33,000 people die from firearms in the USA every year.

About 12,000 of those are suicides.
we need comparison statistics from open carry states showing deaths before and after open carry laws. But you can bet your bottom dollar the pro gun lobby wont show that.

Thats a unrealistic fear you have. Australia was once one the the safest countries on Earth. Freedom increases personal responsibility and in the case of someone who could be carrying a gun - manners!
Im not fearful at all, I simply recognise the truth, anyone who goes anywhere near any of our nightlife areas knows how violent young Australians are, adding available firearms to that mix would be extremely stupid. Add to that we have 3 percent of the population who are congenital criminals with a hatred for anyone who acquires anything through industry and a propensity for robbing, raping and killing, adding firearms to the mix here would be an unmitigated disaster.

When people mention firearm suicides it shows they don't care about those who kill themselves by other methods, hanging has become our most common method for suicide yet no gun grabber will ever mention that.

I knew Phil Bolger he killed himself with his pistol, he made the decision to do this because previous generations of his family became senile and he didn't want to end up like them, would you prefer he hung himself instead of using a gun?
Is this the type of suicide you wish to prevent?

Funny how some people are all for assisted suicide, as long as they don't use a gun. Smiley
Lets see the stats I asked for first, then i will destroy you on this as well.

Will you take him into the forest, Rhino?

Miam miam.
No need to 'take" anyone anywhere. got a coherent arguement yet?

Not yet, Rhino. Will you be taking your shovel with you?
Depends.  Are you coming?

Not yet, dear. I may need a bit more lubrication.

why must you be so gullible and stupid?  For every good samaritan with a concealed weapon there is 100 offenders with a concealed weapon.

Notice how often this kind of thing DOESNT happen here in OZ?  Never, because we dont have the crime being committed in the first place.

Comparing the USA to Australia in this case is virtually irrelevant. Just how you line the two up, I don't know. We are a little country with few firearms, a peaceful history and nothing like the social pressures of a country of 300 million people.

That being said, aren't we fascinated when some nasty sucker gets wasted in a Hollywood action movie.

The good Samaritan had a concealed carry permit he shot the offender, he didn't get into any trouble for doing that.

And if the guns had been restricted, there would not been any need to have shot him since he would have been an active puncher

An armed and trained population with guns is a massive deterrent to invasion whether you comprehend that or not. You think about Indonesia with a population 10 X that of Australia's a fraction of the size who regards Australia as part of their World and shouldn't be owned by whites.

Also up until Port Arthur Australia was a heavily armed population. Was violence much greater before?

This is an area of small acreages - semi rural and yes home breakins are non-existent - at least I haven't heard of any. Because robbers know that they can be shot dead - legally. Having a gun for a single old woman is a great equalizer.

Australians are not more independent - far from it. America celebrates individualism and imagination.

So let's just ignore all the contributing factors and cherry pick the one slightly pro-gun statistic.
