Thomo reprimanded..
Mar 17th, 2016 at 4:51pm

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/national/mp-craig-thomson-reprimanded-over...

FORMER Federal MP Craig Thomson faces being reprimanded by the House of Representatives, after a parliamentary committee recommend he be found guilty of contempt of Parliament.

A report into statements made by Mr Thomson in 2012, when he was the member for Dobell, was tabled in Parliament today.

It recommends the House of Representatives find Mr Thomson guilty of contempt for “deliberately misleading” the Parliament and said he should be reprimanded.

Under the Parliamentary Privileges Act, possible punishments for contempt of the House include up to six years in jail, a fine of $5000 or “a public reprimand or admonishment, exclusion from the precincts or requirement for an apology.”

what a joke...

Quote:
In this case, the committee acknowledges Mr Thomson’s difficult personal situation in all the circumstances since the allegations about him first arose in the context of the HSU exit audit in 2007-08,” the report said.

all brought on by himself..he wasnt forced to steal or lie  was he?....

He should be fined and reprimanded. after all, he spent a televise hour lying his ass off about everything in parliament.

I do not believe it sufficient that he just walk off with a reprimand.  He lied to Parliament, bare faced, and with crocodile tears.

a bit of a joke isnt it?>...he even named people who had nothing whatever to do with his predicament...

this man has got away with everything....the unions will never see a penny he will never pay the fine..which in itself was a joke and he will never serve time.. and now this...

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes..

I am not picking on him because hes labor...but lets be honest any one else would be doing time....

why is it ok for Williamson to do time and not this guy??????....because he can cry in public..

A heavy fine is due although i dont know how parliament could enforce it especially since he is bankrupt.  A jail sentence - even just 30 days would be appropriate given the scale of his lie and offending.

What was he thinking? his offending was going to be easily proved (and was) so why make a lengthy public lie to simply make it worse? now he is known for the lie as much as the crimes.

a real idiot.

The main thing that mystifies me about the Craig Thomson saga is is the way that he is continually referred to in OzPolitic as "Thomo" rather than as the more usual abbreviation of "Thommo".

It had to be Vic, going on all this hullabaloo. Was it $2M ?

I am sure someone will enlighten us!

As far as lying to Parliament, Abbott made an art form of that!  Grin Grin Grin Grin

so SIZE does matter with the left

hummmmmmmmmmmmm

the fact was he was one of many and he was also an MP...he also stole money to pay for his bid to get  into parliament.around the $250.000... all of which was removed from the charges thanks to deals...

never mind the HSU being the poorest paid people in Australia. that didnt matter what did matter was Craigs tears...

and the fact was he stood up in parliament using peoples names that had nothing whatever to do with his brothel creeping....all under parliamentary priv....he cried then as well... poor craig... then when he had basically got away with it..... a very small fine.. which he is still doing his best to get out of paying..

he confesses it was all true and he lied and lied and lied...

of course if you think thats ok...at least we know you have no principles either

you cannot compare craig to anyone else .. I do not know of anyone else who has had the privilege  of crying in Parliament telling them what a raw deal he has had and it wasnt MEEEEEEEEEEEE...

if you can name someone... let me know.

I don't think anyone here is trying to defend what Thomson did.  It's just that some are behaving as if it's only those affiliated with Labor and the unions who would do such a thing, although any reasonably intelligent person would realise that this is not the case.
