I wouldn't give you two bob for the people on your list there, except for Paul McCartney who has been a giant in popular music of the last 50 years.
You seem to be deliberately ignoring my point, which is, if you are going to have honours at all, creative people - and that includes great actors - are as worthy as anybody else of being recognised.
You're not listening.
I'm all for these sort of people receiving public acclaim with lots of statuettes and engraved trophies to sit on the mantlepiece - but not royal knighthoods.
Knighthoods should be few and far between and reserved only for recipients who have achieved something quite extraordinary for the benefit of mankind.
A cure for Parkinson's / multiple sclerosis / migraines / certain cancers / Alzheimers / pillow-biting / etc.
Air travel that reduces the 24 hours to London to only 4 hours.
Restoring sight / hearing / mobility / etc.
Paul McCartney? Dear Jesus, give me strength. 'Yellow Submarine' and other Nursery Rhymes.
You're off my Christmas Card list for this year, Bogey.
We'll have to disagree to agree.
