Lucas Heights is small and not a generator.

Will take too long to build our own.

If we buy a breeder reactor it will “burn” its waste.

But many coal fired generators are due to be retired over the next 20 years, why not plan a modular reactor, start small and build it up.

BigOle’s statement re losses in transmission need not be an insuperable obstacle: ultra high voltage DC loses very little.

Can be managed

What is a half-life and what is the average of today's waste products?

A half life is the time half the radioactive material decays. Time to lose all radioactivity, 2–300,000 years

The yanks are happy for us to buy Nuclear Power Equipment from them
They are also very happy to use us as a global dump for waste.

Homework for Monk.

There are no working fusion reactors and they are unlikely to exist in our lifetimes.

Thorium reactors are the way to go and probably the next big thing.

India and us have lots of Thorium.

Oh if you are so lazy or ignorant I can answer the questions for you.

BTW the last US reactor took 43 years to build and commission.
