Brisbane city council elections
Mar 17th, 2016 at 8:04pm

I am trying to figure out how the LNP and ALP compare on the issue of high rise developments in the inner suburbs. Does anyone know?

Ben Pennings
Greens
cheaper water and power - bad because it will increase use of water and electricity

Jeffrey Hodges
CONSUMER RIGHTS AND NO-TOLLS PARTY
good - no tolls - roads should be paid for by fuel taxes instead

Jarrod Wirth
INDEPENDENT
ban the burka

PEOPLE DECIDE
Karel Boele
direct democracy - people vote on each issue - have my doubts on the workability of this one - might give power to highly motivated idiots, but I am generally in favour of this sort of electoral reform if it works

Jim Eldridge
INDEPENDENT
Fixing Brisbane’s alcohol problems
lower spending

Rod Harding
ALP
public transport

Graham Quirk (LNP)
Roads and metro trains

No idea, but the CBD of Brisbane is long lost to high rise.  The 'inner suburbs' (whatever you mean by that) will likely follow.

Direct democracy would be fantastic but its unlikely people would support policy thats contraversial , cutting edge or cost them more .  Example,
if a retard in opposition didnt oppose carbon pricing and manage to sell it to what can only be described as a conga line of dipshits and retards , we would be well underway to prosperity and never have had Tony dumb dumb as pm and 4.5 billllllllion dollars worth of renewables on the go , as opposed to ZERO dollars worth of major resource projects , ZERO dollars , no JOBS , ZERO as in NOTHING .

Voting by delegable proxy achieves the same thing as direct democracy without the negatives.

It seems you're doing better than me as far as your candidates go.

I've gotta go and vote for the gold coast election and I haven't a clue who the candidates are or what they stand for. A bunch of signs went up a few weeks ago about a bunch of people I'd never heard off previously. No one is saying what platform they are running on apart from the usual generic bullsh1t like 'stop crime, lower traffic congestion ' blah blah ... no idea how exactly they plan on doing that. .... I've no idea if any are party affiliated or not.

I think I'm going to tell them where to go shove it with my ballot paper. no one deserves my vote.

Your current Mayor is gonna romp back in, as will happen here on the Sunshine Coast.

But.....go vote......'NO' for four year terms of the Qld Government.

He's a farkin mor on .. last christmas the council had a kids fun day at a local park with cartoon type characters dancing around, xmas carols etc. ... Tate jumped in, in front of my kids who wanted to say hello to the guys in character, so that he could take a selfie and then the officials got in on the act and blocked any access because the mayor was there. .. kids were so disappointed they couldn't say hello.

The 'yes' vote in the state's referendum for fixed four-year parliamentary terms has increased its lead slightly to 52.05 per cent, ahead of the 'no' vote with 47.95 per cent.
