About that Iceberg that broke off...
Jul 26th, 2017 at 10:54am

Quote:
With all of the world media hype surrounding the iceberg that broke off of Antarctica's Larsen C ice shelf, the MSM forgot that there were 5x bigger icebergs in 1956 and 1927 that broke off.

As well underwater volcanoes are responsible for the crack, not CO2 warming.

Add to this images coming from Icelandic Air pilots showing steam vents that have opened through the Greenland Ice sheet, which signals an awakening of new vents under that ice sheet.

All of the increases in volcanic and tectonic activity has been predicted as our Earth and Sun enter a grand solar minimum.

It is apparent in the traces of volcanic aerosols in the ice sheets that every grand solar minimum there are more volcanic eruptions.

This is what we are seeing now, but the MSM focuses on human causes for the iceberg, when they should be talking about the intensification of the Eddy minimum.

I think you and your conspiracy blog are being a bit paranoid Mechanic.
I did not see one media report that claimed that the Larson C iceberg was caused by the current Global Warming.

Yeah, the earlier icesheets that broke off reformed but the Larsen A & B ice sheets did nor reform not did the ice sheets around Greenland. The glaciers there are now accelerating their decline into what is now sea.

Big difference.

There are lies about Antarctic waters cooling—they are warming and that is why the West Antarctic ice sheet is about to slide into the Amundsen Sea, why the Larsen C ice sheet thinned by 4 metres.

So many problems with those silly videos.

I don’t know why the guy makes them—must get paid I am sure.

Yeah, Dubyne must have heard that more active vulcanism was a contributory factor leading to the LIA so he has been drumming up volcanic activity to support his weird new ice age thingo. Many weird and wonderful things are said.

Did you know a fox fell through thin ice into the Danube and was flash frozen?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy A lake in Melbourne turned pink and that is a sign of, you guessed it, an ice age!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Antarctic waters are cooling—so why the hell did the Larsen C ice shelf thin by 4m???

Nonsense piled on top of lie.

Full of lies, booby. I pointed out a heap of the lies in Environment.

Dunno why you believe the obvious lies.

Those earlier ice shelves that broke off, new ice shelves were formed in their place. The Larsen A&B iceshelves—no new shelves took their place. The iceshelves around Greenland—disappeared and were not replaced.

2017 ≠ 1927. It is hotter now.

I was going to say something similar. But the point of his message, as I was reading it again just now, was that there were other icebergs larger than the Larsen Ice Shelf that have broken off. Meaning that this is just another usual even that has happened many times over the centuries dating back to Antarctica's formation.

I listen to Triple J at work and they reported the breaking off of the Larsen Shelf iceberg as a result of Global Warming in EVERY reporr. They didn't acknowledge the fact that the Antarctic ice mass had been increasing for the better part of a decade. Bias to the point of deceit.

No scientist said it was due to AGW.

The iceshelf had thinned by 4 metres due to warmer waters below and warmer air above.

Have to see if the rest of the ice shelf will break off and float away and if a new ice shelf will replace it: the Larsen A & B ice shelves did not reform.

So some things different, indicative of AGW but not the actual breaking away.

I distinctly remember a scientist interviewed on Triple J discussing global warming as the cause of the shelf breaking away.

Well, that scientist was wrong.

I would apologise a la Booby but it is nothing to do with me.

The breakaway was nothing to do with AGW.

Triple J is an interesting listen as it caters for an educated under 25 year old demographic that isn't too interested in hearing different views. It's sort of a hug fest for close minded arts students.

The Moronic also watches the Dubyne “Ice Age” videos religiously, the videos that predicted in 2015 that the North West Passage would be closed by “thick ice.” Dubyne quietly removed the video from his playlist after a huge cruiseship sailed through the NW Passage in 2016  Grin Grin Grin

Source Lord Monkton Science Institute:Summary Points:

·         Gore, aiming to undermine the significance of previous warm periods such as that of the Middle Ages, promoted the discredited 1,000-year “hockey stick” temperature chart (McIntyre & McKitrick, 2005).

·         Gore showed heart-rending pictures of the New Orleans floods and insisted on a link between increased hurricane frequency and global warming that is not supported by the facts (IPCC, 2001, 2007).

·         Gore asserted that today’s Arctic is experiencing unprecedented warmth while ignoring that Arctic temperatures in the 1930s and 1940s were as warm or warmer (Briffa et al., 2004).

·         Gore did not explain that Arctic temperature changes are more closely correlated with changes in solar activity than with changes in atmospheric CO2 concentrations (Soon, 2005).

·         Gore did not explain that the Sun has been hotter, for longer, in the past 50 years than in any similar period in at least the past 11,400 years (Solanki et al., 2005).

·         Gore said the Antarctic was warming and losing ice but failed to note, that is only true of a small region and the vast bulk of the continent has been cooling and gaining ice (Doran et al., 2004).

·         Gore mentioned the breakup of the Larsen B ice shelf, but did not mention peer-reviewed research which suggests the ice shelf did not exist 1,000 years ago (Pudsey & Evans, 2001).

·         Gore hyped unfounded fears that Greenland’s ice is in danger of disappearing. In fact its thickness has been growing by 2 inches per year for a decade (Johanessen et al., 2005).

·         Gore falsely claimed that global warming is melting Mt. Kilimanjaro’s icecap, actually caused by atmospheric dessication from local deforestation, and pre-20th-century climate shifts (Cullen et al., 2006).

·         Gore made assertions of massive future sea level rise beyond any supposed scientific “consensus”, when in fact little increase in the rate of sea-level rise is to be expected in the coming century (Morner, 1995, 2004).

·         Gore implied that a Peruvian glacier's retreat is due to global warming, failing to state that the region has been cooling since the 1930s and other South American glaciers are advancing (Polissar et al., 2006).

·         Gore blamed global warming for water loss in Africa's Lake Chad, though NASA scientists had concluded that local water-use and grazing patterns are probably to blame (Foley & Coe, 2001).

·         Gore inaccurately said polar bears are drowning due to melting ice when in fact 11 of the 13 main groups in Canada are thriving, and polar bear populations have more than doubled since 1940 (Taylor, 2006).

·         Gore said the ocean absorbs heat from the Sun, when in fact the ocean takes nearly all of its heat from the atmosphere, without which the ocean would freeze over (Houghton, 2004).

·         Gore said a review of 928 scientific papers had shown none against the “consensus”. In fact only 1% of the papers were explicitly pro-“consensus”; almost 3 times as many were explicitly against (Peiser, 2006).

·         Gore showed a link between changes in temperature and in CO2 concentration in the past 500,000 years, but did not admit that changes in temperature preceded changes in CO2 concentration (Petit et al., 1999).

He is implying that the warming of Antarctica is due to underwater volcanic activity.

What he isn't realizing is that Antarctica is larger in size than Australia so a few volcanic vents are going to have negligible impact.

I know what I heard, champ. I have no reason to lie. I'm not even a climate denier. I think Triple J were making the connection before a young, intellectually-lazy audience who haven't been raised to think for themselves.

No - but I can tell you that almost all of Jovial's ideas come directly
out of Al Gore's speeches & videos.

Both Al Gore & Jovial are absolutely convinced about AGW
& no amount of alternative evidence will persuade them otherwise.

That does not make Gore Monk's Guru, Bobby.

I've just had a look at one of your videos, and if you call that evidence of anything other than irrelevant rubbish, I do hope you are never on a Jury.

I have never read anything Gore wrote and have not watched any of his videos or speeches.

I post scientific papers or discussions about scientific papers. I can get the sense out of them because I do have some scientific training.

But AGW makes sense because the world IS warming and the greenhouse effect has been shown to work.

That is it. Nothing to do with Al bloody Gore.

Utilities knew their emissions would warm the world but covered it up.

Dubyne is likely part of the disinformation campaign utilities mount to be able to keep polluting.

Read the first paragraph -

"Oil giants like Exxon Mobil Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell aren’t the only corporations that understood what was happening to the climate decades ago and covered that knowledge up."

"“Carbon dioxide is not toxic, but it is the chief heat-absorbing component of the atmosphere,” Donald F. Hornig said at the 1968 annual convention of the Edison Electric Institute, according to the trade group’s newsletter from that year. “Such a change in the carbon dioxide level might, therefore, produce major consequences on the climate ― possibly even triggering catastrophic effects such as have occurred from time to time in the past.” "

Oh dear it has happened  before?

At least I don’t watch a paid liar and believe his silly videos. “The NW Passage will be blocked by very thick ice in 2016” which was a silly thing to say with the Arctic sea ice dropping.

A fox flash froze in water—water can’t freeze anything. At cetera.

I get you have a (nasty) sort of religious reason for wanting a major ice age. Wishing will not make it so nor will a million videos by Dubyne.

"The new report, published by the watchdog Energy & Policy Institute, contains dozens of internal documents unearthed from the archives of utility industry associations that initially funded research into climate change, but later opposed efforts to stop it."

They funded research into climate change and later  "opposed efforts to stop it"? So they opposed efforts to stop research into climate change? And this is supposed to be a bad thing?

Lees will never understand it because then he would have to admit AGW is happening.

We know the world is warming—the retreating glaciers, sea ice sheets contracting, land ice sheets retreating. We saw last year was the hottest recorded year, this year nearly as warm despite no El Nino.

And we know some gases are GHGs, CO2, CH$, N2O, H2O and so on. We have seen that these gases let less and less IR escape to earth and send more and more of the IR back to the surface.

While all this has been happening the sun has been in a quiet state. THAT won’t last forever!

Sun has been in a quiet state since the 1980s.

It is now about to go into a minimum.

When it emerges about 2019 what state will it be in? Quiet or active? If active—what is it going to do to temperatures?

Then NASA changed their mind.

Regardless of any minimum: what will it do to temperatures here when the sun moves into its active state?

I have never posted a damn thing from Gore.

There is a good reason for that. I have never read a report or watched a video authored by Gore. Booby doesn’t want to believe that for whatever reason. However, he will not be able to point to a single post I have made quoting or referring to Gore.

But he quotes scientists.

You know the ones that predicted no ice in the Arctic by 2013?

Pssst Bobby.
he's cherry picking again.
Obfuscating as per usual.
In denial as always.
I note not once did he mention Mann or his totally discredited Hockey stick or Mann coping a hiding in court due to his lies.
Oh no he supported him right from when GORE used his graph in an Inconvenient lie... Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

And Jovial has posted plenty of those fake news, hockey sticks.

Jovial is a joke not a scientist.

More ad homs from Booby and he thinks he would make a good Mod here!

And roach is wrong as usual. I have mentioned two court cases Mann is involved in.

I have not posted the “hockey stick” I have only posted GISS, HadCrutt etc temperature series.

I have never posted a damn thing from Gore.

There is a good reason for that. I have never read a report or watched a video authored by Gore. Booby doesn’t want to believe that for whatever reason. However, he will not be able to point to a single post I have made quoting or referring to Gore.

Gore is the Father of AGW....
His presentation of An Inconvenient Truth and his subsequent life and receiving the Nobel Prize etc makes it so.
You can deny that as much as you deny everything else, but he brought the Hockey Stick Graph and Mann to the world and many other alarmists and alarmist claims that you have supported.

oh dear. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
