Giuliani: We need a President to destroy ISIS
Jun 20th, 2016 at 2:31pm

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Friday that "we need a president to destroy ISIS" — and that person would be presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.

"The reality is four or five years ago, there was an ISIS but it wasn't the organization it was today," the former two-term Republican told Greta Van Susteren on Fox News. "When [President Barack Obama] said it was the J-V team, he was really talking about the ISIS of two or three years ago and the ISIS that he kind of inherited.

"He is the one that made it into a varsity Islamic terrorist organization by not intervening when he should have.

"The only thing you can do to stop Islamic extremist terrorism is you have to be on offense," he said.

Giuliani likened Sunday's mass killing of 49 people and the wounding of 53 others by an American-born Florida man who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State to when the terrorist group slaughters Christians and beheads others.

"It's Islamic extremist terrorism. That is the philosophy behind the attack that went on in Orlando.

"In this particular case, it was focused against a group of people that are considered enemies of fundamentalists extremist Muslims: gay and lesbian people," he said. "We have seen them throw homosexual men off buildings.

"This is very similar to when they take a group of Christians and chop their heads off. If you are a Christian, you are an infidel. If you are a gay and lesbian, you are an infidel.

"If you are a Jew, you are an infidel. If you are not, you are a fundamentalist Muslim."

The formula for destroying the Islamic State, Giuliani said, included air strikes, group troops, a no-fly zone in Syrian — and removing the country's president, Bashar Assad.

You also have to control the Internet. "It is time for corporations to find out some way to shut down that inspiration and recruitment," he said.

Trump, Giuliani said, would "of course" be more effective in eliminating ISIS than Clinton.

"She is the one who presided over the overthrow of [President Muammar] Gaddafi in Libya," he told Van Susteren. "Look what we have in Libya. She reset the relationship in Russia. Look how bad the relationship with Russia is since she reset the relationship.

"Hillary Clinton has had her chance to conduct the foreign policy of the United States — and she has been, I will say, kindly, a disaster.

"Every single thing she touched as secretary of state, whether it was her policies or Barack Obama's, they are the same and ended up worse."

As if it would stop at ISIS...

There was a time when it was just Al Qaeda... And apparently they got theirs... Then it was Al Qaeda and the Taliban and they both got theirs.....

Today its Al Qaeda, the Taliban and ISIS...

Tomorrow it'll be all of the above and one more...

Dying and Death doesn't terrorise them.

Islamists (like all of the fanatically religious, radical philosophers and extremist politicians who perceive in some way a creeping 'End of Times') are young, wild and desperate for their belief system not to 'perish from the earth'.

As many groups as we can destroy another will surface...

This will continue until the underlying zeal is depleted...

But, unfortunately, there is no greater a forge for the zealot than fanatical religion.

But

But he said Mr Trump was wilfully exaggerating the numbers and he himself "would've been thrown out of the race" had he made such an inflated claim during his 2008 campaign.

Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik later backed up Mr Giuliani's comments, saying "10-50" people were reported to be celebrating in different areas throughout the city.

So 50 people total. Well done.

Why is that amusing to you? Giuliani was Time Magazine's "Person of the Year" for 2001.

As the hardly conservative magazine wrote at the time: "Giuliani became the voice of America. Every time he spoke, millions of people felt a little better. His words were full of grief and iron, inspiring New York to inspire the nation."

I'd call that well-credentialed and well-loved.

Giuliani is a nutjob with a worse personal life than Donald Trump. His only claim to success is that he happened to be the mayor of NYC at the time of 9/11. He takes credit for the decline in violent crime in that city but others point to other reasons that have nothing to do with his policies as this same decline can be seen in cities all around America.

He had reason to be worried... Many Sikhs (along with other eastern religious groups and peoples) were being harassed in New York over the weeks that followed as 'locals' were confusing them with Muslims.

Giuliani gets his wish (along with McCain) and the US military goes into Syria. Just what ISLAMIC State have wanted from day one.

Like Iraq, a lot of Americans get killed for nothing, but they do kick out the Assad regime and destroy the last semblance of organisation in that country. America now has two, if not three, basket case countries on its hands.

And as in all its wars, many nationals of those countries emigrate to the US. Fabulous amounts of money get wasted again on unverifiable projects, a lot of which is borrowed. Meanwhile, wherever ISLAMIC State is cornered, they simple hide behind their women and children, or bury their weapons and melt into the population. "Me IS? No I hate them. I love freedom. Can I drive taxi in New York?"

Americans in Syria make easy targets for suicide bombers, and IEDs. The USA is accused of imperialism by just about everyone.

Fanatical ISLAM simple pops up somewhere else like Al Q, maybe with a new name, but the same murderous intent. OH yes! and no congressmen or senators send their children to the war. Aliakbar!

Who cares about his personal life? If that's all it took to disqualify a person from public office, the Clintons would never have gotten within a whiff of the White House.

And I wouldn't assume that a shrinking violent crime rate is a given for major U.S. cities. As the Washington Post wrote in April 2016: "The number of homicides spiked in more than a dozen major U.S. cities last year, the increases ranging from relatively small (Las Vegas registered three more killings than it did in 2014) to enormous (Baltimore had its highest number in more than two decades)."

Besides, if you don't like Giuliani, did you like his incompetent predecessor, David Dinkins, any better? New Yorkers obviously didn't, booting him after 4 years in office.

And the current mayor, Bill "Big Bird" de Blasio, is so far out in left field that he's managed to alienate his own police force ... along with a majority of New Yorkers, 52 percent of whom now say he doesn't deserve re-election (Quinnipiac University poll). "Voters don’t approve of how Mr. de Blasio is handling the public schools, the budget or crime," the Wall Street Journal noted.

enormous (Baltimore had its highest number in more than two decades)

Not sure that classifies as enormous, they could have 10 murders a year every year for two decades and all of a sudden this year they had 11. Still the highest number in more than two decades.
