume at polling booths, and most focused on climate change.

“Clearly the material came from GetUp,” Dr Adler said.

He said the new organisation stood for freedoms, including freedom of speech and freedom of religion, individual initiative and safety and security. “It is important to have an organisation standing up for these values and I’m pleased to lend my support,” Dr Adler said.

He said Advance Australia would not be aligned to a political party. The group’s national director, Gerard Benedet, who previously worked as chief of staff to former Queensland Liberal National Party treasurer Tim Nicholls and also worked for News Corp, publisher of The Australian, said a mainstream political movement to counter GetUp had been a “long time coming”.

“It’s also been borne out of frustration with the major parties,” Mr Benedet said. “We don’t get caught up in the politics of activism, we are about raising awareness. GetUp is 13 years old; we are three months in the making … we want to have an impact and we think we will have an impact this time around (at the election).

“We will support people of all political persuasions who back mainstream values and freedoms and stand for the institutions that have served this country well.”

The rest of the demise of the slimy GetUo! continues overleaf

The rest of the demise of the slimy GetUo! continues...

Mr Benedet said the organisation would consider seat-by-seat campaigns.

However, he said there was no one involved in the organisation who was a member of a political party.

Mr Benedet resigned his LNP membership when he left Mr Nicholls’s office. He said had the group been established earlier, it would have campaigned against the Coalition’s changes to superannuation.

GetUp, which has had significant funding from construction union CFMEU, is fighting attempts by Coalition senator Eric Abetz to have its independent status revoked and force its registration as an affiliated entity of Labor. It has been forced to amend its constitution and remove references to charitable status. In 2007, it was taken to task by the AEC for printing misleading how-to-vote cards recommending voting against Coalition candidates.

Mr Benedet said Advance Australia would be based on a similar structural arrangement as GetUp but would not be a charitable organisation. The name was chosen after focus group testing found Advance Australia popular.

He said more than 1000 members signed up to the organisation in six days after the launch of its campaign website.

And of course what the Lefties lust for - COMMENTS - so unlike theirs

At last!

Pat 24 MINUTES AGO
These people should be within the Coalition. I like their style but the last thing we need is another political party.

Jeffery 29 MINUTES AGO
Forget the name Advance Australia.  How about Get Real (political solutions for real people who live in the real world)for a name that will resonate across the spectrum of voters that may well work.  If the Group is in fact centre right, then Advance Australia suggests a movement that is a little to the right of that.
Advance Australia will need an army of young volunteers - Get Real could get them involved.

William 37 MINUTES AGO
This is good news.   I was hoping to set up something similar myself but missed out on the big lotto prize.

If they concentrate on what concerns the masses, they can be real agents of change.   They are starting with Labors dividend grab, not a bad start.  I suggest they also look at....

Bill Shorten secretly selling workers out for $30,000 when he was a union official, and not declaring the money until the day before he fronts the Royal Commission.   Compare his behaviour to Peter Slipper's and Craig Thompson's, and how they were punished and Shorten was not.

The crazy prices for electricity and gas in SA and Vic, and how it is related to the rise in solar and wind power.   What is the total cost to the nation in increased power bills, subsidies and foregone business?

The crazy pc ridden, left wing boot camp that is our university system.  Have academics and students talk of their experiences and demand a Royal Commision.

The high levels of immigration that concerns so many Australians.

The board seem "eminent", I just hope they have the people who will really take the fight to the left, no holds barred.   I would ask them to recruit some less eminent, but experienced people who have worked at the coal face.

Good luck, we need you.

Andrew 1 HOUR AGO
Great idea. Hopefully we can all dress up in super-brightly coloured t-shirts and hang around acting self-righteous.

Stuart 1 HOUR AGO
Great idea but I see nothing with regard to climate at all on their web site,. This is a shame as the position that they take is a possible deal-breaker for me, notwithstanding my support on some of the other issues.

Woddles 1 HOUR AGO
GetUp has lots about climate change on theirs. Or are you after something that will back up your position. I'm guessing the latter.

David 1 HOUR AGO
Seems fair that if one team has a cheer squad, the other team should have one too. Ra ra ra!

jeff 2 HOURS AGO
About time. Conservatives need to stop being viewed as those that clean up after labor and the greens. Let’s see positive vision and policy discussion and not knee jerking to the left propoganda machine . Lead with ideas not react to drama and people assassination .

Gail 2 HOURS AGO
Very welcoming of a political group with a different political perspective that will compete against GetUp. Based on what Maurice says here (and what he's said before) this is not going to be it.

Rick 3 HOURS AGO
Yes, that is what the right really needs, more strident, uncompromising, sectarians and anti-science nutters and mining sock puppets.  That will help win over the sensible centre.
It used to be the joke that if you had 3 socialists in a room you would have 4 political parties.  Now, as well, if we have 3 hard-rightists in the room you will have 4 thinktanks/influence organizations.
But this is really just about extracting funding from concerned pensioners isn't it? The funding for the Libs collapsed under Mr Abbott,  as small then medium business realized their agenda was nothing to do with the needs of anything other than giant business (banks, mining companies) and pandering to crypto-alt-rightist who only join the party in order to threaten to leave. Now that Mr Turnbull has gone, the few remaining moderates know they are not welcome.

Your paranoid fear of Get up is noted and well founded. They are right at least 9 times out of 10.

Still going on about mediscare 6 years after it has once again been proven well founded - it was never mediscare just medi fact. The Libs have attacked the medical system at every opportunity and a few other times as well..

Gosh it is working already as Essential poll already has Libs advancing on paralyzed Labor.

...
ScoMo the Shorty killer!!!!!

Labor remains ahead of the Morrison government, although the national contest has narrowed appreciably during the past fortnight, and a large number of voters say they would consider voting for an independent at the next federal election.

The latest Guardian Essential poll has Labor ahead of the Coalition on the two-party-preferred measure 52% to 48%, compared with 54% to 46% a fortnight ago. The Coalition’s primary vote is on 37% and Labor is on 35%, which is a four-point drop from the last survey.

And now the sinister dumbing down of Australia by the FABIAN Socialists by indoctrinating little kiddies with Greeny trash is occurring.

How political correctness is changing education, according to Abbott, Jones and Donnelly
Pallavi Singhal  3 hrs ago

...
a man wearing a suit and tie: Kevin Donnelly, former prime minister Tony Abbott and radio broadcaster Alan Jones on Tuesday

There is something sinister going on in Australian classrooms.

That was the consensus of a former prime minister, a former curriculum reviewer and a radio broadcaster.

The "cultural left" is using the notion of political correctness to control how students think about everything from post-colonial theory to maths and science, Kevin Donnelly, a senior research fellow at the Australian Catholic University said at the launch of his new book, How Political Correctness is Destroying Education and Your Child’s Future.

Political correctness is also visible in the Acknowledgement of Country, which is commonly used to pay respect to the traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owners of the land, but which should be accompanied by a prayer, Indigenous affairs envoy and former prime minister Tony Abbott said.

"Yesterday I went to the opening of the new Northern Beaches Hospital and there was a formal welcome to country, fair enough, every single speaker, and there were about six of them, acknowledged country, fair enough, but there was not a single prayer ... even though our society is absolutely unimaginable without the influence of Christianity," Mr Abbott said.

There is also a lack of religious and cultural teachings in schools, Mr Abbott said at the launch of the book, which is a follow-up to Dr Donnelly's earlier book, How Political Correctness Is Destroying Australia — Enemies Within and Without, released in June this year.

"It's not enough simply to be able to read, write, count and think, there needs to be an essential cultural literacy that everyone coming through an Australian education should have," Mr Abbott said.

"That means a familiarity with the gospel stories, especially the parables which have done so much to shape our culture. And this is not a question of trying to ram religious faith down people's throats, it's a matter of giving people the knowledge essential to understand the culture in which they live.

"I am all in favour of Asian, environmental and Indigenous perspectives, but are these really the three top priorities which should permeate every aspect of our curriculum? I doubt it very much indeed."

Like his previous book, Dr Donnelly's new book argues for the need to preserve Western culture.

"What is known as the new sociology of education basically argues that ... mathematics, physics, science, they're all social constructs, they have no inherent meaning or value," said Dr Donnelly, who was a co-chair of the 2014 Australian Curriculum review.

"[And] if they're constructs they can be reshaped, deconstructed, remodelled in terms of the cultural left's ideology, so you now have Aboriginal science being put into the national curriculum, which I find astounding."

Dr Donnelly is referring to recommendations for teachers from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority on how to incorporate Aboriginal culture and history when covering existing science topics in a bid to increase the accessibility of the subject and close the gap.

What we need, Dr Donnelly said, is a return to 1950s Australia, where things were less complicated and children were happier.

"Some people talk about political correctness as being polite and as being civil and that for many years we discriminated unfairly," Dr Donnelly said.

"Now all of that is true... [but] we used to run around as kids, happy as Larry, free-range, no helicopter parents, doing all kinds of dodgy stuff.

"No one had heard of multiculturalism or diversity and difference, no one had heard of identity politics or microagression. We were kids growing up in Australia in the 1950s or 60s, where we were all equal, we were all proud of who we were, and how times have changed."

Mr Abbott also had some advice for state and territory education authorities on how to arrest Australia's fall in international rankings such as PISA and TIMMS, including raising entry requirements for teaching degrees and increasing pay.

"[We need to focus] on better acknowledging and rewarding the very best teachers, and the best teachers of senior subjects, even at a state school, should be paid at least as much as a backbench member of parliament."
