Oh, so the popular vote doesn't matter, all of a sudden.

Correct.

SO why are you banging on and on and on about it like a demented unflushable?

I'm not.

I've merely stated that Clinton won the popular vote, and thus America didn't get the President they voted for.

No banging on.  Nothing demented.

The second clause doesn't follow from the first.

You appear even more confused than Pecca. I suggest you both examine the US voting system a bit more thoroughly before making further outlandish statements.

Not at all.

Clinton won the popular vote, thus, America didn't get the President they voted for.

Even if we could have a fraud free election they would only need to concern themselves with the first ten most populated States.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_population

Los Angeles County has a larger population then the ten least populace States. Why worry about representing the people of Wyoming  if you can charm California?

Los Angeles County — the most populous in the nation with about 10.1 million people — was projected less than a decade ago to reach a population of 12 million by 2030. Now, the county is expected to reach that milestone after 2060, according to state estimates.

Why represent the people of Louisiana when you can get the vote of New York City!

The city had a population of 8.273 Million in 2011, 8.344 Million in 2012, 8.406 Million in 2013, 8.491 Million in 2014 and 8.550 Million in 2015. By getting the 2015 data, the predicted population of the year 2016 is 8.6 Million.

Four million dead people and three million illegals voted in this election and I don't think any voted for Trump.

The Electoral Collage did exactly what it was designed to do! Give everyone representation not just high population cities.

We know Mort, but the lefty globalist losers here would like to see the US change your system to the Australian system of voting - compulsory voting with penalties if you don't comply, including selling your house to recoup fine money (I have a fine notice so I know what penalties apply)

Then we have preferential as well as primary voting. This means that a candidate doesn't necessarily need more primary votes than the next candidate to win a seat in parliament, they can win if they get more preferences (preferences are votes that have less value than primary votes). The Fed voting here covers the whole country. Our states are excluded from the Fed vote,

Some of us here understand that your Fed general election is more of a "States" election and the States take precedence over the Fed - hence Electoral College electors in each State. The lefty losers here conveniently refuse to accept this idea the US created and think that your popular vote should have put Clinton in as President, but they're only going on like that because Trump won 270 plus

What would happen in the US Mort, if the Electoral College decided on Clinton in mid December? when they do their final count and make their final decision

Gillard was PM even though Australian's 'chose' Abbott. But these things are not determined SIMPLY BY THE POPULAR VOTE in all cases.

This is why marginal seats and swing states matter more than seats/states overwhelmingly voting one way or the other.

Australians don't vote for the PM

Well no surprises there, pek and the jon state the bleeding obvious again, fair dinkum they remind me of the Skipper and Gilligan. Fact is many people vote  for the leader they prefer knowing the leadership can change. Example, the Turnbull party.

I don't remember any whining about the electoral college when Obama won two elections. If people want to change the system, it can become an election issue. If not, its just a lot of sour grapes.

Yes, Obama won the popular vote. In fact, only four times in American history has a president not won the popular vote and two of those times were in the last 16 years ...

In 2012 Trump declared the Electoral College something that needed to be done away with Smiley

Hillary's popular vote lead gets bigger each time I check ...

Well, there we go then.

America got the President they voted for - no need for any whining.
