Investment in fossil fuels has peaked. Nuclear and renewables are the future.

I believe a mix of renewables and nuclear presents the path forward for the next 30–50 years. Need nuclear as a GHG emissions free non–intermittent power source and baseload power supplier to industry.

Rooftop solar and small wind generators to supply decentralised power.

Storage will also be necessary even if only to allow phased load shedding when our gimcrack privatised power networks fail because a brisk breeze is blowing.

Several coal fired generators will be switched off over the next two decades. What will replace them? Doubt it will be coal. Coal has caused FAR more deaths than nuclear energy has since the 1950s. FAR more.

Ok I'll say we could use coal... there is a better chance of carbon capture technology working than fusion any time soon.

We eventually will have to face an Ice Age and in those times we will need a much different mix of power sources.
Studies show that the Ice Age when it comes will come on quickly, if we don't have a plan B then we will get wiped out, most certainly most of us will be. We will need to adapt to any climate changes. We will need a new base load power source. One that can provide power through any environmental changes we need to address. One where we do not produce toxic waste that will be with us for millenia.
