Is Tone having a go at the big one ?

Tone knows how to win but will Mal listen ?

Maybe BOTH parties will simultaneously change leaders ?

Will it be Tone versus Albo Sneezy ? Where will Pauline be ?

Tony Abbott takes aim at Turnbull and lays out conservative manifesto
Katharine Murphy Political editor Thursday 23 February 2017 20.00 AEDT Last modified on Thursday 23 February 2017 20.01 AEDT

Former prime minister delivers provocative speech that takes pot shots at Malcolm Turnbull and unveils a sweeping election battle plan.

Tony Abbott is calling for the Coalition to cut immigration, slash the renewable energy target, and abolish the Human Rights Commission.

Tony Abbott has used a book launch to unveil a sweeping conservative manifesto for the next federal election, declaring the Coalition needs to cut immigration, slash the renewable energy target, abolish the Human Rights Commission, and gut the capacity of the Senate to be a roadblock to the government’s agenda.

In a provocative speech that contains several pot shots at his successor, Malcolm Turnbull, Abbott warns the government won’t win the next election unless it wins back the conservative base, and he declares “politics can’t be just a contest of toxic egos or someone’s vanity project.”

“Our challenge is to be worth voting for,” Abbott said in Sydney on Thursday evening at the launch of the book, Making Australia Right.

Distilling his pitch to voters, Abbott says: “In short, why not say to the people of Australia: we’ll cut the RET, to help with your power bills; we’ll cut immigration to make housing more affordable; we’ll scrap the Human Rights Commission to stop official bullying; we’ll stop all new spending to end ripping off our grandkids; and we’ll reform the Senate to have government, not gridlock.”

During a separate appearance on Thursday night on Andrew Bolt’s program on Sky News, Abbott doubled down on his argument that the Coalition was at risk of losing the next election because of the fracturing of rightwing politics, and the allure of “grievance” parties like One Nation.

Abbott said if voters wanted good government, they had to continue to back the Coalition “but plainly there are lots of people who are concerned about our our direction.”

He said there was a risk the government would “drift to defeat”.

In his speech at the book launch in Sydney, Abbott also delivered a caustic takedown of the government’s recent pivot to coal-fired power, which is a core component of its political strategy on energy prices and energy security for the new year.

LW reaching for the stars.

Tone is the brains behind the Libs and he hasn't lost his touch.

With Tone up front Question Time would become a slaughter house for the Greenies and their union controlled Labor puppet.

Recall how Tone wiped the floor repeatedly with the hopeless Krudd and Gillard.

Will it end up being Tone versus Albo Sneezy ?

Turnbull should listen to Abbott about One Nation—soon!
AMM  24/02/2017

...

Is it too late for Turnbull to regain the lost faithful?

Old tin-ear Turnbull shouls heed Abbott’s warning. In trying to be his own man by following his own path, a path that has led to one stuff-up after another, Malcolm Turnbull is on course for political oblivion—only he refuses to see that. This is why conservatives abandoned his path according to Mr Abbott.

“Why not say to the people of Australia: we’ll cut the [Renewable Energy Target], to help with your power bills; we’ll cut immigration, to make housing more affordable; we’ll scrap the Human Rights Commission, to stop official bullying; we’ll stop all new spending, to end ripping off our grandkids; and we’ll reform the Senate to have government, not gridlock,” he said.

Tony Abbott warns Coalition at risk of losing base to One Nation if it doesn’t change tack

Tony Abbott has lashed out at the Turnbull Government, saying conservatives see it as “Labor lite” and its base will desert it for One Nation unless it shunts to the right.

The policy remedy the former prime minister prescribed, included a halt to all new spending, cutting immigration, ending renewable energy subsidies, scrapping the Human Rights Commission and reforming the Senate.

His intervention is yet another shot at Malcolm Turnbull and it will be seen by him and many in Cabinet as the latest move in a deliberate campaign of destabilisation.

Launching the book Making Australia Right, penned by a group of prominent conservatives, Mr Abbott said a sense of disappointment and disillusionment pervaded the essays.

“Many of the people who normally support Coalition governments aren’t happy,” he said.

“They are publishing their own ways to ‘make Australia right’ because, they think, the Government is not up to it.

“It’s a cri de coeur from people who think that Labor is moving to the green left and that the Coalition has become Labor lite.”

Mr Abbott said the next election was winnable, but only if the Government changed tack.

He said it needed to find policy that was “philosophically acceptable, economically responsible and politically saleable”.

Abbott says Government has to overcome challenges
Mr Abbott pointed to the drift away from the major parties as a sign of a loss of faith in politics.

Nearly 40 per cent of the electorate now “couldn’t bring themselves to vote for either of the two parties that have governed us for 100 years”.

“And it’s worse now,” he said.

“In Queensland, polls have the Coalition vote 8 percentage points down since the election and One Nation 12 percentage points up.”
The reasons were obvious: abundant land and unaffordable housing, high labour costs and regulatory burdens and falling standards in education.

“It’s true that to be an Australian — almost any Australian — is to have won the lottery of life, but it won’t stay that way unless we lift our game,” Mr Abbott said.

“And yes, there’s an Opposition in denial about the problems it created when in office; there’s a populist Senate; there’s a media that often mistakes insider gossip for serious journalism; and there’s a public that demands to enjoy things today but to put off paying for them.

“Still, the Government’s job is to face up to these challenges and to overcome them. It’s harder than ever, but it still has to be done.

“In the long run, we do indeed need a conservative version of the left’s ‘long march through the institutions’.

“We do need to make it respectable again to be liberal on economic questions and conservative on social ones.”

Abbott says he has duty to ensure party ‘stays on the right track’
Speaking about the book launch on Sky News, Mr Abbott said he felt as a former party leader he had a duty to ensure the Liberal Party stayed “on the right track”.

He also criticised Mr Turnbull for choosing to live in his waterfront mansion rather than the official prime ministerial residence, suggesting he was being a “burden on the taxpayer” by not downsizing to Kirribilli House.

“The advice I got back in early 2014 was that if I stayed at Forrestville it would cost an extra million a year in security,” he said.
“I thought then I was really obliged to live in the house that the taxpayer provides for the Prime Minister.”

Mr Abbott said it would be a “better look” for both the Prime Minister and the Government if Mr Turnbull moved to Kirribilli House.

Leftist media saturates the news. Fight back. Send articles to your friends, politicians, local media, and facebook.

And a coupla COMMENTS

Yes. Tony Abbott identifies just some of the issues that desperately need to be addressed by the Liberals but won’t be, under the Captain of the Titanic, Turnbull.

Mind you Tony had the opportunity to start the ball rolling and didn’t. Eg. 18C.

Typical of Turnbull to waste OPM by not living in Kirribilli and that’s the sort of thing that really gets up people’s noses.

………Turnbull should listen to Abbott about One Nation—soon! ………..

I would imagine that the most obvious thought is, why vote for 2nd best when you can have the real thing?

I can’t imagine much discussion on immigration policy and 18c repealing in a PHON cabinet.

There may be some heated discussion if someone says it should take more than 24 hours to get the ball rolling!!

Well - he's pretty cut over losing the top spot in the corporation, with all of his solid policy ideas and his positive and streamlined public utterances in support of them.......

Now that one of his and Joey Huckster's flagships, the HMAS Medicare Freeze, has foundered, maybe he feels he needs to take back the reins and bring some sense back into this government before it fails in its aim of robbing the people totally blind............

tony wants the top job back and he's letting his colleagues know it. The closer to an election we get, the more the lib MP's will start to worry about their own jobs, and the better chance tony has of getting them to put him back in top job.

Even your good self Jules must now be honest and admit the Abbott is a liability to the whole Coalition.    This needs to be bought to a head and addressed immediately.   Sending out the mincing poodle to rebut Abbott is akin to admitting Abbott is correct.

Turnbull needs to call a leadership ballot and take the consequences.  He will be re-elected as there is no one else.  Take the opportunity to get rid of the deadwood on the front bench and reinvigorate the party.

Now for Abbott.   Offer him a plum 3 year posting OS if he leaves the party, or immediately remove his endorsement as a member of the Liberal Party if he doesn't.  It worked with that failure Hockey so it will work with Abbott.

A lot will depend on whether the unions decide they have had enough of hopeless Shorty and replace him with Albo Sneezy.

This would be a major shock for Malcolm who is sitting pretty while ever bumbling stumbling blunderbus Shorty is there.

This would be the time for Tone to strike. The Libs need an attack dog to rip very vulnerable Labor to bits.

But the real impediment to progress are the independent Senators all pulling in different directions and all pushing their own irrelevant wheelbarrows and all trying to be seen to be "important" by blocking lego.

Will the abominable shock of the specter of Shorty as "PM" be enough to frighten them out of their cocoons ?

Philly,

Their joy would be short lived once attack dog Tone started ripping them to shreds in Question Time.

Labor and Shorty are VERY vulnerable to attack and Tone knows all their weak points.

Wonder if he would get Peta Credlin back ?

Will this be a wake up call to Malcolm who can deliver when required as still licking his wounds Shorty can attest ?

Is Mal just keeping his powder dry ready for the final assault ?

As a lawyer Mal was very good and he could effortlessly crush the best in the courtroom.
