That's exactly right. The volcanoes have been there for millions of years, they haven't had a sudden burst of activity over the past century so they can be ignored as a cause of the ice melt.

So you have read this seminal paper that says that "volcanoes have no effect"? Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin GrinThe_Barnacle wrote on Apr 18th, 2018 at 11:21am:
He knows that it is nothing to do with volcanoes but it is a useful argument to distract and confuse.

I know no such thing. Can you prove that there is no cause and effect? Or are YOU merely babbling?

Each year there is more snow and ice formed. How do you KNOW that there is no effect?

Dubyne says we will have a GSM (why?) and that will usher in a minor ice age. A GSM will cause 0.3°C cooling compared to 1.2°C global warming since 1850. So—Dubyne is selling snake oil and I think must be making good dough from donations and advertising revenue. I think he has at least a share of “Survival Food” the way he is always lying about crop failures, including last year’s Australian wheat crop.

But Dubyne shot himself in the foot saying Arctic temperatures “were recovering.” Recovering from what? The Arctic is just emerging from winter and, according to liar Dubyne, there had been no heating in the Arctic over winter.

So the Arctic is recovering from what?

Obviously, the snake oil seller knows the Arctic did warm in the winter and forgot he told his dupes it hadn’t.

Booby, can you explain what the Arctic is recovering from?

Did Dubyne forget he said the Arctic didn’t warm tho he knew it did? (I and a couple others advised him in detail on Twitter.)

Booby obviously knows, but does not want to admit, that I caught his hero in a straight out, barefaced lie.

If I had posted this in the Dubyne MRB Booby would have just deleted my posts. Booby is not fit to be a MRB Mod, he has shown that VERY clearly.

Forgetting that, the Greenland melt now covers most of the south-eastern coast and part of the southern coast. An early start to the melt season.

At sea level glaciers are calving:
Quote:
Labrador Coast and Strait of Belle Isle (NORTH OF 52°N):
Below normal temperatures coupled with northwesterly winds across southern Labrador caused sea ice to drift southward along the coast. The majority of known icebergs remain inside the sea ice with few icebergs, observed by satellite, drifting in open water. The Western Iceberg Limit is expected to remain east of 60°W in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. IIP estimates that a total of 253 icebergs are present off Labrador and Newfoundland.

Just how early a start is it?

You do realise the south of Greenland is OUTSIDE the Arctic Circle; don't you?

Don't they calve any way?

What some calving in January? Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

BTW- remember your unusual Iceberg numbers scare from last year?

GISS temperatures Jan–Mar this year:

...

Hard to believe we had La Nina conditions, even if weak, late last year and early this year. No ice age in sight  Smiley

Temperatures have reduced a bit—two years since the big 2016 El Nino and as I said with a weak La Nina—but not as much as used to happen following a big El Nino.

2018 winter Arctic sea ice: Bering down

April 4, 2018

The 2018 winter sea ice maximum has passed, and the melt season has begun. The most notable aspect of the 2017 to 2018 winter ice extent was the persistently low ice extent in the Bering Sea. While December, January, and February were characterized by very warm conditions over the Arctic, March temperatures were mixed, with cool conditions over the Eurasian side and moderately warm conditions over the North American side.

Overview of conditions

...
Quote:
Figure 1. Arctic sea ice extent for March 2018 was 14.3 million square kilometers (5.52 million square miles). The magenta line shows the 1981 to 2010 average extent for that month.

Arctic sea ice extent for March 2018 was 14.30 million square kilometers (5.52 million square miles). The magenta line shows the 1981 to 2010 average extent for the month. Sea Ice Index data. About the data

Arctic sea ice extent for March 2018 averaged 14.30 million square kilometers (5.52 million square miles), the second lowest in the 1979 to 2018 satellite record. This was 1.13 million square kilometers (436,300 square miles) below the 1981 to 2010 average and 30,000 square kilometers (11,600 square miles) above the record low March extent in 2017. Extent at the end of the month was far below average in the Bering Sea, as it has been for the past several months, and slightly below average in the far northern Atlantic Ocean and Barents Sea. Ice extent was slightly above average in the Sea of Okhotsk.

Note that the northern parts of the Baltic Sea are frozen and is anyone surprised considering the location? I mention that because the snake oil seller always makes out it is rare that part of the Baltic freezes. It isn’t. He gets away with rubbish like that because the people who believe the crap he talks NEVER check up or think for themselves, real dupes.

Putting Arctic ice extent in context;

...

Where the hell is the ice age, Booby? BTW, Booby, what are Arctic temperatures recovering from? Did the snake oil seller forget he told you dupes and idiots the Arctic hadn’t warmed over winter? Booby—any answer? Your silence on this speaks volumes you know!

I have been posting some of these graphs to Twitter, so people can see what is really happening globally. Hope I have opened some eyes. I will post stuff to discomfort the GSM/Ice Age fraudsters and show their dupes the truth hopefully every day.

Good fun!

Ah, the 1979 snow max. Disregard 1975 folks. That is now folklore. Wink

You are kind to boost Aussie’s post count, Lees, but mostly you post irrelevant stuff, more to comfort yourself than communicate to others.

But I am sure Aussie appreciates your boost to his post count.

Lee, the GMods get all uppity if you don't fully quote what someone has posted.  People get banned for doing what you did which was to isolate a part of a post and not show the full post, leaving it intact.

Just a heads up, so you can avoid repeating the problem.

Well, I can see where sometimes it changes the nature of the post. But not in this case?

Lee.....I can't debate the thing with you.  My post was to let you know what the Rule is....irrespective of whether it changes the nature of the post.  It is a 'strict liability' issue.  Just go with it so the crabs don't get drawn here.
