That's if McGowan even wins in the first place. I have heard that a lot of people in that seat don't like how she has sided with the Greens so often. For some inexplicable reason they don't seem to like the lovely Sophie Mirabella either, so they're looking at voting Nationals. It is, after all, a conservative seat traditionally. Windsor won't beat Joyce, either.

And even if they both did win, or either, the current polling in marginal seats indicates that the Coalition is on track to hold most. So whilst it may be 50-50 or even Labor slightly ahead (give or take for margin of error) if Labor doesn't get the swings that it needs in the marginals, the Coalition will get its own majority.

I know, Matty. Let’s just hope the lovely Sophie wins her seat and sends that awful MacGowan woman back to whatever tip she came from.

Then the lovely Sophie can take over the Liberal leadership and the grown-ups will be back in charge.

McGowan's family has been in the Indi electorate for generations. She's practically Indi royalty. On the other hand, Mirabella's a blow-in from Melbourne and her parents weren't even born here.

Yes, but the people want the lovely Sophie, and who wouldn’t?

She’s fabulous. She should never have been removed from her seat.

I blame the leftards. Typical.

Rather bold prediction considering the opinion polls say otherwise.

Seven weeks to go in the campaign and Turnbull is still leaking support. His approval figures in the latest Essential poll are now in negative territory and still falling, while Shorten's continue their slow rise. Shorten is also closing the gap on preferred PM.

Essential Research: 51-49 to Labor
Coalition 42, Labor 38, Greens 9, NXT 3.

Turnbull: Approve 40 (+1) disapprove 42 (+3).
Shorten: Approve 34 (+4) disapprove 43 (-1).
Preferred PM: Turnbull 43 (-1), Shorten 28 (+6).

Exactly. They never should have thrown out Mr Abbott. Not even Matty will vote for them now.

But Abbott was toxic. He was so on the nose that he could swim with impunity in the Top End because even the crocs wouldn't touch him.

I'm all for a hung parliament.

Problem is there isn't enough strong trees to hang them all from in Canberra.

Perhaps we could just hang them from bridges or even build some gallows built for the purpose.

Bring on a hung parliament..........Yay

Malcolm Turnbull again raised fears of a Labor-Greens alliance undermining jobs through a deal on penalty rates.

Does this mean that the Liberals admit that they are a threat to penalty rates ?

Labor and the greens should both be defending penalty rates.

Back in around 71BC, the Romans lined the Appian Way with crucified slaves after they beat Spartacus.

Maybe we could take a leaf from their book, build gibbets along the Barton Highway and hang this parliament there.

It would certainly send a strong message to any politician or apparatchik approaching Can't-berra by road.

Excuse me, that’s Matty’s Prime Minister you’re slandering there.

If you’re not careful, Matty will have to stay in Long Island and give his vote to someone else.

I like hung parliaments and hostile senates. The two major parties actually need to consider what some of the other 49% of the population (who didn't auto-vote for them) will think, instead of rubber stamping laws that will be forgotten once the pork barrelling starts, late in their term of government.

Ferk em. Make them justify their legislation to someone, at least, instead of just getting the party whip to ensure all their drones turn up for a vote.
