What effect does 200 years of being told you are worthless has on a people.

Raven's adopted father copped it all the time, from being told by a teacher that he was a grub to abuse he suffered in the compound.

One day he found 2 Shillings and took some friends to the cinema, they had a good time and had enough money to by sandwiches and drinks at intermission.

Next day while waiting for the semi trailer to take them to school (the white kids caught a bus while they had to sit in a modified semi trailer with wood bolted to the floor to act as seats) he saw his friends. They had handkerchiefs wrapped round their heads and they would not look at him.

He tracked them down at lunch and asked what was going on, one friend took the handkerchief off. Their heads had been shaved. One boy had a bit of blood on the front of his shirt. When Raven's father lifted the shirt he saw the wounds from a horse whip.

The movie had run late and the boys were caught coming back to Retta Dixon home. Raven's father felt very angry and guilty because he was the one that took them.

Later that night the missionary's house mysteriously burnt to the ground.

His only regret, he once said to Raven, was that the missionary was not in the house at the time. It could have save those boys a lot of abuse.

He also said that was the last time he would ever be less then anyone else.

He was 8 years old when they took him from his parents. Told that they no longer loved him, flogged mercilessly when speaking his own language and was only educated till he was 14 before being kicked out and told to find employment.

The effect that must have on the human psyche.

The sad fact is that the overwhelming majority of Australians have no idea what these people when through and confronted by it they use Special Pleading.

First line ..... complete BS.

Now Raven was off by 250,000 as they believe it was around 750,000.

Which is still less then the current population

Thanks for sharing, Raven. Of course we were blessed enough to have Corran on our board at DR before he passed.

I have now heard many tales spoken by aboriginal people just like the one you have written above about Corran. This has softened my stance considerably.

And regrettably we may never know the full extent of the abuse they suffered. Corral never told Raven the worst of the stuff that happened but much of it was pretty bad.

Raven remembers some of the views you had on DR and it's good to see that you are willing to change your opinion

You can think what you like but it doesn't change the fact that it happened. You refuse to acknowledge the past so be it.

Ryka Ali Plays Aboriginal Eucalyptus Didgeridoo

And why would his name be "Ali"?

http://www.pieproductions.com.au/performer_RykaAli_preschools.html

Ryka Ali

...

THE PERFORMER

Ryka Aliheritage stems from the Wuthathi tribe of Shellburne Bay, Cape York and from the Torres Strait Islands. A winner in the Young, Black and Deadly Talent Quest (2003) he is a very proud ambassador for Australia’s Indigenous youth. Ryka has performed at various festivals and cultural showcases around the
world. Most recently he has been working with his grandmother Cindy, presenting Indigenous workshops in schools throughout Australia.

Ryka has released a self-titled CD featuring hip-hop/urban sounds combined with the didgeridoo.

THE PERFORMANCE

Pre-Primary:Ryka’s performance reveals the richness of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands cultures. A presentation in two parts, reflecting both sides of his heritage, the show is entertaining, educational and participation is greatly encouraged.

K-6: Beginning with the Torres Strait Islands, Ryka will perform an introductory dance then talk about the flag. The show includes participatory dances with the students and also presentations and explanations of various instruments, artifacts and costumes specific to the Islands. Ryka will then introduce the Aboriginal culture, ‘painting up’ with ochre (along with student volunteers) and explaining its importance and the significance of the designs. Once again Ryka will perform and teach native dances for audience participation. The flag will be discussed along with instruments pertinent to Aboriginal culture, especially the didgeridoo, ending with a demonstration of the extraordinary versatility of the didgeridoo.

Note: Ryka will require student volunteers as well as wider audience participation.

7-12: Similar to the above, and on request Ryka will also give a short demonstration of the didgeridoo and the amazing sound he has created, including the more modern sounds of the DJ and beat-boxing tailored for the male youths.

COMMENTS FROM SCHOOLS

"Excellent – engaged and included all the children. The music stories and humour were fantastic."
Kirinari Early Childhood Centre

"Great. The children smiled, participated and laughed throughout."
KU Bradfield Park Child Care Centre

"They were kept entertained the whole time. The older children were all keen to participate and they were able to follow the movements well. Ryka was very friendly and the children responded well. His grandmother was also very friendly and very entertaining and the children enjoyed all aspects of the performance. I particularly liked the way Ryka applied the ochre to his face and arms in front of the children – it was very child appropriate. It reinforced what the children had been learning about Indigenous culture. They learnt a lot of new words, songs and dances."
Rainbow Cottage Early Childhood Centre

"The children loved this performance. All were completely engrossed for the entire show. The children enjoyed participating as a group and on the stage. Content and props were excellent. The performers spoke to the children in a way that involved them immediately and held their attention. Very age appropriate."

many blessings

he is a great leader and artist by the sounds of it ..

and contributes to the community and teaches children of beautiful native culture ..

this is a much better message of loving frequencies rather than your hatred and malcontent of native people that do not need your permission to be here and actually belong here

and then raven shares a story from his reality and you take great joy in besmirching evidence presented ... and so gnads has proven himself to be full of hate and spreading hatred

what a sad existence this must be for you

and so anyone looking at your posts would see clearly ryka ali is a better role model than you .. so thank you

even filled with your bitterness and ignorant hatred you provide a much needed service in showing others

what not to be ....

Sounds like a stage name.

You believe what you like

Because I don't agree with the continual victimhood mentality doesn't make it any less valid.

You have a nice day.

It's the very reason you hate me so much.

After being bombarded by lies, irrational Islamophobia, and neo-Nazi propaganda from the likes of Gordy, Bogie, Hammer, Frank, Armpit, et al. you are confronted and challenged when I present objective, undeniable facts.
