Giuliani is a nutjob with a worse personal life than Donald Trump. His only claim to success is that he happened to be the mayor of NYC at the time of 9/11. He takes credit for the decline in violent crime in that city but others point to other reasons that have nothing to do with his policies as this same decline can be seen in cities all around America.
Who cares about his personal life? If that's all it took to disqualify a person from public office, the Clintons would never have gotten within a whiff of the White House.
And I wouldn't assume that a shrinking violent crime rate is a given for major U.S. cities. As the Washington Post wrote in April 2016: "The number of homicides spiked in more than a dozen major U.S. cities last year, the increases ranging from relatively small (Las Vegas registered three more killings than it did in 2014) to enormous (Baltimore had its highest number in more than two decades)."
Besides, if you don't like Giuliani, did you like his incompetent predecessor, David Dinkins, any better? New Yorkers obviously didn't, booting him after 4 years in office.
And the current mayor, Bill "Big Bird" de Blasio, is so far out in left field that he's managed to alienate his own police force ... along with a majority of New Yorkers, 52 percent of whom now say he doesn't deserve re-election (Quinnipiac University poll). "Voters don’t approve of how Mr. de Blasio is handling the public schools, the budget or crime," the Wall Street Journal noted.
