Lees, not, very much NOT to my surprise, did not mention EAST Antarctica glaciers sliding into the sea.

I think Lees is more dishonest than Booby who is a dupe of Dubyne.

We know Esso/Exxon knew what its products were doing,  now it seems Shell did too.

https://oilprice.com/Alternative-Energy/Solar-Energy/Solar-Attracted-More-Invest...

Solar attracted more investment in 2017 than any other energy technology. With electric vehicle sales ramping up clean energy should zoom. As EV sales ramp up prices come down and cost of owning an EV over it life cycle, already cheaper than for an ICE vehicle, will become massively so.

The big car makers are in a bind: how can they switch to EVs when all their talent and capital are tied up with ICE vehicles? Battery densities keep increasing so the case for an EV over ICE gets stronger and stronger.

Wow. You mean they acknowledge the the IPCC's "peer-reviewed" science too?

Ooh, they reference mathematical models? You know those mathematical models that haven't been right yet. hat must be very bad. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Good ole desmogblog. Can't be any whinier. Never more alarmist.

So how is the #Exxonknew campaign gong?

"A federal judge overseeing a lawsuit dismissed a core section plaintiffs brought in the case — oil companies conspired to cover up global warming science.

San Francisco and Oakland filed suit against five major companies, including Exxon and Chevron, demanding money for damages global warming allegedly caused. A core component of their suit is fossil fuel companies “engaged in a large-scale, sophisticated advertising and public relations campaign” to promote fossil fuels while they “knew” their products would contribute to “dangerous global warming.”

The cities’ suits against oil companies, however, do not show an industry conspiracy to suppress climate science from the public, U.S. District Judge William Alsup said, according to journalists who attended the hearing.

Alsup said plaintiffs “shows nothing of the sort” regarding some sort of conspiracy against science, Conservative journalist Phelim McAleer tweeted."

And Booby describes more massive precipitation, some of which may actually have happened, and does not realise more precipitation is a sign of warming.

Above average sea surface temperatures (SST) so far this year in the Bering Sea. Band of higher SST anomalies in the last month results from the lack of sea ice cover.

The research used satellite techniques to infer changes to glacier grounding lines based on changes in the height of the glacier's surface.

Scanning one-third of Antarctica's marine-based glaciers along a roughly 10,000-mile (16,000 km) stretch of coastline, the work presents a more comprehensive look than other studies of Antarctic glaciers, which have tended to focus on grounding lines in just one key region.

"We were able to quantify more or less all around Antarctica," said Hannes Konrad, the lead author of the research. Konrad works at the University of Leeds in Britain, along with a number of co-authors of the study. Other authors worked at University College London.

The research found that from 2010 through 2016, about 80 square miles (200 square km) per year of ice is being lifted off of the seafloor and going afloat as grounding lines retreat. That's about four times the size of Manhattan every year.

At the same time, the 10.7 percent of Antarctic grounding lines were retreating at a rate faster than 25 meters per year, which the study takes as a benchmark because that rate of retreat is believed to have occurred at the end of the last ice age.

Just 1.9 percent of Antarctic grounding lines were advancing faster than 25 meters per year.

The sea-level implications of the research are troubling, if not direct - researchers cannot precisely quantify sea-level rise just based on the retreat of grounding lines, although they are certainly related.

"We find that 10 percent of the Antarctica ice sheet significantly retreating, but we can't somehow extrapolate sea level rates that come from that," Konrad said.

"But to say 10 percent of Antarctica, this massive ice body, is retreating, still should be some sign of warning. It's large."

Yes. Not Global warming

Apparently noted in the grounding lie paper previously described.

"Grounding line retreat in some of these areas is faster than one kilometre a year. However, it appears that the notorious Pine Island Glacier – one of the fastest retreating glaciers around the turn of the millennium – has now stabilised, showing that extreme speeds are not necessarily sustained.
