Rugby League to decide election?
Jun 5th, 2016 at 1:00pm

Townsville (Federal seat of Herbert held by the Libs Ewan Jones with about a 5% margin) is in strife particularly after the QNI disaster.  Unemployment is high, people cannot pay their mortgages, its economy is on the brink, but it has one positive going for it, the Townsville Cowboys.

They need a Stadium.  Qld Labor has committed $M100 to it and that has been matched by Shorten also committing another $M100.  That will provide employment both in the short and long term.

I say that if Turdfull does not match that offer by July 2, he can kiss Herbert and Government goodbye.

Townsville is traditional Labor Land.  The State seat of Mundinburra (in Townsville) was held by the Libs prior to the 2015 State election wipe-out of the Newman Government.  That Lib fellow (Crusifelli - sp)  had a swing of almost 13% against him, and he lost the seat.

North Qlders are an unforgiving mob, and could easily and viciously lash out against Turdfull if they do not get their Footy Stadium.

If Labor are promising 240M in the seat then I'm sure the Liberals will find the money to do the same.

And today, Malcolm matches Labor's money offer.  Let's see if it's enough to save Herbert.  (The seat, not the Pom.)
