and that answer just highlights what a complete and utter more on you are

I wouldn't have expected you to understand what having a job is like. You should try it sometime instead of leeching off hard working Australians.

The point is, we should NOT have ANY right to tell people how to spend THEIR money.

Their money that they earn through their own efforts; not some welfare handout earned by the efforts of someone else .... ohh wait it is a hand out earned by some one else's' efforts and given to welfare recipients as a temporary measure.

There is an easy solution, earn your own money and you can then complain about how the government wastes your tax dollars of bullsh1t too.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

In short you have no right to complain about money someone else earned for you.

BigOl, it IS THEIR MONEY.

It is NOT 'taxpayer's money, it is THEIRS. Does every deposit into your bank account still belong to the depositor? No, of course not.

Do these depositors retain the right to control what you do with those funds? Again, of course not.

No-Start is NO DIFFERENT.

It is NOT a 'hand-out', as the Right seem to believe. It is (grossly-inadequate) compensation for being unable to get a job.

And with job-seekers STILL outnumbering jobs by 8 to 1, your 'easy solution' is simply wishful thinking.

Stop using 1950s rhetoric to address a 2010s problem.

He has a very valid argument. He isn't disputing the card Or even the reasons for it. He happily accepted his card.

why is the govt. keeping secret WHO has access to all his personal information? Why do they need to provide those details to private companies in the first place?

I agree with you john.

Quote:
..................Daniel and his family thought nothing of it, they don’t drink or gamble so they didn’t see too much of an issue. When the cards were being issued, like everyone else Daniel went to receive his. He was given a card, a PIN and a booklet of terms and conditions. Nobody was asked to sign anything, no one signed the terms or for the cards, which Daniel found slightly questionable. So he went home and studied the information booklet and found the contents quite disturbing. The terms allow for collection of the cards data, all your purchases, all your information, and then they allow for this private information to be given to not only government departments but any private company at their discretion.

Daniel decided to cut up his card and not use it at all. After asking questions and looking further into it, Daniel got no real answers to his question “Who has access to all this data and why?” he made the decision to take a stand and go on hunger strike.

Today is day five of Mr Taylors hunger strike and he says “I’m feeling really weak and scatterbrained” he claims he is not going to eat until he gets the answers he is after.

In a phone interview with Daniel a few days ago he stated that he could already see a black market popping up in town, with people paying $150 cash for $200 worth of product purchased with a card. In Ceduna where they started trials on the basics card, people are claiming shops that allow it to be used there are upping the prices and taking advantage of people’s lack of choice. One lady even told us that if she spends over $100 at Coles and uses her card, they charge her an extra $32...................

It should be kept in mind the govt is giving away my taxes.
I don't want this social security to be part of a marketing exercise.

Good luck Daniel.

The only money I consider my money, is the money I earned.

So when the money I earned and taken from me to give to someone else who did nothing to earn it, is never to be considered as theirs to do with what ever they want.

The problem is that people become used to the fact the welfare is an acceptable income and they should feel good about receiving money they did not earn.

Not even a child should feel that money they didn't earn is their 'right'.

The dole is meant to be a temporary measure between jobs, not a fully funded lifestyle.

I think it would be better to 'make your own job', than apply for one.

Ask backpackers, they seem to lob into Australia and find employment pretty easy. But they aren't competing with true blue Aussie welfare recipients who couldn't be fkked finding a job; so they have that going for them.

that's because they don't mind a couple of weeks work here and a couple of weeks work 2000km away all whilst staying in backpackers hostels. Try doing that with a family, paying rent and other living expenses for them plus your transport, living and accommodation expenses for yourself, long term, and you'd end up worse off than not working at all.

Employers discriminate heavily against Australian unemployed when hiring, do try to keep up.
