nearly everyone wonders- do you -and do you think there is life after death- maybe you dont care- most stories I hear say there is and some say no- I say if you came back to say either way you werent really actually dead-

The latest theory says that 'you get what you believe in'.
It means if you believe in reincarnation you'll be reincarnated, if you believe in haven and hell you'll go there or if you believe in nothing you'll get nothing.
The fact is that your faith determines your moral profile while you are alive

What evidence can you provide?

What evidence you have for anything regarding this subject except faith.

Perhaps we should say existence after death, not life after death.

I would love to know, but I am in no hurry

believe whatever gives you comfort.....to be afraid of dying must be awful....so if you get something out of believing then so what... I hope there is a here after as I have a few questions to ask...

Why do you hope that?

Do you really want to be sitting on a cloud playing a harp for next trillion years?
Wouldn't you get bored?

My friend you are too much down the earth and down to your animal sences.

I have to say I don't know one way or another- I still have an open mind on this one- I believe in the spirit and I believe the spirit does not die- and I have heard to many stories that are too amazing/incredible to explain in laymans terms so I just don't know to be honest- I would like to think there might be something because I would like to see my mother and father again one day- but thats just me- but what if this is it? would we live this life differently if we knew we only have this one one shot- I believe we would-

That is a paragraph that is full of contradictory statements
If you believe in the spirit, and that the spirit does not die then you have clearly already reached a conclusion.

The way I see it is that the null hypothesis is that when we are dead, we are dead. I have not seen any evidence to suggest that there is any afterlife or spirit world.

A belief in an afterlife is a common theme in all the worlds religions and the reason is that it helps us to cope with the grief and trauma of death. But just like other beliefs such as karma and destiny, just because they are a comfort to us that doesn't mean they are true.

I believe our body's constiuents become at one with all matter and our conciousness becomes part of the ether. To think of myself being part of the gaseous nebulae and the soil sub-strata is strangely comforting.

Yup, I think that too.

I believe in a spirit: when I hear the Halleluja chorus in Handel’s Messiah I get goosebumps running up and down my spine. Does that survive my death? See no reason or no mechanism as to why it would.

Ecclesiastes 9:1
For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.
2  All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
3  This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

Corruption will reap corruption.

Its not rocket science.

Ecclesiastes 12:13
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

We are spirit beings, given a 'life',    ....and we are locked within these bodies, for a season.

Q.
What will we      choose     to do, with the time that is given to us here ?

All of mankind is a 'field of wheat'.

Harvest.

And our creator, 'God', is the 'farmer'.

No ?

Scripture is just some crap written down a long time ago. Doesn’t mean it is right or relevant or worth the time of reading the rubbish.

WHY do you ' get goosebumps running up and down my spine'  when that chorus is playing ?

Nope.

IF there was a Heaven where would they put all the "dead people"?

I do realise that some Religions think that they have a space in Heaven.  There is a joke about it.  Wink

*********************************************

Quote:
A man arrives at the gates of heaven. St. Peter asks, "Religion?"

The man says, "Methodist."

St. Peter looks down his list and says, "Go to Room 24, but be very quiet as you pass Room 8."

Another man arrives at the gates of heaven. "Religion?"

"Lutheran."

"Go to Room 18, but be very quiet as you pass Room 8."

A third man arrives at the gates. "Religion?"

"Presbyterian."

"Go to Room 11, but be very quiet as you pass Room 8."

The man says, "I can understand there being different rooms for different denominations, but why must I be quiet when I pass Room 8?"

St. Peter tells him, "Well, the Baptists are in Room 8, and they think they're the only ones here."

Neferti,

Yes, an old and very tasty joke, in post #42, haha.

Acts 10:35
But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Acts 13:26
Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.
27  For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

Proverbs 13:13
Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed.....

Ecclesiastes 12:13
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

To all of the atheists...

Wifi is science.

But comprehension of Wifi, of how it can work, is above most of us !

Wifi in its own way is a type of 'miracle', that men created it, and made it work.

But, God [a creator of all of this] doesn't exist, and 'miracles' are ridiculous ?

Man today, is 'full' of himself.

But in the end, men are just flesh and blood.

Go and live in a desert for just 10 days,      on your own,       and you will feel it.
