The Nth Qld people who really matter want ADANI to go ahead to create jobs and growth in this deprived area.

What do the vile Greenies reckon they should eat - witchetty grubs ?

Mine needed for 'dying' outback Qld: KAP
AAP 9:13am May 24, 2017

...

Key Queensland parliament crossbencher Rob Katter says the state's outback economy is "dying" and the stalled Carmichael mega-mine is the best way to revive it.

The Mount Isa MP, who along with his Katter's Australian Party colleague Shane Knuth hold and a handful of other crossbenchers hold the balance of power in state parliament, says a feeling of "despair" would deepen in places like Townsville if the $21 billion mine project is held up.

"I'm not saying it's all perfect and kosher with the environment but it's the best solution we've got and we're dying out there," he told ABC Radio on Wednesday.

The Adani mine is uneconomic and if it goes ahead will just create an almighty mess the long suffering taxpayer will have to clean up.

Wishing doesn’t change the facts. Adani has neither customers nor finance for the proposed mine.

The utterly boring uninformed Greenie sympathizer STATUS SYMBOL TROLL MM is dropping Greenie witchetty grubs again.

But now a welcome relief from the nobody troll desperately seeking recognition and back to the TOPIC.

Now the Greenie slime in Qld is uncovered.

Jackie Trad kowtows to Greens and walks away from regions
Michael McKenna Reporter Brisbane The Australian 12:00AM May 24, 2017

The brawl over the Adani royalties deal exposes the real-world consequences of the deep factional and personal divisions in the Palaszczuk government.

Ever since stumbling into power, the government has been riven by discord, distrust and a tug-of-war between governing and activism.

...
The 11th-hour challenge to the royalties deal from left cabinet ministers, led by Deputy Premier Jackie Trad, now threatens a project that promises thousands of new jobs.

Trad, Energy Minister Mark Bailey and others argue it is about keeping an election promise of no taxpayer subsidies for the mine — even though Trad signed off on Treasury exploring the royalties deal in mid-2015. The truth is this is about green politics, and whether Trad and her fellow left MPs want to be associated with being in power when Australia’s newest and biggest coalmine got the go-ahead.

It is a legitimate policy question — given climate change and the widening call for action, but it is a debate that should have been settled when then premier Anna Bligh, advised by Trad, welcomed Adani some seven years ago to open-up the Galilee coal province.

After the Greens last year won their first council ward in Brisbane — in the middle of Trad’s inner-city electorate — Labor MPs are on edge.

Now, it seems, they are willing to damage Queensland’s reputation with overseas investors such as Adani — at the center of India’s economic boom — to appeal for urban green preferences, which are likely to flow Labor’s way regardless. It is a big risk.

More than a handful of marginal Labor seats are in central and north Queensland.

The region has been ravaged by the resources downturn, with tens of thousands of jobs lost and unemployment high, especially among the youth.

The Carmichael mine is the biggest project on the horizon, and regional economic boost is undeniable.

If Labor loses those regional seats, it makes it almost impossible to be re-elected.

It is tipping point for Queensland Labor, with the question now as to whether it wants to be a progressive party — probably out of office — or a worker’s party in government.

Shorten and Trad are cut with the same cloth. Both don't want this project and will look for any way to stop it and make it look like it is someone else's fault. They just keep raising the height of the bar and when eventually the company can't jump any higher, they can say ' see we told you so!'

Qld labor looks to SA Labor as a role model. Get out the candles.

Andrew 1 hour ago
Ultimately though, Qlders should have known what they were getting when they voted labor - rule by CFMEU and Greens and Getup!

Andrew 1 hour ago
I hate to see this happen, but maybe if it sops Bill Shorten becoming PM, because miners and those rural Qld seats don't vote labr, well that could be something of a silver lining (would much rather have the project though, and I agree that Turnbull is useless, but at least he professes support for the mine).

Conrad is a Winner AGAIN 1 hour ago
Central Queensland desperately needs this mine. This part of Australian has done it hard since the end off the mining boom.
Labor are city centric and can't see the big picture and are not representative of regional Queensland.

@Conrad is a Winner AGAIN  And increasingly not representative of blue collar workers.

I wonder sometimes whether international investors experience the same rubbish in other democracies (not including dictatorships where often pay-offs are the MO) as they seem to have with Australian governments and the lobbyists opposing their plans.  Is this a peculiar Australian disease?  It seems that a small band of well organised and funded lobbyists - often not elected to be the spoke-persons for the rest of us - can bring about the failure of the projects to gain approvals to proceed, even when our stringent environmental and Due Diligence requirements are satisfied.  Just why do we bother to have such standards when these people seem to have the influence to deny opportunities for this country to grow our wealth and provide employment to many crying out for work.  The goal of lobbyists cannot the be-all and should be required to show who are the beneficiaries of their activism.  I suspect if you follow the money trail, you will find the Svengali's in the background who are pulling the strings.

I have recently spoken at length with people who know Adani, and their description of the man and his organisation is totally counter to what is being reported in the  media and promoted by many who are nothing more than 'talking heads'.  These people had no barrel to push about Adani, so who is one to believe - the people who know him personally, or those who have an agenda to discredit what he trying to achieve?

Some more actually INTELLIGENT COMMENTS SO different from the Lefties' vacant stares.

Mike,
I've often wondered the same thing. Are we alone in the never ending game of cutting our noses off to spite our faces. I live in Nth Queensland and we badly need jobs. The irony being that a hell of a lot of the people employed would vote Labor. How the CFMEU can still support this mob is beyond me. Their members must be sheep. They are voting for the same mob that is trying its hardest to get them out of a job.

Andrew63 1 hour ago
Labor don't care. Its all about them and their small minded political outcomes. Labor and politics generally, has lost its way and dont have the depth of skills and experience to understand outcomes. People are getting very frustrated with politics and the people within it.

Murray 1 hour ago
Can the reporter give us some empirical evidence about ''man induced '' climate change he mentions in his article ?

Bob 9 minutes ago
@Murray These lefty reporters always try and slip these views in but CANNOT answer the question you pose. They truly are 'fake 'news peddlers !!!

A B 2 hours ago
To hell with Labor and its factions. What about the people of Queensland who are again watching a major project collapse under the weight of Labor's infighting, incompetence and ideological clap-trap.

Get out of the way Queensland Labor!

Jonathan 2 hours ago
I always find it ironic that the Chardonnay/latte set living in luxury in their inner city glass towers or Byron beach sides are the first to vote Green for the environment while those who actually live in the wilder parts and experience it first hand are the last to vote Green .....

Iain 2 hours ago
How ironic yet predictable. Trad would prefer to save her seat (in inner city Brisbane) at the expense of loss of labor seats in the mining belt in central Queensland. Speaks volumes about politicians.

C 2 hours ago
What climate change?
What widening calls for action?

Cheryl 1 hour ago
@C That ridiculous sentence:  "It is a legitimate policy question — given climate change and the widening call for action" just took away all credibility from that article.

philip 3 hours ago
The other thing about Trad's position on the Adani royalties is that she cares more about retaining her seat in parliament than she does about unemployed workers and their families in regional Qld.

philip 3 hours ago
Trad's action on this shows that:

- she believes she is more important to the Labor party (and the Greens supporters) in Qld than the Premier, Palaszczuk, and several regional labor MPs. Doubt that will go down well for party cohesion.

- she is prepared to risk Labor losing the next election in order to retain her seat in parliament.

- she sees herself as the next premier.

Labor gave up on workers with the advent of Rudd. Now it is simply the party of agendas.

If anyone is wishing it is you, wishing your unsubstantiated lies were even close to being true.

Destroying jobs and destroy people and committing whole communities to a life of poverty is the only truth coming out of this from QLD labor.

We need to separate the north from the self service fkken scum in the south and it needs to happen yesterday.

I was actually thinking more of something like this:

[quote]Bradfield Scheme - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradfield_Scheme

The Bradfield Scheme, a proposed Australian water diversion scheme, is an inland irrigation ... It was proposed that water from the Tully, Herbert and Burdekin rivers be diverted west. Purpose, Irrigate .... It was regarded as the next great water engineering project to build after the Snowy Mountains Scheme. — Adrian Watts ...]

With the north getting more rain and the south less it would make even more sense now.

Who do you think will make that happen or want to be a part of any major project after this abortion of a fkk up by QLD labor.

QLD labor is a fkken joke and we are the ones who will suffer due to their gross incompetence.

A separate state is the only thing that will fix our reputation to potential investors.

The Adani mine is not viable and that has been obvious for a long time.

They were getting $1Bn for a rail line and unlimited water from the Great Artesian Basin. How is that not trying to get the mine up and running? Just how much public money does fvvcken Adani want anyway?

Well, the deputy premier and the left faction are deliberately undermining the project to ensure it does not go ahead, The premier handed $600 000 of QLD taxpayer funds to green groups to stop the project through legal challenges.

So far the only people who have received any public money are the anti- jobs green groups.  Angry Angry

And the will do exactly the same for any projects in the north.

The mine is not viable and that is that.

Qld Labor made Adani the invaluable gift of unlimited water out the GAB. No matter how much the mine is subsidised it does not have customers nor finance! Unviable!

FGS look for another project that is viable and stop crying about Adani!

The coal will replace India's filthy coal with higher calorie and cleaner coal, so there isd a very good market and a growing market. And don't forget the government of south east Queensland regularly subsidises foreign companies to set up in brisbane, Why shouldn't;t the north get the same?

And if this fails due to the gross incompetence of the QLD labor government what makes you think anyone would want to do business here? We have an anti- jobs and anti- business government that looks to appease the QLD greens who they owe for gaining power.

There has been billions available for infrastructure and no-one wants to do business with us because of this government, so what do you suggest?

On my board I recorded the history of the Carmichael mine as potential customers left one after the other, as various banks/financiers pulled out of providing finance. The Qld Labor govt gave concession after concession the latest of which was the GIFT of unlimited water out of the GAB and STILL the bloody mine is not viable!

Meantime, 2/3 or so of the GBR has been killed by AGW warming the waters the GBR is in beyond the ability of the coral to bear, killing a large part of GBR tourism.
