um, didn't you just say there was no such thing as a perfect black body?

Yes. That's what the science says. A perfect black body emits all the incoming radiation. If it reduces it by 30%, that is 70% is emitted, it is nor a perfect black body.  Wink

not a perfect is not the same as not a black body.

As to keeping the heat—that is AGW.

It is not a perfect?
It is more like a grey body.

Strange I thought the earth did that pre-human. Pre-AGW? Grin Grin Grin Grin

For those with a real interest here is an animation of temperatures in the years 1850–

...

It is clear that temperatures are increasing: any statistical test of the null hypothesis that temperatures are stable in this period will end with the null hypothesis being falsified. Clearly temperatures are increasing.

There you go, 1850–2016, that a long enough period, Desperate Lees?

Then we have the spectrometry evidence for GHGs in the atmosphere blocking IR photons from escaping from the surface to space.

The warming is accelerating even as the sun has been quiescent.

AGW is warming the globe. No ifs, ands or buts!

Nope

This one goes back to the dark ages;

So, you saying those temperatures were caused by AGW? Nope.

No, the warming in the last 167 years is from anthropogenic causes. We know it is not the sun causing the warming—the sun has been quiet since the 1980s.

Longer timescales—different factors. Irrelevant to now.

The interglacial that is supposed to be ending about now? Nope, not going to end, we are warming the world. When the sun moves into a more active state I dread to think how warming will get worse quite quickly!

Got a reference for that? The IPCC says the CO2 was too low to measure anything until the second half of the twentieth  century, because CO2 was too low. And then only half from the mid-twentieth century. But I haven't seen any papers determining one or the other.

Sea surface temperatures were added to land-based temperatures about 1996. How accurate are the old sea surface temperatures that have been modelled back to 1880?

So visible light doesn't contribute to warming? Wink

Oh now even for a geologist that's not nice.  But it does explain your interest in the amber fluid eh.
A perfect "black body" has not been found yet, so why are you even discussing it.  Didn't Planck toss a hole in that theory anyway?
So now YOU claim AGW goes back 167 years...  you better tell Al and his acolytes.
Hmmmm...  good name for a band eh...  a pub band...
I can tell you and as a geologist you must have some real knowledge that warming and cooling go back a lot further than that....  and will continue to do so.  Been hotter and colder before you know.  You know even the continents have looked different...   Roll Eyes

I'll tell you what I'll concede the point that man does have some affect on the planet if you drop the alarmist AGW crap hey?

Why do you consider 166 years a "long enough period"?
