But, mon cherie, forget about the silly little Larsen whatsit, eh, consider the subject most dreadful to imagine, the Thwaite Glacier letting go.

No doubt monsieur, we will be afforded the unique opportunity to observe this astonishing phenomenon.

Sad Sad

JM says -"Lees thinks climate change is summer giving way to winter!"

"Climate, sometimes understood as the "average weather,” is defined as the measurement of the mean and variability of relevant quantities of certain variables (such as temperature, precipitation or wind) over a period of time, ranging from months to thousands or millions of years. "

https://public.wmo.int/en/about-us/FAQs/faqs-climate

Seems like the World Meteorological Organisation thinks it also. Fancy climate changing over months.  Wink

Melt has kicked into a higher gear:

...

Don’t know why the huge spurt suddenly—it has been above freezing, tho most of the melt has been at the lower altitudes. Maybe the melt has reached the higher altitudes of the ice sheet?

See how it develops, I suppose.

A lot more area melting, from those maps.

Dunno why it didn’t melt more—the heavy snows last winter insulating the ice maybe?

Snow in an Arctic winter. Computes very well. There was a huge storm in the Arctic and North Atlantic this NH winter just passed, more snow is not unexpected.

For Jovial,
if there's  less snow it's global warming -

if there's more snow it's global warming.
