Glad I'm not a polar bear.

Why, their numbers are increasing?

Are they? The polar bear population is shifting towards Canada but whether it is actually increasing is far from certain.

Polar bears are probably evolving to increase their tolerance of warmer temperatures in response to climate change.

If Polar Bear numbers are increasing, this is probably due to an increase in their food supply, fish. It is speculated that fish are moving further North and South, seeking cooler water, in response to rising sea temperatures.

Moving towards Canada? Maybe that is why they are called POLAR bears. Must be sick and tired of the warm Maine weather. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

"The polar bear is found in the Arctic Circle and adjacent land masses as far south as Newfoundland."

Source: wiki.

Newfoundland is a part of Canada. Wink

The Arctic is more than just Canada. That seems to come as a surprise to Lees but there you go. The bears are drifting towards the Canadian Arctic.

Oh dear. You have had to change your stance. Now moving further north in Canada instead of jus escaping Trump and moving to Canada.

"Heavy sea ice off Newfoundland and southern Labrador has been an issue for months: it brought record-breaking numbers of polar bear visitors onshore in early March and April and since then has hampered the efforts of fisherman to get out to sea."

https://polarbearscience.com/tag/newfoundland/

Moving further North or moving South or merely moving around?

Yep. Fish moving further South to find cooler water, in the Northern hemisphere. Wink

Polar bears are intelligent animals. Some are moving to land and rivers and eating fish, acting more like grizzly bears.

The ones that stay in the Arctic are drifting to the part of the Arctic near/on Canada.

No, we said the uncertainty of the census is pretty high.

Factoid... according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, the polar bear population stands between 20 and 31,000, the highest it has been for the past 50 years.

Gave they got their travel docs. Gotta keep an eye on those Siberians. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Of course you have a peer-reviewed paper or something other than the Garudian to support your contention. Wink
