Bobby's joint....where if I post any criticism of the snake oil salesman, he will delete it....and he will delete any criticism of DuByne there.  This is why.  He wants to present this place as one of support for the charlatan!

Sure, Bobby...let's see the SOS man refer to THIS Thread.

What are Arctic temperatures recovering FROM, Booby?

You posted another compilation of lies and bullshit and included the “Arctic recovery” crap again. Bit more detail this time—obviously my Twitter posts have stung and he needs to keep his dupes, like you, duped and not thinking for themselves.

—so, recovery from WHAT, Booby?

Oh dear. All this "Arctic is dying" crap. Did you know the sea ice extent, for which you posted that lovely graph dated 31March, shows a decline of 7.24% from the 1981-2010 median?  Quelle Horreur. Wink

Booby obviously realises Dubyne had lied about the Arctic not warming last NH winter. Maybe he will realise other lies are being told to him. I live in hope.

OK, end to that matter.

The Gulf stream is slowing, well before it was predicted it would.

Quote:
New research provides strong evidence that one of the long-predicted worst-case impacts of climate change — a severe slow-down of the Gulf Stream system — has already started.

Is this going to create an ice age in England, Western Europe and NE America like the Little Ice Age did? Doubt it.

Quote:
. . . .The impacts of such a slowdown include much faster sea level rise — and much warmer sea surface temperatures — for much of the U.S. East Coast. Both of those effects are already being observed and together they make devastating storm surges of the kind we saw with Superstorm Sandy far more likely.

And the chain of three North Easters earlier this year. AGW warms the seas and the seas feed storms with moisture and energy. The air now can hold 8% more moisture than it could in the 1800s. No wonder we see huge precipitation events as rain or snow. You cannot get precipitation without prior evaporation from the oceans—even Booby would agree to that, I think tho The Moronic probably wouldn’t  Wink

Quote:
. . . .The findings come in two new studies published this week. One study published in the journal Nature, titled “Observed fingerprint of a weakening Atlantic Ocean overturning circulation,” was led by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. It finds that the AMOC has weakened “around 15 per cent” since the mid-twentieth century, bringing it to “a new record low.”

Another new study in the same issue of Nature “supports this finding and places it in a longer climate history context,” as Potsdam’s Stefan Rahmstorf notes at RealClimate.

First Nature study: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-018-0006-5.epdf

Second Nature study: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-018-0007-4.epdf

Confused about what this means? Here is a YouTube from the Potsdam Institute to explain:

Quote:
The impacts are serious. A slow-down in deepwater ocean circulation “would accelerate sea level rise off the northeastern United States, while a full collapse could result in as much as approximately 1.6 feet of regional sea level rise,” as the authors of the U.S. National Climate Assessment (NCA) explained in November.

This extra rise in East Coast sea levels would be on top of whatever multi-foot sea level rise the entire world sees. An AMOC slowdown would reduce regional warming a bit, especially in Europe, but “would also lead to a reduction of ocean carbon
dioxide uptake, and thus an acceleration of global-scale warming.”

So Booby, “expert” on feedback cycles got the consequence of the slowing of the Gulf Stream (aka Atlantic Overturning Meridional Current) totally wrong. Guess he knows stuff all about cycles, feedback and science, just as I always thought. You need to be near braindead to believe the ice age nonsense.

Quote:
And the slowdown also means a rise in water temperatures off the U.S. mid-Atlantic and Northeast coasts, which has already begun (see map).

...

Quote:
As Dr. Jennifer Francis of Rutgers University’s Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences  explained back in 2013:

Quote:
“Abnormally high sea-surface temperatures all along the eastern seaboard at the time, which must have some component associated with globally warming oceans, likely helped Sandy maintain tropical characteristics longer and allowed the storm to travel farther northward than would be expected in late October. Warmer ocean waters would also increase evaporation rates, adding to the moisture and latent heat available to the storm.”

https://thinkprogress.org/climate-tipping-point-century-ahead-of-schedule-warns-...

Think I will leave it there. Those with some interest in the matters of climate, AGW, science or the world generally will, I hope, read the article and look at the linked studies and YouTube for more information.

From a computer model. Actual observations show that is false. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Does this Dr explain why there must be some component of warming?

BTW - You know sea level rise?  Why do "scientists" assume they know about GIA? How do they assess how much the ocean basins are rebounding? Once GIA is removed so is the rise. It doesn't even take into account subsidence.

So now Bobby thinks that Tornado's, hail, flooding and wind are somehow connected to his ice age nonsense. Hail in particular occurs in thunderstorms which are not related to cold.

They have absolutely no connection to an ice age, but thanks for the irrelevant local weather anecdotes Bobby.

Yes, I have advised Booby to look up how hail is formed but doubtless he figures it would make Dubyne look the liar he is so he didn’t look it up.

That makes him look rather the idiot, of course. Oh well.

Is snippy actually modding Fringe or should a better Mod be appointed?

Real Estate, Games, toolshed. and other boards are moribund, maybe appoint new Mods there too?

Environment is dead, appoint Barnacle Mod there then Booby can Mod Fringe. Better all round, I think. Food, Travel and Women’s Issues also are moribund and need a new Mod to breathe some life into them.
