Jo Lieberman and his firm have too much history with Trump, there is a conflict of interest, again. But does it surprise anyone?
It does seem that with Trump, the idea is not to choose the right person but rather, the LOYAL person.
It isnt going to help. Trump will still get impeached.
We'll see, but he's been bullet proof this entire time. He set the bar in his attacks on Clinton as to what sort of behaviour and ties were unacceptable for whoever hold the Oval Office, but he's not even tried to reach that bar but instead limbo under it, and his supporters don't care.
They're not chanting "lock him up" and anyone who speaks out or reports on these instances are either labelled a butthurt snowflake who can't accept Trump won the elections or it's dismissed as Fake News.
Even Trump is trying to feed that other than with the obvious "you're fake news" but now he's claiming to be the victim in all of this saying no other President has had to face what he has and again his supporters rally behind that. It doesn't matter if his claim isn't true, they don't care.
His way or the highway, you're either with "us" or against us.
Concrete evidence in this sort of landscape may not even be enough...
I've tried to avoid it at the risk of it simple being "these people don't agree with me therefore they're stupid", but there has to come a time now that his supporters are not only applauding his actions that when Clinton was being accused of the same (often without merit) they were foaming at the mouth, they're not only applauding Trump taking these actions, but they're defending it and attacking his critics.
Surely, at some point that starts to just become plain stupid...
But either way, people are taking bets and Trump out before Christmas seems to be popular. I for one however just can't see it happening. Yes Trump has operated without impunity in the business world because he held all the cards (and was litigious as bugger) and there is no way he can continue his MO in the Oval, but since ever scandal to date would have been enough to bring down any other President, I just can't imagine, and I don't think I really want to, what it would take to actually bring him down and serve him some well overdue accountability for his actions.
I think this is an unprecedented presidency and so most of the old rules dont apply and we are having to come up with new ones and frankly, mostly guesswork. But the undeniable truth is that Trump is exceedingly UNpopular. Even his base has shrunk by 10% and those opposed to him are very much opposed. Because he is incapable of changing and unable to take advice we can safely assume that things will not get better, but will get worse. And presumably, the rate at which it gets worse will increase. As the various investigations start to reveal increasingly bad news, his polls will continue to slide.
Like you, I am gobsmacked by the stupidity of trump supporters at large. If Clinton or Obama had done just one of the 30 things this clown has done, they would be calling for his head. If Obama had sought to interfere into an investigation into himself, Republicans would have impeached him - an rightly so. Perhaps why I am so disgusted by Republicans is because they are just so incredibly partisan, so amazingly in favour of vote rigging and cheating and almost desperate to make poor people suffer. But worst of all is that so many of them appear to place Party before Country. IN any fair and reasonable congress, filled with men and women of integrity, honesty and patriotism, Trump would already be looking at impeachment or at the very least Congressional Censure. But there is nothing... yet.
it is my firm belief that the sheer quantity of scandals and lies will force reluctant Republicans to act, if only for their own political skins. It will take time, but there is a massive unknown still brewing in the background and that is Russia.
Suppose that compelling evidence arises that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia. This is not just a smoking gun but a nuke exploding in the WH. Even if Trump had nothing to do with it personally, he will still be thrown out for simply being aligned with these people plus, who is going to believe he was in the dark anyhow? The man lies like most people breathe. His word is not credible. He is one of those people whose every word needs to be proven otherwise we assume lies.
I believe that the sheer accelerating mass of scandal and evidence for corruption and possible treason will take down Trump and possibly do so quickly.
Nixon won 49 states in a landslide and yet the democrats won the next election comfortably. And Nixon was only accused of covering up a crime. Trump concievably has committed much, much greater crimes. The republicans will soon realise that their only hope of not being massacred for the next 20 years is to stand up for what is right - even if it is for self-preservation reaons.
