I think I would get aircon anxiety with electric cars.

What will heating and cooling do to the range?

Tesla actually have a temperature control in their main page , you can change the outside temperature and have either a heater or air con going and how it affects the range.

https://www.tesla.com/en_AU/models
fun to play with.

Air cons effect range of ice cars too, the smaller the vehicle the worse it seams.

But you wont buy an EV, will you? Zealots never do.

there there weeken it will be ok.....
140000 zealots bought ev's last month.

out of 4 million cars last month.  Your point? Particularly since none of them are YOUR purchase.

Ohh that’s 3.5% of all cars for the year
No I haven’t. How about something else besides I don’t own one, it’s boring.
If u haven’t noticed this tread is about the electric vehical I want to get.

No, it's not. Because you wont get it... ever. Zealots like you never do.

It looks like the Hyundai Kona is coming to Australia soon, as soon as end of the year but id say year after that its the first electric car is could afford with enough range to get here. A Model X is around $200000 here
The new Nissan is supposed to be here as well but until the 500k range comes in I wouldn't be interested.
I live about 200kms from work and even though a 250km vehicle would do the job knowing one could take me to work and back home again would be better.
The ice version of the kona tows 1500kg and I'm hoping for at least 1000kg so I can tow my old caravan around.
I live in Queensland and the government are making a charging station path for free along the coast, so if all goes well next year it will be done and I can camp up and down for free.
Well free isn't really the word the base 4wd ice is $30000 and the electric is said to be $50000
I was also thinking that with its 7kva onboard charger I can go from Caravan park to caravan park and recharge the kona at night.
At the moment my van is solar and I free camp but I pay for fuel, a hot shower at night and Aircon during summer for the same price a day is interesting.

I dont get your thinking here. In the electric scenario it is considerably more expensive to buy and if you think you can recharge from a caravan park then you are in for a surprise at how long that will take. Towing a caravan will halve your range or worse.

Well can charge up to 7 KWh , even 5 Kwh would be 12 hours from completely empty.
When we travel usually do about 3 to 4 hours driving and at the caravan park about 17 hours.

https://www.motoring.com.au/tesla-model-x-2017-tow-test-106452/

Tesla x can tow, says 30% loss with 2 Tonne, my van is 900kg so I’d say about the same so would make 350 km range for the kona, that’s all we ever drive a day.
Towing with a ice kona is about 10/100 so that’s $49 fuel at $1.40 a liter , that’s my thinking.

can you get a 30A connection from a caravan camp? I am sure you can do these trips you want, but what if you want to go further or go to an unpowered site?  YOU CANT and that is my point.

I  CAN just more planning.
well might not get 30 amp but 15-20 amp wouldn't be a problem, so 12=15 hours to charge.
umm even now u do realize there r chargers around Australia, is more cars get sold there will be more chargers and I'm happy to plan holidays to the chargers ,  Pioneering is all the fun. Wink

Damm Kona released in Norway , Hyundai thought 2000 pre orders , its 20000 orders, Bloody Norwegians will be ages until it comes here now.
According to the press release, Hyundai Motor Norway needed to close the ordering list, as overwhelming demand translated into more than 20,000 interested customers.
The bad news is that there will be just around 2,500 Kona Electric sold in Norway this year, as the automaker needs to balance its limited production capacity between several initial markets. Angry Angry

Until EVs can produce performance equal to PVs, and charging stations for EVs can be at a similar regularity, and price as Servos, EVs will never be conducive with conditions in Australia. Roll Eyes

have u never seen the performance of a Tesla ?
yeah for long trips.
most ev owners charge at home and never goto a public fuel station again, one of the benifits  Wink Wink
with even SA electricity max price it costs about $5 to charge a eV for 100km's , ohh go crazy make it $6
ev's  at night usually charge on the cheep rate, same as a water heater so a lot less
biggest problem is only luxury EV's in aus and any of the cheaper ones r still expensive compared to a equal ICE. Wink Wink
