So after many pages of how prices are increasing; you don't want anyone trying to reduce them?

How bizarre is that?

Like anyone believes libtards are going to reduce them

So tell us how Labor will reduce power prices.

That isn't a valid defense, explanation or justification for how the Liberal Party will do it.

They have a long and sordid history inflating a problem, claiming they're the only ones to can fix it, implementing a solution that addresses some other ideological cause they have but doesn't address the issue, then deflate the rhetoric around the issue to it appears they've had a positive impact.

It will be a little harder this time around given that this is an issue everyone can see the outcome for themselves, but it's exactly what they did with the abolition of the carbon tax.

Power bills didn't get cheaper, but they stopped talking about it, until now after enough community outage.  They got to implement their ideological cause and they just moved on, job done.

Duped their constituency again.

I'm sorry. I didn't know I was supposed to mount a defence, explanation or justification. Grin Grin Grin Grin

As I said elsewhere - federal politicians have no say in power prices. Live with it.

Other than setting things like renewable targets and changes in generation and the rules around privatisation.

At least if we were moving to having more renewables in the mix there would be something to gain out of these price increases.

So you are in favour of cost increases? Are you also in favour in less despatchable energy?

Or are you one of those who think we don't need baseload power? Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Abolish the "carbon tax".

It didn't work.

What didn't it do? What was the law designed to do? What was its repeal designed to do?

Or did you mean the "carbon tax" didn't work?  Did it tax "carbon"? Did it tax carbon dioxide? Two very different things. Wink

It didn't do what Abbott said it would.

Abbott LIED.

I don't believe a new coal fired power plant will ever be built in Australia Lee....It is too expensive, it would take a decade to build and commission, the private sector has shown little interest without public subsidies and guarantees for long term contracts as the plant must operate for 50 years to be viable....The Government would never get the support in Parliament for any particular form of energy as the policy is agnostic....Those advocating for new coal power are ignoring reality!!!

I'm very familiar with the situation, that's why I said more renewables in the mix, not as a replacement to coal.

I realise the only real way you can "debate" on here is to belittle and attack those who don't think 100% like you but at least try harder.

Maybe don't include within the text that you quote information that already negates your point?

The liberal way is either a) get taxpayers to build it and then sell it cheap to their mates, or b) actually do what they claim and let the market deal with it.

Where did I reference coal?

Maybe you can show that increasing renewables will lead to a decrease in prices? Most of the subsidies are to renewables.

I thought they were now cheaper than fossil fuelled sources of power. Why the need for these subsidies?

Having to run fossil fuelled plant as back up to renewables isn't cost effective and can never be cost effective.
