She was waist deep water at the beach. Would be curious to know how many warning signs were on the beach.

Just further reinforces my opinion of FNQ as being a holiday in hell.

Can't swim in summer because of the jellies, can't swim any other time because of of the crocs. Can't walk thru the parks without being bashed by Abos.

There doesn't seem to be any way to explain it. One of the women lived in Cairns, so she would have been well aware of the dangers.

They had arrived at this destination in the daytime and therefore would have seen the danger notices all over the place.

Was it foul play with no croc involved? 10.30 at night with no witnesses on the beach at this holiday resort ....  ? Mighty suspicious. Did one kill the other somewhere else and then claim it was a croc? A love triangle with the deceased's husband?

No remains to be seen anywhere despite all-day searching from sea, air and land? Crocs usually 'save some for later' ...

I smell a rat here. It's all too impossibly insane that the Cairns woman wouldn't know it's a suicide note to go waist-deep in those waters late at night ...

I've been swimming at Port Douglas before. If you pick the beach you can go for a swim.

I got the impression from reports she was in some kind of backwater.

Do those 'safe' beaches have crocodile warning signs? - and if they do - then WHY did you risk getting rolled by a croc?

It's hard to tell because the tourists leave their towels hanging over the signs. It's the only way to keep the sand off.

Jesus!  Grin Grin Grin

That should be an indictable offence ... in fact I think it already is an indictable offence.

So okay - you didn't have crocs nibbling at your toes, but how about the irukanji?

Marla and other potential tourists beware! ...

It was in the off season. No irikanji. Plus I think the swell would make things difficult for a croc. I did check with the locals first. Mind you I was a bit nervous because the water was filthy. That's when the sharks come in.

Never check with the locals - they'll tell you anything just for a private laugh. Always check with the ambos and the police - they are the ones who have to deal with the aftermath of a mauling or killing.

Also - pay for some local abos to form a circle around you in the water.  Cool

They were tourism employees. The last thing they want is a dead tourist. Even if he does still pay for his room.

I was about 19, at a beach party at Yorkys beach and wanted to get back to my camp site at Holloway beach. The locals just told me to walk along the beach.  Thanks Yirrganydji people
