I didn't follow that conversation and I don't know the history between yourself and AiA so I don't know if there is a subtext to the comment.

Before you turn this around on me, I rarely use the word rape out of the literal context of sexual assault, perhaps only to describe clearfell logging of a pristine environment or such, but like me, you'd have noticed the younguns do use it a lot out of context.

Not long ago I was with two -25 yo female clients and one was getting constant phone calls and she said 'her phone was being raped'. Young boys always use the word in the context of gaming, and I'd say it's a pretty long bow to draw that using the world flippantly out of context diminishes the seriousness of violent sexual assault by the person saying it. Once again, it's not in my vernacular but ever changing the English language is.

But fair enough, I accept people have different levels of tolerance for the word used out of context (which is why I'd hesitate to use it, plus an age thing) and I suspect AiA was using it to test your tolerance or deliberately use it to cause you a level of distress.

So lets turn our attention to accusations of paedophilia. There are a few people here who regularly strongly imply that other members are paedophiles.
While outright 'you're a paedo' accusations are rare, they're regularly posed as a question rather than an accusation, 'Is it true you're under investigation for child porn'? That's just as harmful as an outright accusation and only grammatically structured as such to avoid a rule violation and ban.

Would you be less offended if someone said, 'Are you raped here every night'?  I think not. Now personally I don't care what I'm called because I know what I am, and what I'm not.

What I find particularly hypocritical is that you so thoroughly take to task and play the victim about the R word yet defend people who regularly call people paedophiles, which for many men is considered the most vile and hurtful accusation.
