Adani does not have enough customers for its mine. Adani does not have the finance to develop its mine. Adani will shortly pull the plug entirely on its proposed mine.

Adnai will probably pull out of Australia all thanks to the labor party and their anti-jobs policies, but they will in all likelihood start mining actual low quality coal from india, something all of india was hoping to avoid.

Well done, we have traded our high quality coal for their low quality all in the name of the environment; you fkken cretins.  Angry Angry Angry

And the icing on the cake for all, endless crippling unemployment for the north, a big thank you for that too.

Is any of that coking coal in the area Adani says it wants to mine?

Thermal coal is in steep decline.

All predictable comments from the self-interest groups surrounding this project like a pack of hyenas...

Just keep the same rules for any and all projects, keep the royalties the same for all, and that way there are none of these shenanigans.  they want the resource, they'll pay the going rates without all this flim-flammery and flip-flopping over hw much they'll pay or get for it.

You want to develop a project - pay for it - this nation is currently near bust due to this kind of sweetheart deal, and the best way to get over that specific problem is to ensure there are rules and they are kept for 'investment' - not the other way around of screaming:-

.......fire sale.. fire sale - read all about it  - desperate country need cash at any cost - will reduce costs to get a percentage of real value... will make a deal.. but wait.. we got more! free water with every project, free port facilities and subsidised infrastructure just to get you going... come and get it.... supine government ready to sell out grand-children's future for thirty pieces of silver less discounts.... first 50,000 applicants only... get in for your FREE ride NOW....

Adani is not viable now, imagine if it had to pay its way: build its own railway line, pay for water pumped from the GAB, pay royalties like other miners. . .just would not go ahead.

Looks like it still is not going ahead, ever.

There's Tony's 'investment' for you - subsidies up the kazoo for little to no real benefit to this nation, and all profits offshored (again) while this nation wallows in unemployment and declining standards of living for the majority, and escalating social and economic divides.

Stupid politicians need a class in remedial investment for the nation strategy.  You really have to wonder what they use for brains.

So to you lot getting 100% of nothing is better than getting decent percentage of something.

Yeah the people of the north tank you for your input into the destruction of our livelihood.

You don’t imagine Tony the Pinhead would understand economics? He just heard “10,000 jobs” and that was enough. What a clown!

Why accept a lesser percentage than the going rate?  THAT's the issue here - not all or nothing.

It's not US that are holding up this 'project' - it's the stupidity of government in offering handouts to an Indian vulture who figures if he keeps 'negotiating' he'll get the whole deal for free, or with all costs borne by us.

If stupid governments hadn't made overtures of 'helping' this 'investment' - but said - these are the rules, take it or leave it.... they would not now be tangled up in all this bullshit.

Wake up, Big Ol.

Anti jobs? Qld Labor gave them unlimited water from the GAB which can’t afford that and a royalty holiday. It is a project that is doomed by inadequate demand.

Keep blaming whoever, not a way I want to run my life. Try thinking instead of just reacting. What about a Snowy Mts type scheme on the Burdekin (or whatever river?) Irrigation water, hydro electricity, jobs, more investment following that? Or cling to a project that shed financiers and customers at a rapid rate.

Lack of demand is the killer, not the ALP!

Offering $320M holiday on royalties - money that could go to job creation in Queenslund (where they still do things diff'runtly, you mark my words) - is a 'Labor anti-jobs policy'?

How so?  It looks from down here under the sphincter of Queensland, from which all the detritus flows south, that the Labor government up there is selling out to Adani to get  this thing going.

Weak as piss...

More info about coal to educate the Lefties who don't have a clue.

Why the world wants Australia's clean energy rich coal.

Japan needs it to fuel its 45 NEW Clean Coal Power Stations to feed its huge industry.

India wants it to reduce the pollution from Indonesian coal.

China quite likes the taste too especially in their new Clean Coal Power Stations.

‘Australia’s coal resources are world class in magnitude and quality.’

Coal quality has a major influence on the design of power, cement and steel plants, as well as their operation, performance and emissions. In assessing coal quality, energy, sulphur and ash content are considered together.

Other factors include moisture and trace element content.

For thermal coals, high quality implies coals with a high energy-value (Specific Energy) and low impurities (ash and sulphur). Fortunately, ‘Australia has large deposits of high-energy, low ash coal that is suitable for use in advanced coal-generation technologies.’

As illustrated by Figure 1, Australia is a significant exporter of high energy-content, thermal coals.

These thermal coals contain low levels of sulphur and moisture.

They also have low levels of arsenic (Ar), boron (B), mercury (Hg), selenium (Se) and other trace elements when compared with other internationally traded coals (Figure 2).

These high quality coals produce fewer emissions per unit of electricity produced and command a higher price in export markets.

Be informed and read to full story of the glory of Australia's sunlight stored energy coal here

China knows how to generate power cheaply with their world leading Clean Coal Power Station.

Watch the Lefties squirm and furiously start searching their Greenie Propaganda Sites and chuck in a bit of Trolly Waffle from MM.

China hopes Shanghai clean coal plant sets example
08/23/2016

A Shanghai coal-fired power plant is being championed as a model for the rest of China to emulate, as a result of the efficiencies created through its design.

New Scientist reports that a Chinese engineer has re-engineered the Shanghai-Waigaoqiao No. 3 Power Plant to make it one of the world’s most efficient – and a potential model for the country’s coal-burning future.

...
Shanghai-Waigaoqiao No. 3 Power Plant

While the Beijing government is working hard to incorporate more renewables into the energy mix, China still has a large dependency on coal, as oil and gas reserves are limited.

Feng Weizhong, general manager of the state-run plant, has overseen the introduction of technology which have enabled the plant to mill coal, generate electricity and remove sulphur compounds from its gas stream more efficiently.

Feng’s supporters say that he achieved his efficiency gains in Shanghai by designing site-specific, cost-effective solutions for each component of the plant.

The plant burns 276 grams of coal per kilowatt-hour, compared with China’s national average of 315 grams per kilowatt-hour

The plant supplies about 8 per cent of the megacity’s power and is in one of the country’s largest power-generating complexes.

Mao Jianxiong, an energy expert at Beijing’s Tsinghua University who has consulted at the plant told New Scientist that Feng is currently working on a plant prototype that promises even greater gains.

Feng is designing a plant that he says will have as its signature feature a system that more efficiently transfers steam between the boiler and turbine and reduces the need for expensive steel piping.

Mao says the new plant, in the eastern province of Anhui, will burn 251 grams per kilowatt-hour. If all China’s coal-fired plants were that efficient, the country would reduce its annual carbon dioxide emissions by some 7 per cent, he says.

The coal lobby, including the World Coal Association, has consistently warned that coal will continue to dominate the energy mix in much of the developed world and called for investment in clean coal technology as a means of reducing the emissions that are inevitable in that scenario.

So you are saying that the anti-jobs party should spend $320 million they haven't collected on making jobs?

So these jobs appear out of money that doesn't exist for whom doing what?

There is $5 bil set aside for northern infrastructure spending after 3 years the ONLY money spent is for salaries for the southern directors. Not one single job has come out of that fund.

Not one single person who is against this project has come up with a solution for the massive unemployment crippling the north.

So thanks for your input but you are part of the problem.
