Action on AGW, is it enough?
May 21st, 2017 at 9:23pm

...

Quote:
While global emissions of heat-trapping pollution appear to be stabilizing, they have not shown any signs of decreasing, which would be necessary to slow climate change. Rising temperatures are worsening floods, storms and wildfires around the world.

“Right now, when you sum the actions of all countries, even under the Paris agreement, it’s insufficient to mitigate dangerous, human-caused climate change,” said Matto Mildenberger, a political scientist at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

“Different countries move forward on climate issues with their own rhythm in response to domestic political factors,” Mildenberger said. “It’s naive to think that pro-climate forces will be in power across the world at the same time.”

Here’s a trip around the world, assessing how pro-climate and anti-climate forces are faring in key nations and regions and showing how recent developments are affecting the languishing fight against global warming.

Show us that pretty GISSTEMP graph again, so we can see the warming. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Re the seed vault that got flooded:

Quote:
The vault’s managers are now waiting to see if the extreme heat of this winter was a one-off or will be repeated or even exceeded as climate change heats the planet. The end of 2016 saw average temperatures
over 7C above normal
on Spitsbergen, pushing the permafrost above melting point.

How sad. How does one pinpoint on the map show runaway A GLOBAL Warming. That is your proposition; so show the effect GLOBALLY. That's your headline.

How the Arctic is releasing CO2 and methane earlier than thought:

So it is not about AGW but gas release.

From the paper -

"Commane said you can’t really see the CO2 hovering in the air. But you can feel it."

Pretty impressive to blame a bumpy plane ride on CO2.

" “I think the main reason we’re worried about this is because as the temperatures are increasing and we’ve been seeing that happening for the last few years, the amount of CO2 that’s going to come out will go with that temperature,” Commane said."

Wow. Such certainty.

...

Which sites is she claiming are rising rapdly?

"Eventually, they came up with climate models to help forecast the change.
“The problem is that most of the those models predicted that for 100 years into the future,” Commane said. “We’re now having to reassess, OK, this needs to be added to those models now. Because we’re seeing this much earlier than we thought we would see it.” "

Sounds like a true zealot.

"“Yeah, I feel like there’s not much I can do which is almost frustrating,” Commane said. “It’s such a complex system, and we’ve pushed it past the point of us being able to do anything about it.”
The one thing Commane can do is collect more data on the Arctic. She saidit’s important for scientists to continue to track the changes to come."

Otherwise known as "send more money".

And not one shred of data.

What causes AGW? Gas?  Wink

Only when you fart. BTW- did you notice not even a mention of methane? How odd is that?

You forgot UHI, land use change. Wink

You haven't shown CO2 has done anything. Remember that thing about CO2 being logarithmic? And how the effect on temperature reduces as it increases?

Oh, you don't fart?
The story mentioned methane?

You do know a lot about desperation; I'll give you that. But only as it applies to you. Wink

Quote:
Melting permafrost can release not just CO2, but also
methane
, a much stronger heat-trapping gas.

While most models that include melting permafrost look at CO2, Russian scientists have recently discovered some 7,000 underground bubbles of permafrost-related
methane
in Siberia. Since
methane
traps heat 86 times more effectively than CO2 over a 20-year span, these findings suggest that the effect of the melting permafrost is even greater than first thought.

Poor desperate Lees.

And boy is the Arctic heating up:
Quote:
On Monday, NASA reported that April 2017 was the second-hottest April on record — only April 2016 was hotter. As the map above shows, Arctic temperatures were blistering, up to
13.5°F (7.5°C) above the 1951–1980 average.

Yes. Now all you have to do is show it has never happened before.. Remember it is supposed to be unprecedented.
