Totten Glacier—retreating and thinning

Pine Island—calving.

Both poles losing ice.

"More of one of Antarctica's largest and most important glaciers is floating on top of the ocean than previously thought, researchers say, which could have a significant impact on the rise of global sea levels."

So more than they thought? Not more than before? How sad. Wink

Isn't that what glaciers do?

"Although by far the fastest rates of retreat occurred in the Amundsen Sea sector, we show that the Pine Island Glacier grounding line has stabilized, probably as a consequence of abated ocean forcing."

Observations now show H2O, CO2, CH4, N2O, O3 etc do prevent some thermal IR from escaping the planet, causing warming at the surface and lower atmosphere.

In fact any gas molecule made up of more than 2 atoms is potentially a greenhouse gas.

Most of the atmosphere is made up of  O2 and N2 which are not greenhouse gasses. H2O is a greenhouse gas but because it doesn't accumulate in the atmosphere (it falls out as rain) it doesn't cause the temperature to increase.

CO2 on the other hand has been accumulating since the industrial revolution

And methane and nitrous oxide are starting to join CO2.

Not at all Bobby.  This Thread is about the relationship with truth and the environment and it is not a platform for a snake oil salesman's You Tube garbage.

Further, perhaps people would post in DeByne's MRB if the Mod there stopped mucking around with their posts, and was not demonstrating clear biased by allowing his buddies to post material he does not allow others to post.

Oh dear, Booby is getting jealous of this thread, wants it moved to the Dubyne MRB so he can delete and alter posts to make it in accordance with the lies by that snake oil seller, Dubyne.

Booby, a GSM, IF one happens, will cool things by 0.3°C. We have warmed 1.2°C since 1850 so 0.3°C is nothing. Then AGW will wind back that puny bit of cooling in not that much time.

Talk of an ice age is idiocy. Trying to support it with, basically and putting the best possible spin on it, anecdotal evidence (plus plain lies and exaggerations) is futile and kind of pathetic.

Resign as Mod, let someone more suitable Mod what will be Environment again.

Your idiotic ice age crap can be moved to Fringe or the One Nation board.

"Water vapor is known to be Earth’s most abundant greenhouse gas, but the extent of its contribution to global warming has been debated. Using recent NASA satellite data, researchers have estimated more precisely than ever the heat-trapping effect of water in the air, validating the role of the gas as a critical component of climate change."

Better apply to NASA for a job. Tell them where they are going wrong. Wink

At least they are referenced "snipes". Not mere assertions. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

"No volcanoes under Greenland, Arctic"
"Pine Island Glacier - Calving"

I guess truth is relative.

More bullshit from Boobhead:

Quote:
Monk,
Yes I have suspicions that in your secret members room -
a plot was cooked up to vote for global warming.
Why was I not allowed to see the members room?

You have been clearly told you lost privileges because of your behavior and the manner of your leaving my board.

NOBODY bar you and The Moronic believe in an ice age now.

A GSM gives 0.3°C cooling, compared to 1.2°C warming since 1850. That puny bit of cooling will soon be wound back by AGW. So, no basis for an ice age.

Furthermore, the Arctic sea ice is retreating in extent and volume, Greenland loses 280Gtons a year of ice and Antarctica loses more than that now. Funny ice age, does it start at the equator?

Resign as Mod, let someone more suited Mod what would become Environment again (not the Dubyne MRB it is now.) Your ice age fantasy can be moved to Fringe that you could be made Mod of. Or move the crap to the One Nation board that The Moronic moderates.

YOU do not moderate, YOU censor.

And Booby also pretends Antarctic ice is sea ice only.

He also can’t read a graph, so much for all that science education he claims he has. Also—one year is just a blip, means nothing.

...
See how far below the 1981–2010 limit the ice is, and 1980–2010 was already below the long term ice level.

...
Clear trend, right Booby?

There is no ice age coming, ice is disappearing, melting and consequently sea levels are rising. You have been lied to by a snake oil salesman and look ridiculous.

Quit as Mod, let someone with some ability Mod Environment.

Have you actually LOOKED at your chart? I bet you haven’t.

Ice extent is WAY below even 1981–2010 limit. One blip means nothing—if you had any science or maths training you would know this.

Not only is the ice melting, Booby, the permafrost is thawing out.

Ice age is a nonsense, snake oil.

Quote:
Arctic warming is causing changes to sea ice, snow cover, and the extent of permafrost in the Arctic. In the first half of 2010, air temperatures in the Arctic were 4° Celsius (7° Fahrenheit) warmer than the 1968 to 1996 reference period, according to NOAA. Satellite data show that over the past 30 years, Arctic sea ice cover has declined by 30 percent in September, the month that marks the end of the summer melt season. Satellite data also show that snow cover over land in the Arctic has decreased, and glaciers in Greenland and northern Canada are retreating. In addition, frozen ground in the Arctic has started to thaw out. Scientists first started to see changes in the Arctic climate in the 1970s and 1980s.

Changes in the Arctic climate are important because the Arctic acts as a refrigerator for the rest of the world. The Arctic region gives off more heat to space than it absorbs from outside, which helps cool the planet. So changes in the Arctic climate could affect the climate in the rest of the world.
