Who said I believe Al Gore?

I quote scientists, experiments made and the results.

You don’t even see the sense of what somebody said, just because he said “weather” instead of climate—but he paints a clear word picture (he is a journo) of how things have changed, how climate bands are creeping north.

Ohh - so Al Gore was wrong?

No, I describe what is happening.

Who predicted an ice clear Arctic, Bobby?

Al Gore Predicted Arctic Summer Ice Could Disappear In 2013

By Barbara Hollingsworth | September 13, 2013 | 12:05 PM EDT

(CNSNews.com) –  A 2007 prediction that summer in the North Pole could be “ice-free by 2013” that was cited by former Vice President Al Gore in his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech has proven to be off… by 920,000 square miles.

In his Dec. 10, 2007 “Earth has a fever” speech, Gore referred to a
prediction by U.S. climate scientist Wieslaw Maslowski

that the Arctic’s summer ice could “completely disappear” by 2013 due to global warming caused by carbon emissions.

Jovial,
it was Al Gore who started all this nonsense.
You believed it like a gullible, puerile, fool.

Now - apologise.

Actually, scientists were talking about AGW in the 1800s. Al Gore is publicising the threat AGW poses. That has nothing to do with the science.

Now look at part of what you posted, Booby:

Ad homs, of course because you have no knowledge or logic to defend the lies and crap in the Dubyne rubbish videos.

Again a demand to apologise. I have nothing to do with Al Gore so why should I apologise? And what for?

It would be nice if you grew up and apologised for all your ad homs.

I'll apologise for Jovial.

Quote:
I Jovial Monk hereby apologise for my alarmist posts on Ozpolitic.

I once believed people like Al Gore & all the scientists he quoted.

I now realise that I was wrong & I
especially apologise to sir Bobby who I
attacked on a daily basis with Ad Hominem arguments.

I feel very guilty about it - please accept my my deep, humble, grovelling apology.

Abstract

During austral spring 2016 Antarctic sea ice extent (SIE) decreased at a record rate of 75 × 103 km2 d−1, which was 46% faster than the mean rate and 18% faster than in any previous spring season during the satellite era. The decrease of sea ice area was also exceptional and 28% greater than the mean. Anomalous negative retreat occurred in all sectors of the Antarctic but was greatest in the Weddell and Ross Seas. Record negative SIE anomalies for the day of year were recorded from 3 November 2016 to 9 April 2017. Rapid ice retreat in the Weddell Sea took place in strong northerly flow after an early maximum ice extent in late August. Rapid ice retreat occurred in November in the Ross Sea when surface pressure was at a record high level, with the Southern Annular Mode at its most negative for that month since 1968.

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/2017GL073656/abstract

So the Arctic is shrinking to very low sea ice extent and volume. Seems the Antarctic did the same last SH spring and summer.

An ice age is not happening, that is clear.

Quote:
This summer's sudden, dramatic melt had scientists scratching their heads for months. Now, after carefully comparing sea ice trend data with atmospheric circulation patterns, a team of researchers is offering a likely explanation. Writing in Geophysical Research Letters last month, the scientists explain how the sea ice crash coincided with a series of remarkable weather anomalies and storms — beginning, in September, with an extreme low pressure centre in the Amundsen sea off the coast of West Antarctica. In October, strong atmospheric Rossby waves brought additional heat toward the south pole, triggering ice loss in the Ross Sea and Indian Ocean. By November, the Weddell Sea was shedding 77,700km2 of ice — roughly the area of South Carolina — each day.

"There's no indication this is anything but just natural variability," lead study author John Turner said in a statement. "It highlights the fact that the climate of the Antarctic is incredibly variable."

Scientists are not alarmists, they leave that to cheap liars like Dubyne.

If you want to know what Rossby waves are: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rossby_wave

Quote:
Explaining weather patterns and climate trends over our planet's southernmost continent is proving to be an incredible challenge. 2016 aside, Antarctic sea ice has been slowly but steadily expanding over the satellite record, reaching an all-time high in October of 2014, in spite of the global warming trend. Scientists have attributed this seemingly bizarre expansion to everything from topography to decadal climate patterns to the ozone hole to global warming itself — but the truth is we still aren't entirely sure what's going on.

The insights of the new study are useful because they add another layer to our understanding of the variability in ice around the south pole. They're made stronger by the fact that other researchers are already replicating them, but more minds and more data could cause the picture to evolve even further. The hope is that the steady accumulation of scientific knowledge will help us better predict Antarctica's future — and help humanity prepare for the consequences.

So on the basis of that you are predicting a new minimum? I wonder what those minimums were when vessels sailed the Arctic so long ago? Wink

Am I predicting a new minimum?

We do see the Arctic ice extent and volume shrinking.

" Scientists in the US have presented one of the most dramatic forecasts yet for the disappearance of Arctic sea ice.

Their latest modelling studies indicate northern polar waters could be ice-free in summers within just 5-6 years.

Professor Wieslaw Maslowski told an American Geophysical Union meeting that previous projections had underestimated the processes now driving ice loss. "

"Professor Peter Wadhams from Cambridge University, UK, is an expert on Arctic ice. He has used sonar data collected by Royal Navy submarines to show that the volume loss is outstripping even area withdrawal, which is in agreement with the model result of Professor Maslowski. "

A bit of publicity is useful sometimes.

Actually, interesting article. But making a prediction or forecast is a risky thing to do.

Well you should have no trouble finding it.

So that would mean there was/were scientists promoting AGW before scientists were promoting an ice age/global cooling.

Of course that would be before scientists (including some of those who were part of the global cooling scheme), got the AGW religion. Wink
